2023 KTM SX-E 5 Electric Bike – Features and Specs
Drivetrain Motor
The very tiny and sleek appearance of this battery-operated, all-electric, air-cooled permanent magnet motor blends in flawlessly with the smaller chassis of the KTM SX-E 5. In addition to being wear-and maintenance-free, it is waterproof and dust-resistant, and its integrated control unit (ECU) ensures a direct yet highly regulated power supply.

Frame
The KTM SX-E 5 has a contemporary frame design that combines maximum longitudinal stiffness with ideal torsional rigidity. It is composed of lightweight, high-strength Chromoly steel profiles. Lightweight, fiber-glass reinforced extruded plastic components that can be attached in two different ways to accommodate varying seat heights make up the subframe. This implies that your little racer and the KTM SX-E 5 may “grow” together.
Wheels
The 2023 KTM SX-E 5 is equipped with lightweight, black anodized aluminum rims that offer an ultimate strength and durability for every situation, just like the full-size KTM Factory racers. With their brand-new MAXXIS MX-ST tires, they provide unparalleled traction on every kind of terrain.
Front Suspension
The upside-down, fully adjustable WP XACT air fork, which has a 35 mm tube diameter and 205 mm of travel, is a feature of the KTM SX-E 5. Excellent comfort, dampening properties, and directional stability are thereby guaranteed. The ability to precisely adjust the air spring in the left fork leg to the rider’s weight using an air pump is another important advantage for juvenile riders.
Rear Suspension
The new cast swingarm is directly connected to the premium WP XACT shock absorber, which offers superior damping capabilities like in 2021 KTM SX-E 5. Since it is completely adjustable, you may precisely tune the damping to the rider’s liking and the specific circumstances of the track. The shock absorber permits a rear-wheel travel of 185 mm.
Brakes
The KTM SX-E 5 has lightweight wave disc brakes that are simple to manage, even for the youngest riders. This helps to develop their confidence and teach them proper brake control. The front and rear hydraulic brakes are provided by Formula.
Seat height
The 2023 KTM SX-E 5 Electric Bike’s seat height is adjustable to three different settings. The 665 mm seat height of the standard model may be quickly and simply lowered to 615 mm by repositioning the rear shock mount and lowering the bodywork and seat. The triple clamps allow the front fork to be lowered as well. The suspension can also be further lowered for a minimum seat height of just 560mm, which fits the tiniest riders who are four years old or less, by utilizing a Suspension Lowering Kit from the KTM PowerParts catalog.
Handlebar
Premium tapered NEKEN handlebars, composed of aluminum alloy for optimal stability and safety, are fitted on the KTM SX-E 5. Its circumference tapers down to 18 mm at the handhold region, 22 mm in the bends, and 28 mm in the center. This enables the left side to have a slimmer lock-on ODI grip installed, while the right side has a newly designed throttle assembly with a vulcanized ODI grip made especially for the electronic drive. The handlebar brace’s extra crash cushion protects the rider from hard impacts.
Decals
With its striking orange and blue design that perfectly complements the factory-look orange frame, orange seat, and race-sharpened bodywork, the 2023 KTM SX-E 5 has the newest in-mold graphics.
Safety
The rollover sensor on the KTM SX-E 5 turns off the engine in the case of a fall, and the motor is turned off by a wrist lanyard cut-off key in the event of an unmanageable riding situation. A dongle behind the seat allows the riding modes to be locked and stored for further safety. This prevents less seasoned, younger riders from accidentally switching to more potent riding modes.
Ride modes
Between the steering wheel and seat is a multifunction instrument display. The customer has the option to choose from six distinct riding modes here. From absolute novices to seasoned racers, each mode provides a variety of power characteristics. The battery’s remaining charge is also shown by the device.
Battery
Housed in a sturdy die-cast aluminum shell, the KTM SX-E 5’s 84 contemporary lithium-ion cells are positioned directly above the electric motor. This indicates that there is 907 Wh of stored energy, which, depending on the terrain and circumstances, is sufficient for almost two hours of riding for a novice and around 25 minutes of full-throttle racing. The battery pack’s lifetime and safety are guaranteed by the integrated battery management system (BMS).
