Delayed due to partnership with BMW, the first Taiwanese maximum-scooter is invited in the landscape of the large GT… A product is level, but not inevitably a gift.
Author of interesting openings in France with 125 products considered simple, reliable and with the gravitational tariff, Kymco board on its large scooter GT since 2007. In spite of a partnership with BMW concerning the assembly of the engine of the scooters C 600, it is a twin-cylinder of 699 Cm3 100 % house which one discovers in the entrails of this Myroad.
Developing 58.8 CH, equipped with a belt drive and aviator, it has the “heavy ” task to drive 300 kg in functioning order of Myroad. And it draws some… almost well.
Volunteer with low mode, vibrating relatively little and offering a regular push up to 5000 tr/min (95 km/h), it shows at ease of suburban use. But last this driving mode, it loses sound frankly, blends and spin many seconds before posting motorway speeds: frustrating for a “700”, and in withdrawal compared to competition.
If its broad contours and its unspecified lines, futuristic mask its imposing gauge badly, Myroad directs well, which facilitates the evolutions at low speed. On road, it part-cycle is imperturbable with constant pace and remains reactive on the angle in spite of the high weight. If braking with double disc before equipped with an ABS Bosch gives any satisfaction, one remains skeptical on the real interest of the suspensions ordered electrically with the handlebar.
Lastly, the legs at ease behind the broad apron, the bust sufficiently protected by the bubble (non adjustable), it is noted that the completion of the instrument panel and the plastics remains a notch below Japanese standards. But total comfort is quite present, the more so as the arrangements abound (2 crash helmets hold under the saddle).
Verdict
On a segment rich in innovations, Kymco presents a machine certainly succeeded, but already exceeded. Sold 8 199 €, it is not sold off either, since a Honda SWT 600 is negotiated currently less expensive…
In spite of its bubble non adjustable (but rather high), Kymco Myroad 700i proposes a protection of good quality. What adds to comfort, one of the strong points of this large scoot’.
Thanks to its imperturbable part-cycle, Kymco Myroad 700i is nimble in the curves, even with supported pace, and is at ease of suburban use. Its handiness (it directs well) compensates for its high weight and facilitates the operations at low speed.
Perhaps he does not seem of it like that, but Kymco Myroad 700i is a large gauge. What confirms is weight, too high: 281 kg dry?
Volunteer and pleasant with low mode, the twin-cylinder of 58.8 CH blows himself quickly after 5,000 turns. We raised a consumption of 6.9 liters.
If the front brake with double disc of 280 mm gripped by clamps with two pistons gives any satisfaction, it is not the case of the back, which shows its limits quickly. The liquid goes up quickly in temperature, reaching a too high level, which causes an effect of “fading”: the back disc becomes ineffective. The unit is assisted by an ABS.
