Ducati 2017 1299 Panigale S Super Bike – Features

Ducati 2017 1299 Panigale S Super Bike

Engine Features

The all-new Ducati 2017 1299 Panigale S Super Bike features the new superquadro’s bore to stroke ratio of 1.91:1. It’s short stroke crankshaft and compact pistons are combined with the larger Dermodromically-actuated valves allowing this sports bike to gives the best performance at higher RPM. The 1285cc engine has the best combustion chamber which ensures an ample torque. It’s L-Twin engine design gives better response and outstanding performance. The new clutch cover, cylinder head covers and an oil pan has golden-color magnesium allow for an ultimate strength and low possible weight. The use of large intake valve fed by advanced oval-section throttle bodies gives better airflow for more power output. The Ride-by-Wire system is independently controlled and each of the throttle bodies is fitted with 2 fuel injectors. One is set below the body and it operates in the lower RPM conditions. The other is mounted on the throttle body for higher RPM. The overall engine performance is better than 2017 Ducati Panigale R. The main bearings are lubricated by the pressurized oil through ducts inside the engine block. It gives an efficient lubrication of new crankshaft for rapid recovery of the oil due to the lobe pump that places the connecting rod compartment under the vacuum. This pump has special high-strength techno-polymer and it maintains the crankcase area below the pistons in controlled conditions of constant vacuum. The mixed gear and chain drive system are being used to control the large valves with efficient Desmodromic system. This chain drive precisely transmits the motion between the crankshaft and camshaft. An automatic tensioning adjustment provides an excellent reliability with the low routine maintenance costs. The opening and closing of throttle is controlled by the latest electronic Ride-by-Wire system. The absence of a mechanical connection between the twist grip and the throttle bodies lets the engine ECU to regulate the power delivery by directly adjusting the throttle. This system allows having different power delivery based on selected riding mode. The crankcase manufactured via vacuum casting technology is called as Vacural. It provides strength at low weight and it is designed in a way to incorporate the water jackets around the cylinder barrels. This innovative design allows the head to be fastened directly onto the crankcase giving rigidity and compactness. Thanks to their thin structure, the cylinder barrels efficiently transfer the heat to the coolant running along their walls. The crankcase stands out for the use of plain main bearings, which were used in Ducati Desmosedici RR engine. This bearing lets the use of large-diameter crankshaft journals, which maximize the rigidity and mechanical strength. There is the centrifugal decompressor at the end of exhaust camshaft of each cylinder head. When starts, it allows the cam opening lobe to be modified, slightly lifting the valve so that the part of combustion charge can escape the chamber during an engine’s compression phase. The use of six-speed gearbox ensures the best gear shifting experience of all times. It features the oil bath clutch, which is quite similar to the one used on many Ducati bikes.

Chassis Features

The all-new Ducati 2017 1299 Panigale S Super Bike contains the world-exclusive Ohline Smart EC semi-active suspension system. The use of the NIX-30 front fork, the TTX rear shock and the steering damper, the new system with the Bosch Inertial Platform and dynamically responds to changing roads and riding conditions ensures the best suspension performance. It performs in two modes i.e. Fixed, which is non-active and it allows the rider to choose the specific levels of rear and front compression and rebound along with the steering damper tension. These levels give an accurate level of suspension performance. Another mode is the Event Based mode, it is semi-active and it allows the rider to select levels of suspension behavior. This Ducati mode lets the system to dynamically adjust the compression, rebound and damper tension according to the rider conditions. Its chassis has a forms a structural backbone which is compact, rigid, lightweight and multi-functional. This It’s is cast in aluminum and it is mounted at the rear directly to the heads of the engine and it contains the steering head and bearing at its front. The new Monoscocca not only performs the function of the traditional frame but it also serves as an airbox. In this way, it significantly contributes to lowering the overall weight of the bike. This sports bike features the Pirelli’s Diablo Supercorsa SP tires. It features 120/70ZR17 at front and 200/55xZR17 at rear offering the best contact patch to transmit the power of an engine to the ground. It is designed to maintain the precise line in straights and on curves, the rear tire maximizes the area of contact due to its width of 200mm with the high profile. The tire compounds are derived directly from Pirelli’s experience and it features casings to ensure rigidity in extreme conditions. The special double compounds, which uses the latest polymers facilitates the rapid heating and constant grip. The new Marchesini tri-W spoke forged aluminum wheels are very strong and light in weight. This bike has an aggressive design like the previous Ducati 1299 Panigale S models. The new Ducati 2017 1299 Panigale S Super Bike has the latest technology with the complete package for ultimate riding. The overall design of the bike is kept fully ergonomic. The seat and handlebar positions are optimized to give best control and comfort during sports track riding. It’s aluminum foot pegs and the carefully shaped seat with the racing cover allows the rider to have perfect ride.
