Triumph 2022 Bonneville T120 Black Gold Line Edition Review

The T120 Black looks contemporary thanks to its golden interior and the subtle, hand-painted grandeur of its blacked-out features. Modern Bonneville’s, such as the T120 and T120 Black Gold Line Editions, take full advantage of the 1200cc twin’s torque-rich capabilities, producing 79HP at 6,550rpm and 77 LB-FT of torque at 3,500rpm, respectively. Their cutting-edge suspension system features 41mm cartridge springs, preload-adjustable twin RSUs, and twin Brembo front brakes with an anti-lock braking system (ABS), all contributing to an energetic, agile and well-balanced ride quality. The Bonneville T120 Gold Line Limited looks incredible in Competition Green and Silver Ice. In addition to the standard Competition Green filling on the tank, which includes a hand-painted gold line and the subtle “gold line” marking, the side panels feature a striped design with an exclusive white and gold Bonneville T120 emblem.

Silver Ice mudguards are included, and a comparable supplemental attachment for the fly screen is also available. As an alternative, the tank, front and rear mudguards, headlamp basin, and side panels of the Bonneville T120 Black Gold Line Edition are painted a glossy sapphire black for a more aggressive appearance.

Matte silver ice with hand-edged gold line embellishments characterizes the side panel stripe patterns, which feature a brand-new black and gold logo design. The color scheme goes perfectly with the blacked-out exhaust system, engine, and other details that give the Bonneville T120 Black its signature harsh and somber demeanor.

The latest version improvements, like the lightweight aluminum wheels, cruise control, and better pedaling settings, make the T120 and T120 Black Gold Line Editions even more upmarket and desirable.

Each of the eight new Bonneville Gold Line Editions features a gorgeous, hand-painted “gold line” color scheme, and they are based on the latest iteration of models. It is due to the overwhelming demand for the 2021 Street Twin Gold Line Edition, released earlier in the year and sold out in record time.

New to the Triumph lineup, the Gold Line Editions are premium, exclusive, and limited, showcasing the brand’s usual high standards of craftsmanship and design.

The Art of Gold Lining

It takes years of experience, steady hands, and a lot of care, but the paint workshop at Triumph has perfected the art of hand-painting a gold lining.

Many new Gold Line Edition patterns use a two-color palette as their foundation, and the transition between the two colors has been softened. The gold line is painstakingly hand-applied by the artist using a specialty soft-bristled sword-liner brush, usually in a single, fluid stroke. When the pinstripe is in place, a coat of clear lacquer is used to preserve it.

For the gold lining, a special paint is created by mixing a boosted pigment with a cellulose lacquer to achieve the ideal consistency; this is because regular vehicle paint is too thin for brushwork.

The artist signs each Gold Line Edition with their name as a final touch, a personal gesture that sets apart each individually painted Triumph.
