To commemorate the first generation of cafe racers and London’s iconic Ace Cafe – the spiritual home of vintage British motorcycling – Triumph has created a one-off limited-edition Bonneville T120 Ace for 2019.
The new 2019 Bonneville T120 Ace is a stripped-back, and blacked-out take on the very first generation of cafe racers after the phenomenally popular Thruxton Ace of 2015. The Bonneville T120 Ace is a one-of-a-kind Ace version of the stunning Bonneville T120 Black, inspired by the ‘head down – hang on’ adolescent biker mentality and the iconic Ace Cafe, the spiritual birthplace of the contemporary classic British motorbike.
While the young urban leather-clad Bonneville riders of London’s North Circular assembled back at the Ace Cafe, comparing rides and swapping stories to a rock ‘n’ roll soundtrack, they had a refreshingly defiant attitude: ‘Head Down–Hang On.’
Triumph 2019 Bonneville T120 Ace Classics – Features
1200cc High Torque Engine
In the Bonneville T120, the 1200cc high-torque 8-valve parallel Bonneville twin engine brings out the bike’s original character.
A 54 percent increase in peak torque at 3,100 revolutions per minute (RPM) over the previous generation, making it ideal for current classic riding styles.
The six-speed, 1200 Bonneville engine has a 270° firing interval for characterful, linear power delivery thanks to the ride-by-wire fuel-injection and engine management system of Triumph’s newest generation ride-by-wire technology.
To preserve the unique Bonneville appearance, the engine has been painstakingly built to retain essential stylistic elements from the renowned 60’s Bonneville motorcycles while adding modern components.
Liquid cooling systems have been incorporated into the 1200 engine’s attractive design to reduce its visual effect while delivering lower emissions and increasing fuel economy by 13 percent over the previous generation. Combined with a revised service interval of 10,000 miles (16,000 kilometers), the entire cost of ownership is considerably reduced.
A clever dual skin design covers the pipe run into the cat box and out again, creating a clean ‘straight line run’ for the peashooter-type exhausts. The exhaust note that genuinely reflects the T120 character is delivered, honed to a level you would expect and desire from a British twin.
Modern Capability
When it comes to rider-focused technology, nothing is compromised with the Bonneville T120 Ace. It shares the T120 Black’s high level of capability while adding a plethora of rider-focused technology to offer great control, safety, and greater rider confidence.
Relaxed and Refined Handling
When it comes to the Bonneville T120 Black’s chassis and suspension, it was designed for every day, all-day riding, alone or with a passenger.
With its neutrality, agility, and stability combined with a comfortable seat and suspension travel, Triumph has created a ride that’s both exciting and easygoing. Bonneville T120 Ace has a relaxed riding posture, heated grips as standard, an adjustable center stand, and a passenger grab rail.
Original Styling
More of the original’s DNA, aesthetics, details, and features have been incorporated into the Bonneville T120 Black’s design.
Beautifully developed, the T120 Black is a time-honored symbol, with sculpted flowing lines, meticulously carved badges and lights, and gorgeous dual clocks.
