Serial 1 E-bicycle Key Features And Technology
All Serial 1 eBicycles are conceived and engineered in a dedicated facility on the Harley-Davidson® campus in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, using the same concepts and methods that govern the development of electric motorcycles. Mass centralization is essential for confident handling and superb vehicle dynamics. Serial 1 has made great efforts to develop a bike with a shallow center of gravity to deliver agile and predictable handling in all riding scenarios. Serial 1 eBikes are sleek and streamlined, with all wires and cables concealed inside the frame, integrated lights front and back, and smooth, clean lines that give the same fantastic aesthetic that Serial 1 customer demand. Finally, we have created fun and easy-to-use eBicycles by incorporating low-maintenance and simple-to-use technology such as a Gates Carbon Drive belt system, an auto-shifting CVT transmission (on select models), and self-adjusting hydraulic brakes.
Integrated Battery:
The lithium-ion battery is built into the bottom frame for a clean appearance and easy removal for off-bike charging. It may also be charged while riding by plugging it into a charging connector conveniently positioned on the bottom frame.
Mid-Mounted Motor:
The Brose mid-mounted motor delivers 90Nm/66 ft. lb. torque, which provides enough power support for a rapid launch from a standing start and allows the rider to overcome even the most challenging climbs. Mid-mount positioning near the crank reduces the center of gravity. It centralizes mass to improve vehicle handling, while an electronic torque sensor immediately records the rider’s pedal pressure and quickly supplies a proportionate amount of electric assistance. There is no need for throttle or any other action—just pedal and go.
Walk Assist:
A push-button “walk-assist” feature on the handlebar controls gives a modest degree of forward propulsion to help comfortably navigate the eBicycle at walking speeds, particularly if pushing it up a hill is required.
Belt Drive:
Doors Carbon Energy cummerbund is flat, discreet, and keep allowed. It does not need the periodic maintenance or adjustment that a chain-drive system does. It is never greasy or messy.
Auto-Shifting Transmission (on RUSH/CTY models only):
The Enviolo AUTOMATiQ clever automatic gearbox is an electronically controlled CVT (Continuously Variable) rear hub that automatically and continually adjusts the gear ratio to maintain the rider’s best-individualized pedaling cadence regardless of terrain or speed variations. It is fully sealed and requires no maintenance, and is available on all RUSH/CTY versions.
Handlebar Controls:
All versions have ergonomically positioned thumb-and-forefinger controls that enable the rider to turn the eBicycle on and off, change riding modes, turn on and off the integrated lights, and use walk-assist without taking a hand off the handlebar.
Hydraulic Disc Brakes:
Front and rear hydraulic disc brakes developed for eBikes use 203mm brake rotors to give confident braking performance in most riding conditions–essential for faster-moving eBikes and all-weather commuting.
Internal Routing:
Brake lines and electrical cables are run into the frame, which promotes longer life and less maintenance by providing weather protection and a clean, snag-free design.
Integrated Lighting:
After dark, a bright LED headlight installed on the handlebar stem lights the route ahead and might make the rider more visible. The bright LED tail and brake lights built into the frame dropouts are intended to increase the bike’s visibility from behind. A unique LED front trademark light, which lights anytime the eBicycle is switched on, pays tribute to the design of the historic headtube insignia on Harley-Davidson’s first bicycles from the teens and 1920s.
