Powerful 890cc Liquid-Cooled Three-Cylinder DOHC Fuel-Injected Engine

The renowned 890cc liquid-cooled CP3 engine powers the 2023 Yamaha MT-09 Sports Bike. Its 78 mm × 62.1 mm bore and stroke, with an 11.5:1 compression ratio, offer exceptional torque and exciting power delivery characteristics. By combining excellent combustion efficiency with minimal weight, an amazing 49 MPG is achieved.

Efficient Fuel Delivery System

All-new fuel injectors are part of the fuel delivery system and are mounted on the throttle valve side of the bodies. To achieve exceptional combustion efficiency, the injectors spray into the rear of the intake valve heads, atomizing the fuel and reducing the adherence of fuel particles to the port walls. Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) electrical technology, tested extensively on the YZF series and previous 2022 Yamaha MT-09 models, is used to actuate the throttle valve.

Fracture-Split Connecting Rods

Symmetrical Muffler with Dual Outlets

The left-right alignment of the exhaust tailpipes transfers sound pressure to either side of the machine, producing an exhaust note that gives the rider a torque-like sensation. Each stainless steel header pipe has a unique length and curvature for a powerful pulse effect.

Intake System Tuned for Sound & Performance

The intake system responds linearly when the rider opens and closes the throttle. Three intake ducts add to the engine’s superb sound at high and mid-rpm. These ducts’ varied cross-sections and lengths are intended to allow different intake sounds to resonate harmonically over different wavelength ranges. Adjusting the sound pressure creates A pleasant sound in the mid-and high-rpm range. The end product is an air cleaner box that produces excellent sound, improves acceleration sensation, and performs well.

Assist & Slipper Clutch

Optimized Transmission Ratios

Gear ratios for the first and second gears have been improved, with the first gear ranging from 2.666 to 2.571 and the second gear ranging from 2.000 to 1.947, respectively, slightly higher than in previous generation MT-09s. The transmission’s high speed of inertia of the crankshaft and fuel injection settings offer the ideal combination of solid torque feel and ease of operation from acceleration to stop.

Lightweight Aluminum Frame

The 2023 Yamaha MT-09 Sports Bike is designed to combine the MT’s renowned agility with an innovative, lightweight aluminum frame. A precise balance of longitudinal, lateral, and torsional stiffness is maintained to guarantee handling performance and straight-line stability. At 417 pounds, the MT-09 is one of the lightest bikes in its class, thanks to Yamaha’s use of the latest Controlled Filling (CF) die-casting technology in the frame construction.

Aluminum Die Cast Subframe

The MT-09 also features a controlled filling die-cast aluminum subframe, which reduces weight and gives the bike a characteristically agile feel.

The swing arm’s welded aluminum plate box design achieves excellent stiffness and low weight. The swingarm pivot structure of the MT-09 is externally attached to the frame. Braking for Sporty Riding

The 2023 Yamaha MT-09 Sports Bike’s advanced brake system front brake features a radial Nissin master cylinder to provide a more aggressive, sporty ride. The master cylinder’s piston travels parallel to the brake lever’s travel, which helps provide a more linear hydraulic pressure supply for better controllability.

Adjustable Riding Position

The riding position was designed to support cyclists with different body types. Thanks to the two adjustable handlebar and footpeg positions, riders can position themselves so they feel confident from the moment they get on the bike. The handlebar clamp rotates 10mm forward, and the footpeg mounts can be adjusted 14mm higher and 4mm rearward.

High Performance KYB® Front Fork & KYB® Rear Shock

For a smoother, more controlled ride, the 2023 Yamaha MT-09 Sports Bike features an inverted 41mm KYB® front fork with settings tailored to suit the characteristics of a more petite frame. Although the rider can more easily feel the suspension in action during the ride, these settings do so at the cost of slightly less pitch movement. Preload and rebound damping can be adjusted on the front and rear suspension, and compression on the front fork can also be adjusted.
