2021 Kawasaki W800 Classic Street Motorcycle Review Specs Price

The 2021 Kawasaki W800 Classic Street Motorcycle is the closest replica of the 1966 Kawasaki classic W1 model in appearance and feel. It gives riders a great sense of the 1960s machine with the pulse of the throat retro air-cooled vertical twin engine, but it has been extensively modernized. The Kawasaki W Retro Classic series is based on the spirit of the 1960s, with classy authentic design, sound and feel. The modern W800 motorcycles are a real throwback to the famous W1, designed to pay homage to the past with modern technology and features in mind.

2021 Kawasaki W800 Classic Street Motorcycle – Features and Specs

Unique Key Features

  • Traditionally styled electronic devices.
  • Vertical twin engine with bevel gear drive camshaft.
  • The manufactured exhaust note emits a heart sound.
  • Advanced assist and slipper mounted.

Engine

The 773cc long-stroke engine is suitable for low to medium-range performance and produces a lot of torque. The W800 engine is primarily silver in color to emphasize its classic design and attractiveness. The 360-degree crankshaft has a distinct pulse of the engine. Vibration is reduced using the balance shaft.

The engine’s considerable torque is aided by its heavy flywheel. A single overhead camshaft powered by bevel gear activates four valves per cylinder. The chrome bevel gear cover enhances the traditional shape. Intake funnels that are longer and narrower improve mid-range performance.

Digital Fuel Injection (DFI)

Fuel injection provides accurate fuel metering, clean exhaust, and a simple start. Incoming air is sent directly from the airbox to the cylinders via 34mm throttle bodies. Sub-throttles are used to provide the best engine response and reduce noise levels. The classic shape is enhanced with a painted steel throttle body cover.

Assist & Slipper Clutch

The Assist and Sleeper Clutch (KP) is small, and its working plates help reduce the lever draw, making the lever feel very light. The clutch is easier to control when it has a wide range of engagement.

The clutch is pressed together during acceleration (Assist function) using the rotating forces of the clutch hub and pressure plate, allowing the use of low and light clutch springs for a soft feeling on the lever. The sleeper function allows some clutches to slip during high back-torque conditions, such as when the low gear is selected while shifting down, rear wheel hops and reduced stops due to engine lock-up.

Double Cradle Frame

The W800 motorbike has stable ride quality and a well-balanced overall design thanks to the double cradle frame, with a durable 50mm square section backbone. Round pipe-down tubes complete the backbone of the 50mm square section and return to the classic sixties. For better aesthetics and weight savings, gaskets and brackets were kept to a minimum.

The premium appearance is enhanced by round tubes with a clean finish and a few welds and gussets. Kawasaki’s state-of-the-art dynamic analysis calculated the accuracy required for each piece of pipe, ensuring optimal performance while reducing weight.

Suspension

The sturdy frame is completed with a 41 mm front fork with stiff springs, a rigid lower triple clamp, a rigid swing arm, and rigid rear shocks. Rubber fork boots protect fork tubes and seals while adding to the old look. There are dual rear shocks with adjusted spring preload, paying homage to the 1960s suspension.

Wheels/Tires

The combination of a large 19-inch front wheel and 18-inch rear wheels combines comfortable handling, light twists, and superb straight-line performance while maintaining a vintage riding feel for a truly classic motorcycle. The spokes and spoke nipples are covered with a coating that helps to remove dirt and grime when washed, and the silver aluminate-coated aluminum codes are corrosion-resistant.

Twenty-two-ply tires of the tube type have the conventional running pattern with the added benefit of modern technology that provides excellent traction.

Ergonomics

Anciently straight, comfortable riding position. Riders can adjust the part of the lever with a five-way adjustable clutch lever and a four-way adjustable brake lever. The highly padded two-person tick-and-roll set is stylish and classic in appearance. The front of the seat is designed to help riders keep their feet on the ground during stops.

For those riders who want to customize their ride, the W800 CAFE model set is a natural alternative. Knee guards on the tank allow riders to grab the W800 with their legs.

Instrumentation

Traditional devices include individual speedometers and tachometers with classic displays and models.

An odometer, trip meter, and clock are all displayed on the multi-function LCD panel. A FI warning lamp, dual turn signal indicator, low fuel level indicator, neutral indicator, high beam indicator, and oil pressure warning lamp are some of the many indicator lamps available.
