Return them to the dust

Take the lead with a track record of winning races. The suspension setup is highly adjustable and provides smooth movement, firm damping, and maximum traction.

Advanced stopping power with next-level technology

The incredible speed capability is comparable to the next level of stopping power. A 270mm braking petal disc containing a dual-piston caliper provides quick response and a robust and consistent feel. For race-ready performance, a large diameter 250mm braking petal disc meets the front.

Confidence in your ride

The KX450 motorcycle has excellent features that impress confidence, from a fast and reliable start to superior braking power. In addition, the championship car is backed by decades of racing skills.

Engine

The Monster Energy® Kawasaki race team provided input for the four-stroke, single-cylinder, DOHC, water-cooled 449cc lightweight engine package, which produces peak power and torque profile that makes it easy to jump quickly on gas. The powerful KX450 engine features an electronic start system that is powered by a button and is powered by a small Li-ion battery.

The KX450 Valve Train is designed by Kawasaki World Superbike Engineers and uses state-of-the-art road racing technology. Finger follower valve activation lets larger valve diameters and more aggressive cam profiles. The new intake and exhaust valves are lightweight titanium, and the Bridged Box Piston Race Team is based on the factory bike.

With lightweight gears and shafts, the close-proportion five-speed transmission contributes to the motorcycle’s winning performance by reducing the weight while maintaining power. For 2021, the transmission will be paired with a new high-capacity cond disk-spring hydraulic clutch. The coil springs in the clutch have been replaced with conical disc springs, resulting in a lighter grip when the lever is pulled and a more comprehensive range of clutch engagement to help control. Larger clutch plates and better friction materials aim to maintain a lasting feeling as the clutch heats up during intense use. When the clutch is pulled in, the brand-new friction plates have off-seat segments to help separate the crisp disc and reduce drag.

Chassis

When riding at high speeds, the industry-leading compact aluminum perimeter frame enables accurate cornering through excellent front-end feel and agility. The new lightweight frame is made up of forged, extruded, and cast sections; its engine acts as a pressure part that contributes to the rigidity of the frame. A lightweight alloy swing arm defines the frame with twin tapered hydroformed spars in the cast front section and raw aluminum finish. The dimensions of the swing arm pivot, the output sprocket, and the rear axle locations were carefully chosen by the engineers to focus on gravity and balanced handling.

Brakes and suspensions

On the high-performance front, the Showa with A-KIT technology has 49mm coil spring front forks, with much larger diameter inner tubes that are the same size as those used by Kawasaki Factory Racing Squad (KRT). Large damping pistons can be easily used in forks for firm movement and firm damping.

A new Uni-Trak® linkage system at the rear is designed to work with shovel shock, aluminum frame, and swing arm. The bottom swing arm linkage allows a longer rear suspension stroke and more accurate rear suspension tuning.

Set and bodywork

In addition to the championship-proven technology, the 2021 KX450 radiator has aggressive styling and in-mold graphics on the shrouds, resulting in exceptionally smooth surfaces and racial shape finishing at the top of its class. The slim bodywork was designed to complement V-mounted radiators and trim chassis. With extended, softer surfaces that make it easy to move back and forth, each piece of bodywork aims to help riders move.
