Engine
An all-new Multistrada 1260S 2018 Ducati Motorcycle is available with the new Ducati Testastretta DVT 1262 engine. The engine provides high-rpm performance to ensure maximum power delivery, and it is possible by indecently varying the timing of the camshaft that monitors the intake valves and the camshaft that controls the exhaust valves. The engine provides smoother operation at low to mid-rpm thus, it ensures better power delivery and enhanced torque. However, this engine can change its characteristics continuously as rpm varies while complying with the Euro 4 specifications.
The motorcycle features the powerful 1262cc engine that sets the new benchmark for performance and rideability. The Ducati engineers have developed this engine with one objective in mind, i.e., the highest level of torque delivery at low-to-mid range rpm. The driver can provide 85% more torque under 3,500 rpm that is about 18% higher than the previous 2017 Ducati Multistrada 1260S model. It indicates that the motorcycle can quickly provide its highest torque output at 4,000 rpm.
The Ducati Multistrada 1260S has got increased piston stroke from 67.9 mm to 71.5 mm while its bore remains the same, i.e., 106 mm. It has got the new connecting rods, cylinder and brand new crankshaft. The DVT system was entirely recalibrated to ensure peak low-to-mid range torque delivery while bringing the peak output to 158 hp at 9750 rpm and max torque to 13.2 kgm at 7,500 rpm. Both the exhaust and intake are redesigned to ensure excellent performance. The exhaust pipes are redesigned and the pre-silencer has a new inner layout with a unique silencer. The input has a newly designed air intake mouth.
The new belt covers come with an attractive DVT logo on its metal support. The generator covers the bike’s engine and is redesigned to accommodate the latest gear sensor. The clutch covers and generators are painted in new Mercury Grey color options. At the same time, the part of the original component is the clutch slave cylinder, which is compact and has an integrated design. The engine tuneup has been revised with the focus on rideability and torque delivery in each riding mode changes according to selected gear.
