Unique and Beautiful Polychromatic Blue Scheme

The new Breitling edition Speed Twin has a stunning Polychromatic Blue color scheme inspired by Marlon Brando’s blue Triumph Thunderbird 6T from the classic 1953 biker film, “The Wild One.” The color scheme pairs well with the blue and black face of the Triumph Speed Twin Breitling edition chronometer.

The color was spectrograph-matched to an actual 1950s Triumph factory paint sample book using a color chip in mint condition from the original Thunderbird paint option. Breitling’s signature jet-black stripes and writing complement the custom-blended Polychromatic Blue. Gary Devine, the leading painter on the Triumph team, used jet black paint for the side panel and the headlight bowl, making this a one-of-a-kind limited edition design.

Stylish Design Details

Willy Breitling, inspired by both racing and café-racer culture, set out to reimagine the watch in the middle of the 1960s so that it could symbolize the era’s speed-driven fashion. As a response, Breitling released the Top Time, a strikingly oversized chronograph that quickly became a hit with the active set.

Today, the Top Time Triumph chronograph comes in two distinct variants, one reserved solely for purchasers of the Speed Twin Breitling Limited Edition. The core collection model has a vertically brushed opalescent dial. The limited edition model has a stunning sunray dial. When you purchase a watch from Triumph for your Speed Twin before August 22, 2022, you may have it engraved with your bike’s serial number.

Both watch variants stand out due to the icy blue of their dials. This unique shade is based on two different models: the 1951 Polychromatic Blue Triumph Thunderbird 6T and a 1970s Breitling Top Time Ref. 815 with a blue dial.

A simple racing motif on the calfskin leather strap gives this timepiece’s hero dial center stage. The Breitling and Triumph emblems are separated at the 12 and 6 o’clock positions. The clock’s stop, start, and reset buttons are conveniently located on oversized mushroom pushers, and the instrument’s high contrast tachymeter scale facilitates the reading speed readings. The clocks are powered by the Breitling Caliber 23, a COSC-approved chronograph with a power reserve of about 48 hours.

Additionally, the case backs of the clocks include an elaborate design sketch of the renowned Triumph parallel twin engine, which is sure to be a hit with fans. There was a lot of planning for the placement of this artwork. Layers of detail are revealed, some of which are only apparent to those who have a direct connection to the original motorbikes via ownership or extensive knowledge.

High Performance

In 2021, the Speed Twin’s endearing 1200cc High Power Bonneville twin engine will undergo a major overhaul that will deliver more performance and reduced emissions, making it fully comply with Euro 5 standards. The engine now has 100 PS at 7,250 RPM, 3 PS more than the previous version, and higher middle power overall.

Along with its very potent and linear power delivery, the 2021 Speed Twin also has a broader torque curve, with a peak torque of 112Nm hitting almost 500rpm lower down the rev range compared to the previous generation.

With a lighter crankshaft and alternator, the Speed Twin engine is now more responsive. The result is a 500-rpm increase in the red line, allowing the engine to rev more vigorously and for longer than before. New high-compression pistons, redesigned ports, and a revised cam profile round out the list of enhancements.

The addition of new brushed stainless steel megaphone twin upswept sports silencers has amplified the distinctive sound of the Bonneville Dual. These silencers were designed to provide a deep, throaty roar befitting the Speed Twin’s legendary title. Because of the exhaust header’s ingenious and uninterrupted route, the catalyst box is effectively concealed, giving the vehicle its signature straight-line appearance.

As with other models in Triumph’s Modern Classic line, the high 10,000-mile/16,000-kilometer first significant service interval helps keep costs down.

Class-leading Handling

In addition to its well-known reputation for superb, comfortable handling, the new generation Speed Twin benefits from several significant upgrades that make it even more accurate, agile, and dynamic.

The all-new 2021 Speed Twin has higher-end cartridge damping and upside-down 43mm Mar Zocchi front forks, making it a more secure and pleasurable ride with 120mm of wheel travel and improved comfort. The ride quality and precision of the 2022 Speed Dual Breitling Limited Edition have been enhanced with fully adjustable Ohlins piggy-back dual rear suspension units with gloss black springs.

The braking power of the next-generation Speed Twin has been upgraded with modern, higher-specified components, including Brembo’s 4-piston M50 radial Monobloc front brake calipers and twin 320mm Brembo discs. When paired with the standard Nissin 2-piston floating rear caliper with 220mm disc and ABS, they deliver a quicker initial brake bite, more feel, and improved fade characteristics.

The 2021 model comes equipped with brand-new, lightweight 12-spoke wheels made of cast aluminum, measuring 17 inches in diameter up front and rear. These wheels are responsible for the 2021 model’s exceptional grip, precision, and high-speed stability.

The Speed Twin motorcycle is well-balanced, making for a relaxed and confident ride. The ergonomics are tailored to provide the rider with a more natural position on the bike, with a low, front-mounted seat (809 mm), a small stand-over width (520 mm), tapered handlebars, and a foot-peg position (roadster) that is 38 mm farther forward and 4 mm lower than the Thruxton.

Enhanced Technology

The latest generation Speed Twin has several rider-focused technologies, including a sophisticated ride-by-wire system that guarantees precise throttle control and provides three riding modes (Rain, Road, and Sport). The rider now has more control over traction and throttle response thanks to these 2021 enhancements. The rider may easily switch between riding modes while on the go to accommodate varying road conditions and improve their sense of security. The rider can disable traction control at any time through the instrument panel.

The bike features turn signals, an LED taillight, and a unique LED Daytime Running Light (DRL) if allowed by local rules.

Modern 3D clocks often include a digital menu system that may be accessed using a scroll button located on the handlebar. The rider may adjust the traction control settings, see the TPMS indicator (if the accessory is fitted), choose between two trip modes, check the fuel level, and see how far they can go before they run out of gas. As a bonus, it shows both typical and current fuel use.

A USB charging outlet is hidden under the seat, a tire pressure monitoring attachment is available, and the expensive Triumph key doubles as an immobilizer with a transponder.

More Premium Style and Detailing

More refined details have been added to the new 2021 Speed Twin, making it seem even more stunning. It combines Triumph’s traditional roots with the sophistication and simplicity of today’s custom fashion.

New 12-spoke cast wheels, twin upswept sporty silencers, and brushed stainless-steel headers set the Speed Twin apart from other motorcycles, as do the bike’s signature 14.5L tank with knee indents, beautiful bar end mirrors, sculpted side panels, and elegant bench seat.

High-end details and materials are used throughout the bike, such as the brushed aluminum front and rear mudguards with new mounts, side panel finishers, and heel guards. In addition to the new anodized headlight mounts and painted headlamp bowl, the classic Monza fuel cap and the transparently anodized aluminum swingarm are lovely accents.

The Genesis of a Motorcycle Icon

The first motorbike to include a successful parallel twin engine packaged onto a chassis, the original 1938 Triumph Speed Twin was a delight to ride. Triumph was the first motorcycle manufacturer to set the bar for performance and handling excellence with its lightning-quick response and silky-smooth dynamic handling. It was also widely hailed as the world’s first genuine “riders’ bike.”

Regarding torque-rich performance, agile and dynamic handling, and jaw-dropping contemporary custom motorcycle flair, the brand-new Speed Twin is the new gold standard.
