The Desert Sled is a new take on the classic off-road bikes of the 1960s and 1970s, inspired by California’s deserts and mountains. Desert Sleds were American-made bikes that first appeared in Southern California and Baja California, Mexico, in the 1960s and 1970s. These were stripped-down street bikes with engines displacing more than 500 cm3 and no non-essential accessories. Off-road tires and spoked wheels were installed, as well as enhanced suspension systems and engine skid pans. The engine skid pan, which protects the bike from pebbles, stones, and the harsh desert climate, is the actual reason for the Ducati 2019 Scrambler Desert Sled’s moniker.
Ducati 2019 Scrambler Desert Sled – Features
Because there had never been any kind like them before, these bikes developed into their motorcycle category throughout time. The new Ducati 2019 Scrambler Desert Sled brings that spirit back to life while staying faithful to the Scrambler way of life. Thanks to the unique red frame, swingarm, fork yokes, and suspension, spoked wheels (19′′ at the front), and ground-breaking lines, this bike is ideal for those who want to go off the beaten path. The Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled’s off-road prowess is shown by the type-approved headlight mesh guard, high mudguards (specially built for this edition), and, of course, the engine skid pan.

A revised lining maintains the seat height at 860 mm (a 20 mm lower version is available as an option), adjustable Kayaba suspension (with 46 mm fork diameter) including 200mm of travel, and off-road style footpegs including removable rubber pads give this Scrambler a unique riding position. It is possible to remove the passenger pegs, which are separate from the riders.
Wheels and Tires
The Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled’s spoked wheels are 19″ in front and 17″ in the rear, with black rims. The front tires are 120/70 R 19 M/C 60V M+S TL Pirelli SCORPIONTM RALLY STR, while the rear tires are 170/60 R 17 M/C 72V M+S TL Pirelli SCORPIONTM RALLY STR. The Ducati Scrambler’s large handlebars, updated flat seat, and altered suspension setup combine to provide a more comfortable and relaxed riding position. The new Bosch Cornering ABS increases active braking safety, enabling riders to get the most out of their rides. The new, softer-feeling hydraulic clutch control, as well as the adjustable lever, which, like the front brake, enables the lever-handlebar gap to be adjusted to individual needs, will be welcomed by riders.
