Technology

The Kawasaki’s latest cutting-edge electronics package has been used in the Ninja ZX-10R that delivers exceptional performance on the track. The new ECU gives an accurate real-time picture of the chassis by using the minimal software. Thanks to the Bosch IMU and latest Kawasaki’s proprietary dynamic modeling software, the electronic management technology helps in assisting the rider to get the full performance on the track.

An all-new IMU measures inertia along the 5-axis to ensure perfect readability. At the same time, the yaw rate is calculated by the ECU using Kawasaki’s patented software to offer six-axis chassis attitude input of lean angle and acceleration force for accurate management of electronic riding aids. The IMU features the S-KTRC that incorporates excellent feedback to help in minimizing acceleration while exiting corners on the track. The new Sport-Kawasaki Traction Control (S-KTRC) comes in five different modes including OFF so that rider can adjust his riding preferences accordingly. The S-KTRC helps in maximizing acceleration on exiting the cornering by allowing power slides and power lifts as long as forwarding acceleration is sustained.

The new Kawasaki Launch Control Mode is designed primarily to assist the racer by optimizing acceleration while launching from the standstill on the track. The rider can choose from three different riding modes that offer a more significant level of intrusion. The KEBC system enables the racers to select the amount of engine braking that rider prefers.

There are three different power options available in Ninja ZX-10R ABS, i.e. (Full, Mid and Low). An all-new Electronic Steering Damper (ESD) comes with unique settings that perfectly matches with chassis dimension. It ensures perfect comfort and outstanding control over the bike.

Engine

Thanks to the feedback from the Kawasaki’s championship-winning World Superbike team, the Kawasaki engineers have developed the next level engine. The motorcycle has got light crankshaft and fully optimized moment of inertial for quick engine response and lighter handling experience. An all-new and lightweight pistons enhance engine response while the Teflon resin coating helps in reducing friction. The long-reach spark plugs allow the large coolant passages in the cylinder head for superb cooling performance. The straight and wide intake and exhaust ports enhance the top-end power characteristics while the lightweight titanium intake and exhaust valves decline reciprocating weight. The new valve train reduces cylinder head height while the camshafts are carved from a forged Chromoly billet that is about a half-pound lighter than cast cams. The single valve springs with oval cross-sections are soft and lower to reduce overall cylinder head height.

An all-new ram air duct is located closer to the front of the bike for optimum air box filling efficiency. The new 10 liters of airbox helps in boosting engine response and low-mid range power for better racetrack acceleration. An all-new resonator chamber has been built in the frame spares to help reduce intake noise. The new 47 mm main electronic throttle valves (ETV) operate with high precision that helps in offering smooth engine response on the track. This system also enhances input to S-KTRC and it accommodates the Kawasaki Launch Control and Kawasaki Brake Control. An all-new titanium alloy provides better heat resistance than pure titanium so that the exhaust system can easily be made thinner and lighter without sacrificing durability. The new six-speed cassette gearbox ensures fantastic gear shifting experience.

Frame

The new Ninja ZX-10R ABS KRT 2018 Kawasaki Heavy Bike features the strong aluminum twin-spar backbone frame with optimized geometry for sharp circuit handling. An all-new steering head pipe position helps weight the front end for optimum feel. All-cast aluminum construction requires fewer pieces for low weight and welds. The direct lines from the head pipe to the swingarm pivot ensure more excellent performance. The engine is attached to the frame in a way that the center of gravity may raise while placing more weight on the front end.

The suspension system comprises up of the latest Balance Free Fork, which is jointly developed with Showa and the Balance Free Rear Cushion (BFRC) offering the best performance. An all-new Horizontal Back-link Rear Suspension (KP) provides the best linear feel that provides the wide adjustment range offering the best setting changes.

The Race-Spec Brembo Brakes are available with the Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake system (KP). A similar approach is used on the Ninja H2 and World Superbike race machine. An all-new radial-mounted 4-piston front brake calipers come as standard, while the front brakes come with Brembo M50 cast monoblock calipers, featuring four opposed 30 mm pistons that are attached with 330 mm Brembo disc for superb braking force. Outer edges of the disc have grooves down to the center of outer edges that helps in dissipating heat. The new KIBS high-precision anti-lock brake system offers smooth feedback and minimal lever movement for added braking confidence.
