In May 2022, Bikes Catalog observed 1,253,187 two-wheeler sales in India, with motorcycles accounting for the majority (819,940 units). Overall growth is slightly more than 9 percent compared to April 2022 figures (1,148,696 units), but motorcycle sales have increased by more than 11 percent. (735,360 units in April 2022). 1. Hero Splendor – 262,249 units
Unsurprisingly, Hero Splendor topped the sales list in May with 262,249 copies sold. The larger engined Splendor iSmart and Super Splendor models sold 33,754 units, while the Splendor Plus versions sold 2,28,495 units. Overall Splendor sales increased by more than 12 percent compared to the previous month (234,085 units). Priced between Rs 69,380 – Rs 79,600, the Hero Splendor line of commuter motorcycles is trendy in rural areas and Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns (ex-showroom, Delhi).
2. Hero HF Deluxe – 127,330 units
The HF Deluxe, another Hero commuter motorcycle, directly follows the Splendor. 127,330 people bought the Hero HF Deluxe, 26% more than the bike sold last month (100,601 units sold in April 2022). The price of the bike ranges from Rs 56,070 to Rs 64,520.
3. Honda CB Shine – 119,765 units
The CB Shine, which placed third on the May 2022 sales chart with 119,765 unit sales, is the only vehicle manufactured by Honda to feature in the list. It represents a 13% increase in monthly sales (105,413 units in April 2022). Honda Shine series prices range from Rs. 76,314 to Rs 80,314 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
4. Bajaj Pulsar – 69,241 units
The Bajaj Pulsar is the first non-passenger motorcycle on this list. In May 2022, the Pulsar line of motorbikes sold 69,241 units, up 50 percent from the previous month (46,040 units). The current models in Bajaj’s Pulsar lineup are the Pulsar 125, Pulsar 150, NS125, NS200, NS160, RS200, N250, and F250 including prices ranging from Rs 88,902 to Rs 144,979.
5. Royal Enfield Classic 350 – 29,959 units
In this month’s sales ranking, Royal Enfield’s legendary Classic 350 occupies one of the top five spots. May 2022 saw 29,959 reservations for the Cruiser, representing an eight percent drop from the 32,575 units sold last month. In terms of price, the Royal Enfield Classic 350 range is available from Rs 190,092 to Rs 221,297.
6. Hero Glamour – 28,363 units
Glamour, which sold 28,363 units, is the third hero in May’s top 10 sales list. Glamor merchandise spent more than 36% monthly (20,796 units in April 2022). The Glamour, the new Glamour, and the Glamor XTEC are the three variants currently available and are priced between Rs 76,500 and Rs 87,520.
7. TVS Apache – 27,044 units
Along with being the best-selling TVS model this month, the Apache line of motorcycles is ranked eighth overall. 27,044 units were sold in May 2022, against 7,342 units in April 2022. (268 percent increase). Note that the Apache RR310 is not included in these statistics. Instead, they only consider the RTR series models (160 2V, 160 4V, 180, 165RP, and 200 4V). TVS Apache RTR models are priced from Rs. 112,940 to Rs.145,000.
8. Bajaj Platina – 17,336 units
In May 2022, buyers of Bajaj’s Platina passenger received 17,336 units, a decline of 55.91% from the previous month’s figures. There are two versions of Platina: Platina 100 (Rs 61,152) and Platina 110.
9. Yamaha FZ – 15,068 units
The FZ, the only motorcycle made by Yamaha in this month’s top 10, attracted 15,068 buyers. FZ sales are down 8% from last month (April 2022: 16,508 units). The regular FZ, FZ-S, FZ-X, FZ 25, and FZS 25 models are part of the Yamaha FZ lineup. The FZ range is priced from Rs. 112,700 to Rs.149,100. (Ex-Showroom, Delhi)
10. TVS Sport – 11,818 units
By selling 11,818 units, TVS Sport ranks 10th in the list of top 10 sellers for May 2022, representing a nine percent drop from the previous month (April 2022: 12,995 units). The TVS Sport has two versions: Kickstart (Rs. 60,130) and Self-Start (Rs. (Rs. 66,493, both ex-showroom, Delhi).
