2022 Kawasaki KLX230 Dirt Motorcycle – Features and Specs

Suspension

New Uni-Trak with 6.6-inch travel rear suspension and a minor two-stage front suspension with 6.2-inch travel. Adopting smaller dual-phase springs with a more substantial spring rate than the KLX230 and KLX230 ABS versions, the front fork has shortened a total of 2.4 inches, reducing the seat height by 2.2 inches. The rider is protected by a 37mm telescopic front fork with a total travel of 6.2 inches, which enhances the rider’s confidence when passing through rugged terrain or piloting on the road. The upgraded Uni-Trak rear suspension, which is more shock-absorbing than the spring rate, provides 6.6-inch wheel travel while improving handling and collision absorption.

Ergonomics

The overall height of the new seat is 32.7 inches. The KLX230S motorcycle’s frame, seat and tank were designed to balance form and function, making it easier to hold the edge by the legs and providing maximum chassis control. The KLX230S has a low seat height of 32.7 inches thanks to its compact design and improved suspension.

The flat shape of the tank and seat, like KXTM motocross motorcycles, allows the rider more mobility by changing the riding positions and allows the rider to sit further forward. In addition to the dual-purpose ride, comfort was also taken into account when deciding the shape and thickness of the seat.

Engine

Small in size, the four-stroke air-cooled single-cylinder engine provides smooth, reliable, and long-lasting performance. The engine is 67.0 x 66.0 mm in length and stroke with a displacement of 233cc. Longstroke torque is powerful in the low to medium range, allowing smooth and easy handling. For easy-to-use power character and reliance, a basic SOHC two-valve design was adopted.

Fuel injection ensures that fuel flow is uniform and free from outside air temperature or altitude. It also allows for adopting an electronic starter, which allows a simple start at the touch of a button regardless of whether the engine is hot or cold and increases emissions.

Chassis

The high tensile steel frame provides excellent handling for comfortable and reliable riding on both dirt and road. By combining the engine and the frame, the engineers achieved lower engine height, more excellent chassis stiffness balance, and a lower center of gravity in a smaller chassis. The motorcycle’s movement is aided by its short 53.5 “wheelbase, which allows riders to communicate more easily on the ground.

Wheels & Brakes

21 “front diameter and 18” rear diameter full-size aluminum wheels help riders to travel in different regions, increasing riders’ confidence and overall performance.

The front and rear petal disc brakes are standard on the KLX230S motorbike, providing sufficient braking power. The twin-piston caliper makes the brakes stronger and more accessible to adjust, thanks to the 240 mm front disc. A unified reservoir and single-piston caliper grip a lightweight, KX-type rear master cylinder with a 220 mm disc.

Styling & Instrumentation

The KLX230S is styled after Kawasaki’s KX motocross motorcycles, giving it a vibrant, aggressive look similar to its trail riding abilities. A 1.9-gallon gasoline tank ensures that leisure time continues throughout the day.

Between the handlebars is an easy-to-read instrumentation dash with an on / off switch, indicator lamp, low fuel warning lamp, and FI warning bulb.
