Learning to shift gears is accessible with the three-speed gearbox and automated centrifugal clutch. Easy engine starts with a convenient push-button electric start option. The entire engine width is kept low due to the compact construction resulting in a narrow feel and superb handling. The 11mm Mikuni® VM-type carburetor with automated on/off electric heating provides a crisp, consistent throttle response. Maintenance is reduced by using an automatic cam chain tensioner. The CDI ignition system produces a high consistent spark and requires little maintenance. The upswept exhaust system is lightweight with no or less noise and it includes a USFS-approved spark arrestor making it feasible for the environment.

For outstanding handling and a smooth ride, a conventional fork with 22mm sliders delivers 3.8 inches of front-wheel travel. A single coil-over shock controls the Monocross® rear suspension which provides 2.8 inches of bump-smothering rear tire travel. Front and rear 80mm drum brakes offer strong, consistent stopping power with the rear being actuated by a right foot pedal, similar to the huge YZs. Durable knobby tires on 10-inch front and rear wheels provide excellent grip and wear. The low seat height of approximately 21.9-inch enables easy feet-down handling and increased confidence.
Additional Features
Unauthorized riding is discouraged with the Yamaha 2022 TT-R50E Trail Dirt Bike’s key-type ignition switch. While beginner learning under the adult supervisor can use the throttle stop screw to limit speed. The YZ bodywork is stylish with an integrated front fender and number plate. When the motorcycle is not in use, the standard side stand tucks away. Footing is excellent because of the large folding cleated footpegs.
