The 2023 KTM 450 XC-F Dirt Motorcycle comes in the pits fully equipped with a wealth of brand-new weaponry, thanks to the experience learned from past successes. The KTM 450 XC-F, the top 4-stroke in the Cross Country class for the year, carries its uncompromising READY TO RACE mindset to the starting line with a relentless push for the podium. A new frame, new rear shock, upgraded electronics and enhanced performance all point to it being ready to add to the trophy cabinet.
2023 KTM 450 XC-F Dirt Motorcycle – Features and Specs
DDS Clutch
The XC-F 450’s DDS (Dampened Diaphragm Steel) clutch replaces traditional coil springs with a single-diaphragm steel pressure plate. It has a dampening system for better durability and traction. The clutch basket, a single-piece steel CNC-machined item, was developed to accommodate the new gearbox in 2023 while still permitting the use of thin steel liners, contributing to the engine’s compact form.
Engine
The SOHC engine in the 2023 KTM 450 XC-F Dirt Motorcycle is at the bleeding edge of innovation, making it one of the most aggressive 4-stroke powerplants on the track. The engine is 2° rearward and has a lower sprocket position in 2023. It, along with the benefits of mass centralization and reduced weight, results in an unrivaled anti-squat behavior for the chassis. With your massive peak power output and lightweight engine (just 59 lb), you’ll leave the competition in the dust.
Cylinder
The lightweight aluminum cylinder features a 327 g CP bridged-box piston with a stroke of 63.40 mm and a diameter of 95 mm. The compression ratio of the piston has been increased to 13.1:1 for improved peak performance, and it has anodized annular grooves to boost lifespan and extend service intervals.
Throttle Body
The all-new 44 mm throttle body is a substantial upgrade for the KTM XC series in 2023. The throttle cable is hooked directly to the engine without the use of a throttle linkage, allowing for smoother, unfettered throttle action, and the injectors are positioned in a double-injector configuration to provide the most efficient flow into the combustion chamber—a move inspired by the KTM Factory Racing motorcycles. It equals more power, less effort, and cleaner, smoother fuel ignition.
Crankshaft
The crankshaft of the 2023 KTM 450 XC-F Dirt Motorcycle engine, which was built with weight reduction and performance in mind, improves throttle response and contributes to the motorcycle’s lightweight feel. Using a unique counter balancer shaft keeps engine vibration to a minimum, and the crankshaft flywheel and new rotor weights are appropriately balanced to produce the correct balance of rotational masses.
Exhaust
The 2023 KTM 450 XC-F Dirt Motorcycle exhaust systems are precision-engineered to give class-leading performance while being as light as possible. The small design of the header pipe is likely due to the flow-designed resonance chamber and connection location, which allow removal of the header pipe without removing the rear shock. More innovation provides for creating a short, light aluminum silencer without increasing noise levels.
Airbox
The airbox’s input ducts are precisely arranged to minimize air distortion and optimize filter protection and circulation. You may easily access the air filter by removing the left side panel without using tools. The new twin Air filter and filter cage design, which has a simple failsafe mounting technique for accurate and safe filter installation, makes maintenance simple.
Frame
A totally new frame design improves longitudinal rigidity and relocates spinning mass closer to the center of gravity to offer absolute control over even the most demanding route. Furthermore, more enormous frame walls give a superior rider feel, flexibility, and reliability. The placement of the footpeg mounting has been adjusted inside to limit the possibility of hooking up on rocks or roots, and a new shock mounting enhances anti-squat behavior for better traction out of corners. Furthermore, the forged brackets on the lower frame rails make skid plate installation straightforward.
Polyamide-Reinforced Aluminium Subframe
The revised 2-piece polyamide (60%) reinforced aluminum (40%) subframe gives significant weight savings of only 4 lbs. Computational dynamics was employed to help establish the subframe’s precise stiffness, which offers excellent handling and feedback while remaining durable and trustworthy.
Wheels and Tyres
They not only play the part, but they also act it! Lightweight, high-strength black alloy rims from GIANT are linked to CNC-machined hubs with silver-anodized aluminum nipples and lightweight spokes. The spoke nipples have been changed to reduce the frequency of spoke inspections and maintenance. A Dunlop GEOMAX MX-33F handles operations in the front, while a GEOMAX AT81 completes the package.
Footrests
The new CFD-designed footrests increase contact area for better bike control while standing on the pegs, but they also lessen the possibility of hooking up on rocks, logs, and deep trail ruts. It was made feasible by a new, thinner frame mounting design, which also helps to reduce weight.
Neken Handlebar
All KTM XC and XC-F models come standard with NEKEN high-strength aluminum handlebars with a tapered shape. Because of the distinctive KTM curve, the newly developed KTM branded bar pad absorbs unintended rider impacts and delivers the finest control. That is very elegant better than previous 2022 KTM 450 XC-F Model.
WP XACT Front Suspension
Air type with a diameter of 48 mm. The WP XACT front fork’s split-damping technology offers you the confidence to tackle the terrain. The redesigned hydrostops in the fork legs minimize rebound and boost resistance to bottoming out when hauling over country. Redesigned fork protection rings are not only more reliable but also dirt-resistant.
WP XACT Rear Suspension
The revised rear shock design reduces overall length and weight while maintaining the same suspension travel of 300 mm as the previous generation. Adjustment is now handled by a hand-adjustable dual compression control knob, allowing for quick, tool-free adjustment of the high- and low-speed settings. This, in conjunction with the recently designed rebound and preload adjustments, will enable riders to tweak their shock settings independently of a pit mechanic without needing equipment.
Hydraulic Clutch
Under all conditions, the exceptional Brembo hydraulic clutch system provides consistent wear, nearly maintenance-free operation, and faultless modulation. It implies that play is constantly changed to retain the same pressure point and clutch performance in hot and cold settings. Numerous hours of testing with a race-focused focus have shown the outstanding reliability of premium, Italian-made Brembo hydraulic systems.
Neken Handlebar
All KTM XC and XC-F models come standard with NEKEN’s high-strength aluminum tapered handlebar. Because of the distinctive KTM curve, the newly developed KTM branded bar pad absorbs unintended rider impacts and delivers the finest control. That is very elegant.
Fuel Tank
A new 2.24-gallon polythene gasoline tank with an integrated fuel pump and a threaded filling cap. The gasoline pump includes an outside fuel line strategically placed to prevent exposure and damage while providing a consistent, continuous fuel supply.
Functional Bodywork
The revamped and improved rider triangle on the 2023 KTM XC and XC-F series provides superior knee contact, especially while standing on the pegs, and improved gripping surfaces. New polymers assist in eliminating mud accumulation in wet, muddy conditions, while the high-grip orange seat cover and flatter seat profile provide exceptional rider mobility and control. A functional hold pocket beneath the seat, immediately above the airbox, makes gripping and elevating the bike much more accessible. The 2023 KTM XC and XC-F design is inspired by the early 1990s when purple was one of the brand’s prominent colors.
