2017 YZF-R1 Yamaha SuperSport Motorcycle – Specification and Price
Engine Features
The new 2017 YZF-R1 Yamaha SuperSport Motorcycle comes with the powerful 998 ccs of in-line, 4-cylinder, cross plane crankshaft engine. This engine contains the new titanium fracture split connecting rods. The special titanium alloy is used in the manufacturing of these new connecting rods, which are roughly 60 percent lighter than the conventional steel. That is why this engine is much lighter and much responsive than others. It provides extremely high horsepower and the strong pulse of linear torque. The 6-speed transmission is specially used for this engine. The transmission “stacks” the input/output shaft to centralize the mass plus it keeps the overall size of the engine much shorter. The latest rocker-arm valve actuation uses the lever ratio of arm that allow for larger valve lift while using the lower cam lobes. It not only reduces the spring pressure but it enhances the power. The lightweight magnesium covers are being used that reduces the further weight of the engine. The new 2017 YZF-R1 Yamaha SuperSport Motorcycle contains the new exhaust system, which is manufactured from titanium. It features the compact midship muffler contributing in to the mass centralization. The assist and slipper clutch is being used to give more confident to the rider during the downshifting, the same feature can also be found in 2017 Yamaha YZF-R6.
Electronics Package
The new 2017 YZF-R1 Yamaha SuperSport Motorcycle features the new Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), which uses six axes of measurement. It contains the gyro sensor that measures pitch, yaw, and roll. The G-sensor or accelerometer is used to measure the acceleration in the fore-aft, right-left and up-down direction. It has the ability to calculate all at the rate of 125 calculations per seconds. The IMU communicates with the ECU, which activates the Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) technology. This technology includes the best Power Mode, Slide Control system, Lift Control System, Traction Control System, Quick Shift System and Launched Control System. All of these systems are completely adjustable and can be saved within the four presets in this technology. The new Power Delivery Mode (PWR) is quiet similar to the D-mode system. This system lets the rider to select from the four settings of the throttle valve opening rate with relation to the degree of a throttle grip opening to match the riding conditions. The Variable Traction Control System (TCS) is performing well in reducing the spin of rear wheel while cornering. It estimates the difference in wheels speed in relation to the lean angle. It comes with ten different settings and rider can choose accordingly. It increases its intervention when the leaning angle starts to increase. The new Slide Control System is being used for the first time in any bike by Yamaha Brand. It works in conjunction with the new IMU, where, if the slide is detected by this system while accelerating, the ECU will intervene to control the power of the engine in the reduction of the slide. This system can be adjusted in four different settings. The Life Control System (LCS) IMU detects the front to rear pitch rate and the new ECU controls the engine power in order to reduce the lift-off front wheel. It is available in four different settings as well. The Launch Control System (LCS) confines the engine rpm to 10,000 even with the broader throttle. It maintains the optimum output of engine working with the input from TCS and LIF system to improve the acceleration from standing start. It is available in three different settings. The Quick Shift System (QSS) cuts the engine’s output so that rider can easily up-shift the gear without using a clutch or closing the throttle for better and quicker lap times. The QSS is available in three different settings. The new 2017 YZF-R1 Yamaha SuperSport Motorcycle comes with the YCC-T, which is a fly-by-wire technology offers an optimal power delivery. It controls the intake system that will broadens the spread of power in both low and high rpm. The bike features the brilliant full-color, thin-film transistor LCD meter. It includes the front brake pressure and other useful feedback. It features both street and track mode for best performance.
