Suzuki 2023 RM-Z250 Dual Sports Motorcycle – Features and Specs
Engine Features
The fuel-injected, 249cc, four-stroke, liquid-cooled, four-valve DOHC engine is still reliable, well-proven, and features a center-port cylinder head. The engine produces excellent throttle responsiveness and strong peak power throughout the rev range. Optimizing the fuel/air charge in the combustion chamber using improved cylinder head intake port shape and finish increases engine output.

High-volume airflow is achieved by combining a wide air cleaner opening including a direct air cleaner outlet tube path into the throttle body. The fuel injection system features superior fuel efficiency, exceptional reliability, extra smooth power delivery, and simple tuning. Two fuel injectors provide sufficient fuel-air charge for high combustion chamber efficiency and high rpm power.
For optimal fuel and air atomization, the primary fuel injector sprays fuel over the butterfly valve at the bottom of the throttle body. A secondary injector air cleaner is installed in the inlet duct to give the fuel and air more time to mix and cool before entering the engine.
The Suzuki 2023 RM-Z250 Dual Sports Motorcycle features a new twin injector system delivering a high-capacity fuel pump to mix the fuel and air charge for exceptional throttle response. The unique design of the throttle body, which removes complex control linkage, allows the rider to experience a more direct connection to the engine.
The intake camshaft profile increases power at all engine speeds, with more valve lift than the previous model, Suzuki 2023 RM-Z250 Dual Sports Motorcycle. Cam chain tension adjustment and guide design minimize friction and mechanical damage.
A Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM) coating is applied to the small aluminum cylinder for strength, lightweight, and efficient heat transfer. To improve reliability, the milling of the piston pin holes is changed to reduce stress on the piston crown.
Thanks to a reliable Kickstarter and a precise and efficient automatic decompression system, starting the engine is still straightforward (eliminating the need for a bulky and expensive electric start system). With a focus on low-rpm performance, the high-flow exhaust system features a large headpiece, a smooth midsection, and a multilayer silencer with good flow throughout the rev range.
A four-layer exhaust silencer design maintains A.M.A. sound requirements while improving performance. A resin engine cover protects the stator cover (left side) and coolant pump (right side) from stones and debris.
Transmission Features
The engine’s increased power is matched by the second gear ratio and overall final ratio of the five-speed transmission, which provides exceptional acceleration. The gear shift works precisely and smoothly, keeping up with Suzuki transmission standards.
For racers, a reliable transmission is built with well-engineered components, such as carefully machined shift cams and matching gears. The multi-plate wet clutch uses a rack-and-pinion clutch release mechanism to provide the correct feel of engagement and disengagement points while riding. The drive chain is precisely and efficiently routed through the lightweight chain guide design.
Chassis Features
The Suzuki 2023 RM-Z250 Dual Sports Motorcycle’s frame and swingarm design continue Suzuki’s tradition of building great handling motocross bikes. Superior weight distribution front and rear is achieved by combining cast and extruded components in the aluminum alloy twin-spar frame, which balances weight and strength.
Compared to the previous generation frame, the Suzuki 2023 RM-Z250 Dual Sports Motorcycle frame has 10% more torsional stiffness while weighing 370 grams (0.8 pounds) less.
To further enhance the car’s nimble handling characteristics, the engine is moved higher in the frame, causing the crankshaft to sit higher in the chassis. The upper rear engine mounts are located on the outside of the cylinder head to improve rigidity and give the engine a straight path. Aluminum is used for the engine instead of steel to save weight.
Thanks to an innovative hydroforming method, the swingarm weighs 0.6 pounds (270 grams) yet is strong. Engineers used hydroforming to create a tapered swingarm beam, reducing the amount of heavy assembly welding and increasing stiffness. The subframe has hexagonal aluminum rails for easy access to the air filter, weight reduction, and a sleeker look.
The bodywork is made thinner by moving the sub-frame rails internally, which are also raised to make room for the giant air cleaner. In addition to the smaller design of the newly designed subframe, the thinner bodywork of the cockpit allows the rider unrestricted movement, especially during aggressive riding.
The thin-wire spring, spring guide, cushion rubber guide, and shock-absorbing lower link provided by K.Y.B. are lightweight and offer better movement response. The spring and link are one pound (447.5 grams) lighter than the previous model. This K.Y.B. shock features an upgraded rear lever ratio and specific damping force circuits to enhance the suspension’s traction characteristics.
With such an extensive tuning range, the damping force adjusters can be better adjusted to suit the rider’s style and riding conditions. Front suspension setup and maintenance of the high-performance K.Y.B. coil spring front fork is balanced and simple because its legs share the same springs and damping force components. It is a great advantage when riding often.
The free piston design of this fork improves damping characteristics by separating oil and air. The design also helps control damping cartridge pressure and spring return to maintain the flexibility and accuracy of the fork action. The Renthal aluminum tapered handlebar features a flatter bend with less pullback than previous versions to improve rider control during vigorous maneuvers.
Upper fork brackets that are light but strong complete the handlebars and front suspension. A Nissin two-piston brake caliper and 270 mm diameter wave-style front brake rotor enhance stopping performance and sensation. For the Suzuki 2023 RM-Z250 Dual Sports Motorcycle, a new brake pad material was developed to increase performance. A push-rod-style master cylinder more efficiently transfers the rider’s applied squeezing force to the lever.
The new rear brake master cylinder hugs the frame beam to decrease dirt contamination and the possibility of the rider’s boot touching them while riding. The wheels have a D.I.D. The Dart Star rims are black anodized and have a cross-sectional shape that reduces unsprung weight without sacrificing strength. The wheels are fitted with Dunlop Geomax MX33 tires, designed for the racetrack, to match the Suzuki 2023 RM-Z250 Dual Sports Motorcycle’s handling capabilities.
Additionally, the rear tire weighs almost half (160 kg) of the previous generation Suzuki 2022 RM-Z250. Sharp front fender and radiator shroud designs that integrate into the frame’s side covers, together with a raised tail, feature Suzuki’s beak-inspired appearance for speed while reducing weight and simplifying maintenance. It helps to make sense.
The motorcycle’s slim frame and practical appearance allow for various rider positions that improve comfort and handling. The Suzuki 2023 RM-Z250 Dual Sports Motorcycle features ergonomic improvements over the previous model to create a high level of rider control during competition. The handlebar grip position is moved 0.3 inches (7.4 mm) forward and 0.15 inches (3.8 mm) downward, and the rider’s footpegs are moved 0.12 inches (3.3 mm) forward and 0.2 inches (5.2 mm) upward.
The plastic gasoline tank weighs half that of the aluminum tank from the previous model and holds 1.66 US gallons of fuel. The side covers, inner fenders and seat base were meant to keep dirt and moisture out of the air cleaner, lessening the chance of airborne debris contamination.
To help the rider maintain control of the motorcycle, the thin seat has a unique density of foam. A large gripper panel on the cover extends from the nose to the tail of the seat. Modern logo graphics and bold striping highlight the Suzuki Champion Yellow bodywork.
