Harley-Davidson 2022 CVO Road Glide Touring Bike Review Specs

Generally speaking, Harley maintains the basic design of the previous CVO Road Glide model. However, the alterations on at least one of the three trim packages this year are significant. Most of the blackout treatment from the previous year is swapped out for lots of sparkle in the Wicked Orange Pearl package’s chrome forks, bars, turn-signal housings, exhaust, engine trim, and other parts. The fork sliders, exhaust, and engine trim on the single-tone Blue Steel variant, however, have a Contrast Smoked Satin finish and the same blackout components as the previous year. Naturally, the Envious Green Fade, with its reverse flame job, black flames over a blackout treatment that covers everything else, and red accents on the engine, has to be my favorite. The Harley-Davidson 2022 CVO Road Glide Touring Bike series distinguishes itself from the Batwing FL models by always sporting a front fender with a traditional design that is mounted to the frame.

The instrumentation consists of two analog speed/tachometer gauges, LED indicator lights, and a color TFT interface screen for the Boom! GTS Infotainment System behind the large front fairing and its cut-down smoked glass. Your demands for on-the-go communication, navigation, and weather updates are all met by the Infotainment System, which also rocks thanks to Rockford Fosgate components in Stage II audio package.

An upright, comfortable riding posture is made possible with a high-rise handlebar with many pullbacks at the beginning of the rider’s triangle, giving the feeling of tiller steering at the grips. Although they aren’t as far forward as accurate forward controls, forward footboards provide the bottom leg of the triangle that places your feet in the windsock position, which should offer a comfortable compromise for various body shapes.

You can expect a 25.9-inch saddle height when sitting if you weigh at least 180 pounds, which should give you confidence once you deploy your Fred Flintstones at stoplights or in the parking lot. Without a Tourpak or passenger backrest to obstruct the lines, the back end is maintained tidy. To complete the top-notch audio system, the standard hard bags install the rear speakers in their lids. Additionally, new for this year, the CVO Road Glide’s standard-length saddlebags replace the previous generation’s extended-length bags.

Harley-Davidson 2022 CVO Road Glide Touring Bike – Features and Price

Chassis

The Harley-Davidson 2022 CVO Road Glide Touring Bike, based on the iconic FL frame, has the thick front end and prominent double downtube/double cradle structure that has traditionally distinguished H-touring D’s family. The effective fork angle is 29.25 degrees, closer to expectations than the 26 degrees the steering head rides at, which is sort of short for a bagger. The forks not only have a wide diameter, but they also have the traditional beercan skirts covering the top fork tubes, giving them an even more prominent appearance.

With a 21-inch hoop up front and a massive 18-inches out rear, Harley’s Knockout wheels complete the rolling chassis, although the rims are a little odd. For the best of both worlds, they include a set of cast hubs and boundaries connected by appropriate spokes. The wheels still use 130/60 and 180/55 Dunlop hoops as their front and back tires, respectively.

You can swiftly modify the preload due to variations in passenger/cargo weight thanks to a hand-adjustable rear suspension.

The Showa Dual Bending Valve units, which give dynamic, demand-driven damping changes for a better ride than standard forks, are used in the front forks, which are not adjustable.

It is a big bike to manage, weighing 893 pounds when wet. As the first of many ride quality and safety improvements, the factory installed all-around 300 mm discs with four-piston calipers to bind them and dual brakes up front, of course.

Drivetrain

The Harley-Davidson 2022 CVO Road Glide Touring Bike’s general design is now relatively conventional for H-touring D’s portfolio. Still, its massive, 117-inch (1,923 ccs) Milwaukee-Eight engine puts it considerably apart from the other large motorcycles in the lineup. Yes, sports fanatics, this engine is the MoCo’s biggest production engine. The 10.2-to-1 compression ratio produced by the 104 mm bore and 114 mm stroke can withstand mid-grade pusholine. Instead of the Twin-Cam engine’s appearance, a single cam turns the four-valve heads through external pushrods, returning to the original pushrod-tube geometry. Naturally, this also affects the nosecone region, giving the Mil-8 a considerably more vintage appearance.

With 126 pound-feet of torque at 3,750 rpm and a strong roll-on that was unsurpassed by non-CVO vehicles until 2022, this engine has plenty to offer in every gear and at any speed. Although it will accelerate more quickly than the less noble variants, it is still limited to 107 mph, and therefore despite its enormous weight, it isn’t any faster than the rest of the series.

Harley-Davidson 2022 CVO Road Glide Touring Bike

The more advanced electronics provide a degree of control and safety that, until recently, were unheard of by America’s oldest brand. The ABS is given a corner-sensitive addition by H-Reflex D’s Defensive Rider Systems, including a Linked-Brake technology that divides the braking effort between the front and rear while calculating the available traction. A cornering Drag-Torque Slip Control that lowers the system’s back torque completes the package and carries the corner-enhanced magic into the traction control system. This last component works in tandem with a slip-and-assist clutch to provide two layers of security.

Harley-Davidson 2022 CVO Road Glide Touring Bike – Price

No matter which color you choose, the cost is the same as it has always been for CVO models. For $41,899, choose between Blue Steel, Envious Green Fade, or Wicked Orange Pearl.

2022 CVO Road Glide vs. Indian Challenger Limited

India covers the domestic market with its Challenger Limited.

The Indian Challenger Limited utilizes the new PowerPlus V-twin, which has an outstanding output of 122 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque. While it lacks the degree of fanfare used by the CVO Road Glide, it has some built-in safety features including a slip-and-assist clutch, traction control, and riding modes. Indian benefits financially from the price of $27,999.

2022 CVO Road Glide vs. Honda Gold Wing

The Honda Gold Wing, which has an almost cult-like following in the United States, is the next apparent rival. It has a 1,833 cc flat-six engine that is distinctive, rolls like a bagger, and is known for having a keenness in the bends that belies its enormous size. At $23,900, it also wins at the register.

2022 CVO Road Glide vs. BMW K 1600 B

If you prefer German technology, the K 1600 B, which has a six-cylinder engine, hits many of the same high points above. The mill produces 129 pounds of horsepower, which is precisely on a level with the competition and has a sizable electronics suite, all at $23,195, which fits the pattern and makes H-D appear very pleased.
