BMW North America Issues ‘Stop Sale’ Notice For All Gasoline Bikes

A statement issued by WebBikeWorld that BMW North America reportedly provided verified the news of the BMW ‘Stop Sale’ letter early on:

Our goal at BMW of North America is to exceed our client’s expectations consistently. BMW constantly evaluates and tests its products to guarantee they are at the cutting edge of automotive technology.

BMW North America Issues ‘Stop Sale’ Notice For All Gasoline Bikes

BMW is taking action to investigate further the material used in a component of its motorcycle evaporative system after a recent quality investigation that indicated the feature may not have been created to material standards. Because of this, BMW of North America has issued a temporary, voluntary stop-sale for all BMW motorcycles in dealer inventory, both new and used, except for the CE 04.

BMW motorbike owners can continue using their vehicles as usual; the temporary sales halt is unrelated to safety concerns.

The all-electric CE 04 maxi scooter is still being sold, leading one BMW Motorrad dealer in the United States, Hermy’s BMW in Pennsylvania, to speculate that the news may be connected to emissions. Those who have recently purchased motorcycles may continue to use them, and we presume that the BMW North America dealer network can resume normal operations for service and sales.

BMW is about to introduce its new flagship R 1300 GS in the next few weeks so this stop-sale letter couldn’t come at a worse moment. It is unclear whether this issue will delay the bike’s release in North America.
