The S1000GT’s GSX-level performance and stunning design are both surprises.

2022 GSX-S1000GT Suzuki Sports Touring Bike – Features and Specs

Engine Features

The GSX-S1000GT has a revised long-stroke GSX-R engine that produces total horsepower and a more uniformly strong torque output across the board. New camshaft profiles reduce emissions without compromising performance or driveability, and they improve the rider’s sense of agency by decreasing lift and valve overlap. The tensioner and the mechanism for fine-tuning it have been modernized to extend the life of the cam chain and reduce friction.

When paired with the flat-top pistons, Suzuki’s famed Twin Swirl Combustion Chamber (TSCC) architecture in the cylinder head machines out a perfect compression ratio of 12.2:1, which helps distribute power evenly over the whole rpm range.

Pistons made of cast aluminum are optimized for stiffness and weight using FEM analysis. The engine case finish is exceptionally high quality, and it contrasts nicely with the new design and appearance of the engine covers (clutch, stator, and drive sprocket).

New electronic throttle bodies on the GSX-S1000GT provide a more refined and controlled engine response, especially when the rider is applying power to pull out from a bend.

The GSX-improved S1000GT’s engine performance comes from a redesigned air cleaner’s internal architecture, which also retains the GSX-exhilarating S1000’s intake sound.

The GSX-new S1000GT’s stainless steel 4-2-1 exhaust system is an all-new design, yet it maintains the under-chassis layout, minimalist aesthetic, and exciting sound of the GSX system.

Transmission Features

The S1000GT, which is race-proven on GSX bikes, has a GSX-R1000-like six-speed close-ratio gearbox with vertically staggered shafts to make the engine shorter. The precise shift linkage makes it easy for the rider to choose the best gear for the conditions.

The Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) clutch from the newest generation is standard on the GSX-S1000GT. While boosting plate pressure during acceleration to new heights, the SCAS clutch now acts as a slipper clutch to smooth the overall engine response during engine braking and turn to enter. The potent 525 drive chain has O-rings installed to shield the lubricant on the inside.

Chassis Features

The tried and proven twin-spar aluminum frame of the Suzuki aids in its exceptional road grip and quick handling. The principal spars are more lightweight and rigid since they are between the steering head and the swing arm pivot.

The sturdy aluminum-alloy swingarm is borrowed from the GSX-R1000 and is heavily strengthened to provide outstanding road holding and enhance the bike’s sleek, futuristic superbike look.

The rear suspension consists of a single shock mounted on a swing arm, with spring preload and rebound damping that can be adjusted in seven different ways.

The new 43mm inverted KYB fork features adjustable compression and rebound damping, as well as brand new spring preload, and provides a massive 120 mm (4.7 inches) of front wheel travel.

Whether riding alone or with a friend, you can rely on the tremendous stopping ability of dual front brakes’ 310mm floating discs, and Brembo Monobloc calipers’ four 32mm opposed pistons. In addition to the front brakes, a 240mm rear disc brake equipped with a Nissin single-piston caliper aids in ensuring controlled stops.

To match braking force with traction, a new, compact Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) controller may adjust the front or the rear brakes.

The new GSX-S1000GT is more comfortable and easier to handle than its predecessor, the GSX-S1000F, thanks to its more upright riding position. The rider’s and passenger’s metal footrests have rubber vibration absorbers attached to them. It improves ride comfort, especially over longer distances, by dampening vibrations before they reach the feet.

The rider and passenger seats have been updated with a new dynamic design that significantly improves long-ride comfort. Each has a special coating that keeps out the elements and provides a comfortable balance between traction and movement.

Styling Features

The rider’s head, shoulders, and knees are subjected to less direct wind pressure because of the redesigned upper and lower fairing shape.

The new windscreen is significantly responsible for the GSX-aerodynamic S1000GT’s performance since it was developed to provide wind protection for the rider and passenger, resulting in an enhanced Grand Touring experience. An optional 2.75-inch-taller (70-mm-taller) windshield, appropriately named the Touring Windscreen, is also offered. The front arch of this extra screen substantially reduces the airflow to the rider and passenger.

To improve aerodynamic efficiency and shield the mirrors from the wind, the mirror stalks and mirrors have been modified and are now attached to the fairing. The head and the stalks were created to streamline air passage through the mirrors, decreasing the wind reaching the rider’s hands.

The optional GT big-capacity side cases are sleek and modern in design. They can be rapidly attached and removed from the motorbike and include ample storage capacity.

The new GSX-inspired design of the S1000GT is an attempt to visually capture the bike’s performance potential, comfort, and fun-to-ride nature. To top it all off, the GT was styled to evoke the refined sophistication of a Suzuki motorcycle, complete with state-of-the-art rider aids like S.I.R.S. and my SPIN. From the initial concept to the final adjustments in the wind tunnel, the GSX-like sharpness of the S1000GT’s lines, dramatic new front face, and aerodynamic good looks all speak to the bike’s sporty character.

The Touring Windscreen and optional side cases were developed simultaneously with the motorcycle, so they fit seamlessly once mounted.

The body of the GSX-S1000GT is now offered in two more colors:

The new “GT” emblem on the fairing sides is elegantly crafted, befitting a grand tourer. The new, understated SUZUKI logo on the gas tank contributes to the car’s sophisticated aesthetic.

To instill a sense of luxury and pride in this new model, the special GT symbol is engraved in gold on the grip of the bespoke ignition key.

Electrical Features

The GSX oil-cooled S1000GT boasts a three-phase charging system that provides adequate juice for the ride-enhancing electronics and maintenance-free batteries. The engine may be started with a light push of the starter button thanks to Suzuki’s Easy Start System (without pulling the clutch lever if the transmission is in neutral).

Instead of a conventional wiring harness, the CAN-style cabling used by the GSX-computer S1000GT functions as a connected information network. A new 32-bit engine control module manages and optimizes the GSX-electrical S1000GT and S.I.R.S. components (ECM).

The GSX-S1000GT comes with Suzuki’s state-of-the-art multifunction handlebar switches, configured to improve operator comfort and efficiency. A Local Interconnected Network (LIN) wiring circuit ensures rapid and accurate data transfer between the TFT LCD gauge cluster and the steering wheel controls.

The GSX-TFT S1000GT’s LCD, ECM, and other electronics were tested in an anechoic chamber to ensure they were immune to magnetic interference from the outside world.

The new GSX-aerodynamic S1000GT is complemented wonderfully by the compact, dual LED headlight system inside the fairing’s snout.

The unique mono-focus LED technology used by Koitohigh- ®’s and low-beam headlights produce crisp, focused light that illuminates the road without glare.

The GSX-high S1000GT’s visibility is enhanced with an ample, V-shaped LED position light built into the brow of the front, fairing above the two LED headlights with hexagonal forms. This arrangement produces a new, brighter appearance than any other motorcycle.

LED front turn signals are housed in slim, arrow-shaped housings that protrude from the main fairing. Tiny LED rear-turn lights in the shape of arrows compliment the bike’s unique design and match the sleek contours of the tail section. A multi-function LED light accompanies them.

Improved visibility and longer lifespan are two benefits of the new LED headlights, position light, turn signals, and taillight that come standard on the GSX-wind-cheating S1000GT.

LCD Multi-Information Display Features

The GSX-S1000GT has a revolutionary new 6.5-inch full-color TFT LCD screen in the instrument cluster. This TFT screen was designed from the ground up for usage on motorcycles, making it the first of its kind on a Suzuki bike.

This high-quality instrument panel is installed within the inner fairing above the handlebars, providing better vision and shielding from road debris. The large TFT LCD includes a scratch-resistant coating and an anti-reflective coating that improves readability in bright light.

The brightness-adjustable TFT display adds even more use, pleasure, and convenience when synced with the rider’s smartphone, which can then display directions, incoming and outgoing calls, contacts, and music. The rider may adjust all the bike’s settings and see how they work in real-time.

Suzuki MYSPIN Connectivity Features

Mobile users may get the SUZUKI my SPIN app from the Apple App Store or Google Play at no cost. After setup, my Spin’s five included motorcycle-specific applications provide helpful functionality.

My SPIN applications are displayed on the TFT LCD screen in a format and with fonts that are similar to those used by the motorcycle’s systems, making for an easy transition for the rider to make use of the new left handlebar switch assembly. This knowledge will be handy for making adjustments and accessing functions while on the road.

The SPIN system has valuable apps, such as a phonebook, map, music player, and calendar.
