Honda has updated its flagship adventure motorcycle, the Honda 2023 Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES Adventure Bike, with two new color schemes for 2023: the CRF1100L Africa Twin and the CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES. In addition to the classic Grand Prix Red, the athletic, lightweight, and sporty CRF1100L Africa Twin now comes in a new contemporary Mat Iridium Grey Metallic color, with black detailing to complement its jet-black wheels. Honda 2023 Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES Adventure Bike – Features and Specs

Broad Power Band

From 2,500 rpm to the redline, the 1,084 cc parallel-twin engine of the CRF1100 Africa Twin delivers strong acceleration. Robust and linear power and rapid reaction can be had at any rpm thanks to the 270-degree phased crankshaft and irregular firing interval, contributing to the engine’s unique sound and feel.

Choose your Transmission

The Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES may be had with either a manual six-speed transmission or a state-of-the-art automatic Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) with six speeds. DCT enables you to switch gears automatically using one of four different modes according to your riding style or environmental circumstances or manually using the triggers on the left grip of the steering wheel. The gear selection of the automated modes may be overridden at any moment using these switches.

Riding Modes

The Africa Twin’s riding modes are Tour, Urban, Gravel, and Off-Road, with two additional User modes for customization. Each mode has its own set of parameters for controlling the car’s torque, engine braking, anti-lock brakes, etc.

Inertial Measurement Unit

The Bosch MM7.10 six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) is the brains behind the Africa Twin’s superior on- and off-road performance by collecting data along all six axes and relaying it to other vital systems like the traction control, anti-lock brakes, and wheelie control. Thanks to the real-time alterations made by these systems, you’ll have complete command.

Cornering and Incline Detection

DCT versions with a six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) can detect turns and slopes. You’ll have more excellent command and a more natural gear change feel thanks to the IMU’s ability to see when the bike is turning or climbing steep terrain and adjust the shift pattern accordingly.

Assist Slipper Clutch

Slipper cams are integrated into the aluminum clutch center and pressure plate to facilitate upshifts and avoid wheel lockup during deceleration and downshifts.

Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC)

There are seven distinct torque-control settings, including “off,” on Honda’s Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) system. When the IMU detects a loss of traction at the rear wheels, it automatically adjusts the car’s torque to maintain optimal acceleration.

Wheelie control

The IMU provides feedback to the wheelie control system on when and how quickly the front wheel rises. Wheelie control may be adjusted to one of three settings or turned off entirely.

Exhaust Control Valve

A variable Exhaust Control Valve (ECV) is included in the exhaust system, much as the one found on the CBR1000RR. It opens at higher rpm and provides a pleasant exhaust-note ‘pulse’ at lower RPM, improving engine performance and economy.

Capable and Comfortable

The steel semi-double-cradle frame’s strength and stiffness balance aid off-road capability while enhancing all-around on-road characteristics. The Africa Twin is built to endure the roughest off-road journeys without sacrificing the conveniences of a touring motorbike or the versatility that makes it an ideal daily driver.

Aluminum Components

A lightweight aluminum subframe and swing arm allow greater steering precision and responsive handling.

The Africa Twin’s two-position seat (870 mm normal, 850 mm in the low position) allows riders of varying heights to find a good fit, with a short reach to the handlebar and a natural, relaxed posture when riding. The Africa Twin will keep you in charge, whether standing or seated.

Put on hold Mechanically.

The Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES and ES DCT use SHOWA EERA® (Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment) suspension, which allows for fully electronic suspension adjustments. The suspension dampers have five settings: harsh, medium, soft, off-road, and a user-defined option. Switching between the two is simple so you can use one for the smooth roadway and the other for the bumpy stuff.

ABS Brakes

The Africa Twin’s anti-lock braking system (ABS) collaborates with the bike’s inertial measurement unit (IMU) to avoid rear-wheel lockup and rear-wheel lift by analyzing data on speed, deceleration, and lean angle. It will ensure that you can stop swiftly while maintaining stability. Both on- and off-road modes are available, and the rear ABS can be disabled if desired.

Take it With You.

The Africa Twin has a sturdy aluminum rear rack with integrated passenger grab rails, making loading easy with a few days or weeks’ worth of luggage.

Improved Protection

The heated grips and five-position adjustable windscreen make this motorcycle ideal for long rides in all kinds of weather. The height and placement of the screen have been adjusted to enhance readability and security.

Multi-Information Display

The Africa Twin’s systems, such as riding modes, wheelie control, suspension settings, HSTC, and ABS settings, can be adjusted via the 6.5-inch TFT touchscreen Multi-Information Display (MID). The touchscreen can be used with gloves on.

LED headlights and Cornering Lights

The high-mounted dual LED headlights cast a vast and powerful beam, and the three-stage cornering lights automatically adjust the brightness based on the vehicle’s speed and lean angle (regulated by the IMU), providing an extra layer of safety.

Smart turn Signals

Instead of relying on a simple timer, the self-canceling front and rear turn signals determine when you’ve completed your turn or lane change by comparing the relative speeds of the vehicle’s front and rear wheels.

Apple Car Play(TM) and Android Auto

You only need a Bluetooth headset to access Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You may use the touchscreen display or the handlebar controls to access your music library, phone, and GPS. The phone connects to a USB charging connector on the right-side of the MID, or hands-free wireless Bluetooth communication is also an option.

Cruise Control

Cruise control is another impressive standard feature on the Africa Twin, making those lengthy straights between trails all the more pleasant.
