Marc Marquez to Split from Honda by Mutual Agreement

With HRC confirming the termination of their “collaboration,” the rumors of Marc Marquez riding a Honda for the next season may now be put to rest.

Marc Marquez to Split from Honda by Mutual Agreement

It has long been rumored, inside and outside the MotoGP paddock, that Marc Marquez and HRC will split ways after the 2023 season. After eleven years with the team that produced six MotoGP rider titles, 59 victories, and 101 podiums in the premier class, they ended with this.

The press announcement, which comes directly from HRC, only verifies that Marquez won’t compete for that manufacturer in the upcoming season. Where the Spaniard will be riding needs to be explained. The smart choice is for Marquez to join his brother Alex Marquez on the Gresini team and transition to Ducati power for the 2024 season, creating a Spanish dream squad.

Even if this information is new, we may soon learn where Marquez will ride in the upcoming season.

Marc Marquez and Honda Racing Corporation have mutually decided to finish their four-year deal early after the 2023 MotoGP World Championship season.

“The four-year deal between HRC and Marc Marquez has one year left, and both sides have decided to split ways after the 2023 MotoGP World Championship season. After 11 years of working together, the #93 and HRC have achieved six premier-class World Championships, five Triple Crowns, 59 wins, 101 podiums, and 64 pole positions. Both parties have decided it is best to pursue other avenues to achieve their goals and targets. At the famous 2013 Grand Prix of the Americas in Austin, Texas, Marquez won the premier class for the first time in his career on the Honda RC213V. Later that year, he would become the youngest premier-class World Champion. He successfully defended his championship in 2014 and won the first ten races of the season. As a rider for the HRC with the Repsol Honda Team, he won titles in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. Both sides will remain fully committed to supporting one other during the remaining rounds of the 2023 MotoGP World Championship.

‘HRC wishes Marc Marquez the best in his future endeavors.’

The racing world responds to Marc Marquez and Honda’s split. Barely an hour has passed since it was announced that Marquez and Honda will be splitting after the 2023 MotoGP season, and social media is already ablaze with congratulations, well wishes, and speculation about where the seven-time MotoGP champion will end up. Marquez also posted a heartfelt video on X (formerly Twitter) that features some of his greatest, last, and most memorable wins.
