The KLX230R was built from the ground up with trail riding in mind. The brand new 233cc air-cooled, 4-stroke single engine has a low to medium torque range and is well suited for uneven spaces. Confidence in the redesigned compact perimeter frame provides the necessary handling stability for trail riding, while greater ground clearance and suspension improve travel off-road performance.

Engine

The four-stroke air-cooled single-cylinder engine provides smooth, reliable and long-lasting performance in small sizes. The engine size and stroke are 67.0 x 66.0 mm, and the displacement is 233 cc. The long-stroke provides low solid to medium torque for smooth and easy handling. For easy-to-use power character and reliance, a basic SOHC two-valve design was adopted.

Regardless of outside air temperature or altitude, fuel injection maintains a constant fuel supply. It also allows the use of an electronic starter which allows starting with the touch of a button whether its engine is hot or cold and helps to clear the exhaust. The fuel injection system has a 32 mm throttle body for accurate response.

Chassis

The brand new high tensile steel frame, designed from the ground up for mud riding, provides the best handling needed for a pleasant trail ride for a variety of riders. By combining the engine and the frame, the engineers achieved low engine height maximum chassis balance, and low center of gravity in a small chassis. Motorcycle mobility is enhanced by its short 53.5 “wheelbase and high 11.8” ground clearance, which allows riders to communicate more easily on the ground.

At the front, a large, 37 mm diameter telescopic fork handles the suspension function. With a 9.8 “travel suspension, the rider has better control over different areas.

Wheels & Brakes

Full-size aluminum wheels, measuring 21 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear, help riders navigate the terrain, significantly improving trail riding performance.

The Kawasaki 2020 KLX230R Dirt Bike has front and rear petal disc brakes for reliable stopping ability. A 240 mm front disc with twin-piston calipers provides powerful yet easy-to-control brakes. A lightweight Kawasaki KX-type rear master cylinder with a unified reservoir and single-piston caliper holding a 220mm disc to slow down.
