The all-new 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000GT Sports Motorcycle smartly blends the championship performance of its GSX-R1000-based engine with an agile, lightweight chassis to provide riders with an exhilarating and comfortable GT riding experience. A Grand Tourer with sport bike-level functionality, cutting-edge appearance, and a wide range of optional equipment items is shown here.
The GSX-S1000GT meets what performance-minded touring lovers want more than just an advancement of the previous generation GSX-S1000F, whether they are embarking on a lengthy journey with a passenger or taking a fast solo ride up a winding ribbon of tarmac. The new Suzuki my SPIN connection program is built into the full-color TFT instrument panel and gives users quick access to contacts, maps, music, and phone communication. The GSX-performance S1000GT is a revelation, and it looks magnificent.
The 999cc four-stroke, liquid-cooled DOHC in-line four engine uses a long-stroke GSX-R design to provide smooth, constant power across a broad range. It improves the riding experience at low- to medium-range engine speeds, often used for everyday riding, and through mid- to high-range engine speeds, utilized while driving for extended periods on the highway. Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS) technology, which includes electronic cruise control, traction control, and rapid clutchless shifting, manages refined and controlled performance, making overtaking slower traffic an opportunity rather than a problem.
The twin-spar aluminum frame and superbike-braced swing arm provide stable, agile handling and excellent road grip. The new trellis-style sub-frame design is visually attractive. It allows for a thicker, more comfortable passenger seat while providing secure attachment points for the optional, large capacity 25.7 L side cases. With its completely adjustable, inverted KYB fork and simple-to-adjust rear shock, the GSX-load S1000GT’s capacity and suspension control can adapt to each new location. Brembo’s 310mm floating rotors and twin, ABS-equipped, radially mounted, four-piston front brake calipers provide the regulated stopping power required to travel two-up confidently.
2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000GT Sports Motorcycle – Features and Specs
Engine Features
The long-stroke GSX-R engine in the GSX-S1000GT has been improved to enhance peak horsepower and a broad, smooth torque curve over the whole rpm range. In addition to reducing emissions, new camshaft profiles balance the engine’s performance and drivability while boosting rider control by reducing lift and valve overlap.
Updates to the cam chain tensioner and tension adjustment increase longevity and decrease friction. The cylinder head is machined using Suzuki’s renowned Twin Swirl Combustion Chamber (TSCC) design. When combined with the flat-top pistons, it results in an ideal compression ratio of 12.2:1, which aids in distributing power evenly over the whole rev range.
Cast aluminum pistons are designed for the best stiffness and weight using Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis.
Although the engine covers (clutch, stator, and drive sprocket) have been upgraded with a new form and finish, the engine case finish exudes a vital quality. The GSX-S1000GT has new electronic throttle bodies, resulting in a smoother and even more regulated engine response, mainly when the rider presses the throttle to accelerate out of turn.
The GSX-improved S1000GT’s engine performance results from the air cleaner’s revised internal construction, which also keeps the thrilling intake sound for which the GSX-S1000 is known.
The new stainless steel, 4-2-1 exhaust system on the GSX-S1000GT is entirely revised and adjusted while retaining the under-chassis design, sleek appearance, and exhilarating tone of the system on the previous generation GSX-S1000F. The sculpted muffler has a pleasant look that is rare to under-chassis exhausts and produces an exciting, distinct sound that won’t overrun the rider and passenger’s senses. A refined Suzuki Exhaust Tuning (SET) valve controls flow from the mid-chamber into the muffler.
With the help of digital ignition, iridium-type spark plugs are ignited, which improves the spark and combustion efficiency and results in greater power, a smoother throttle response, a more straightforward engine starting, and a steadier idle. Also, these high-quality parts have a longer lifespan than standard spark plugs: the radiator shrouds and lower cowl effectively direct cooling air to the curved, high-capacity radiator.
The engine’s additional heat is dissipated using a lightweight, portable liquid-cooled oil cooler (like those used on specific GSX-R models).
Transmission Features
The GSX-race-proven S1000GT’s six-speed, close-ratio gearbox has vertically staggered shafts to shorten the engine, similar to a GSX-R1000. The rider may quickly and easily choose the optimal gear for the riding circumstances thanks to the precision shift linkage. The GSX-S1000GT is equipped with the most recent model of the Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) clutch. The SCAS clutch now works as a slipper clutch to smooth the overall engine response during engine braking and turn entrance while increasing plate pressure during acceleration more than ever. Power is delivered smoothly and silently thanks to the sturdy 525 drive chain’s use of O-rings to maintain internal lubrication.
Chassis Features
Suzuki’s tried-and-true twin-spar aluminum frame contributes to its excellent road grip and responsive handling. Since the primary spars are placed directly between the steering head and the swing arm pivot, they are stiffer and lighter. The dependable, aluminum-alloy swing arm originates now from the GSX-R1000 and is robustly reinforced to offer excellent road holding while boosting its modern superbike appearance.
A single shock absorber with a link-type rear suspension attached to the swing arm with a seven-way adjustable spring preload and rebound damping force. With a large 120 mm (4.7 inches) of front wheel travel, the 43mm inverted KYB fork includes adjustable compression and rebound damping as well as spring preload adjustability.
The TRP six-spoke, lightweight cast-aluminum wheels are exclusive to GSX-S1000 models and add to the bike’s agile handling and dynamic performance. Dunlop’s new Road sport two radial tires (120/70ZR17 in the front and a new, wider-sized 190/50ZR17 at the rear) were specially built to function ideally on the GSX-S1000GT. They provide excellent traction in dry or wet situations, quick warm-up, and extended tread life.
These wheels and tires provide the excellent grip, stability, and snappy handling necessary for sporting performance while adding to a pleasant ride thanks to updated front- and rear suspension settings. While riding alone or with a partner, dual front brakes with completely floating 310 mm discs and Brembo Monobloc calipers with four 32 mm opposed pistons provide robust and reliable stopping power.
A 240 mm rear disc brake featuring a Nissin single-piston caliper works with the front brakes to guarantee smooth stops. A new, compact Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) controller can regulate both the front and back brakes to adapt stopping power to the available traction.
The new 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000GT Sports Motorcycle has a more upright riding posture than the previous GSX-S1000F, which increases comfort and control. The new matte black, tapered cast-aluminum handlebar enhances the excellent riding ergonomics and performance-focused design.
Rubber vibration absorbers are installed on the metal footrests for the rider and passenger. It increases comfort, particularly on lengthy rides, by reducing the vibration conveyed to the feet. A new dynamic design for the rider and passenger seats optimizes comfort on long trips. Both feature a unique weatherproof covering material that balances grip and mobility. The passenger seat is 2.3 inches (60 mm) above the rider’s seat to provide a decent view over the rider’s shoulder. The black finish complements the bike’s performance-oriented design on the shifter, rear brake, and hand levers.
Body and Styling Features
As a result of the revised top and lower fairing’s form, the rider experiences less direct wind pressure on their head, shoulders, and knees. The redesigned windshield, which was engineered to optimize wind protection for the rider and passenger and hence improve the Grand Touring experience, is mainly responsible for the GSX-aerodynamic S1000GT’s performance.
A 2.75 in. (70 mm) higher version of the standard windscreen is available as an option, called the Touring Windscreen. This optional screen’s forward arc further decreases the airflow to the rider and passenger. The redesigned fairing-mounted mirrors and mirror stalks result from aerodynamic performance and wind protection. To minimize the quantity of wind that reaches the rider’s hands, the head and stalks were designed to streamline the flow of air through the mirrors.
The GT’s optional, high-capacity side cases have a compact form that blends flawlessly with the motorbike’s crisp, futuristic look. They are designed with enough storage space and the flexibility to clip on and off the motorcycle in seconds. The petrol tank on the new 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000GT Sports Motorcycle has a capacity increase of up to 19 L (5.0 US Gal.), which will lessen the number of stops for gas when commuting or touring.
The new GSX-style S1000GT aims to represent the performance potential, comfort, and enjoyment of this genuine grand touring motorbike aesthetically. In addition, the GT’s design seeks to reflect the elegance and sophistication of a Suzuki motorbike that comes equipped with cutting-edge rider assistance features like S.I.R.S. and my SPIN.
The GSX-sharp S1000GT’s lines, dramatic new front face, and aerodynamic good looks all testify to the athletic personality of this GT bike, from designer ideas to wind-tunnel tweaking.
When installed, the optional side casings and Touring Windscreen have an integrated look since they were designed simultaneously as the essential motorbike.
The fairing sides’ new, distinctively designed “GT” logo gives them a grand tourer-appropriate air of sophistication and intelligence. The fuel tank’s new subtle SUZUKI insignia further add to the vehicle’s upscale appeal. The exclusive GT emblem is included in gold writing on the grip of the custom-made ignition key, adding an opulent touch and fostering pride of ownership in this new model.
