2021 Kawasaki Z400 ABS Street Motorcycle – Features and Specs
Unique Key Features
- The fast, predictable response from a powerful engine.
- Easy to use assist and sleeper clutch with a light pull and wide engagement range.
- Large front brakes for excellent stopping power.
- The slim seat design helps improve ground access.
- Trails frame provides light, predictable handling and contributes to critical work.
Engine
The downdraft intake track takes intake air into the cylinder in a short, straightway, increasing cylinder filling efficiency and contributing to power, especially at high RPM. Dow draft intake also helps to free up space behind the seat, giving it shorter access to the ground. Larger airboxes help with intake performance, which in turn increases power. During acceleration, the airbox design lets the rider hear the engine’s intake notes more clearly.
The unequal height of the intake funnels helps to smooth the throttle response by filtering the torque dips. The 32 mm throttle valves are elliptical and have an angle closed position, which aids in quick throttle response as the valves open rapidly after initial movement.
At all engine speeds, 7mm intake and 23.5mm exhaust valves increase efficiency. Fake camshafts, usually only available on large displacement machines, help save weight.
Oil jets cool the underside of the piston, giving the piston a lighter design. The open deck design of the aluminum die-cast cylinder allows good heat dissipation and reduces engine weight—a sleeveless cylinder in which a mounted bore is used. To help reduce the total engine height, the cylinder is moved 20 degrees. The engine’s light flywheel allows it to revolve faster, giving it a faster response and a sense of direct power.
Transmission/Clutch
The Assist and Sleeper Clutch (KP) is small, and its working plates help reduce the lever draw, making the lever feel very light. It’s easy to control with a wide range of engagements.
The clutch is pressed together during acceleration (Assist function) using the rotating forces of the new clutch hub and pressure plate, allowing the use of low and light clutch springs for a soft feeling on the lever. The sleeper function allows some clutches to slip during high back-torque conditions, such as when the low gear is selected while shifting down, rear wheel hops and reduced stops due to engine lock-up.
Positive Neutral Finder(KP)
At one stop, shift the pedals above the first gear to select neutral. It is just a Kawasaki item.
Chassis
The design of the trailer frame is comparable to that of the Ninja H2TM. The structure was designed using Kawasaki’s state-of-the-art dynamic stiffness analysis to achieve maximum stiffness with minimal weight, which significantly increases the overall low curb mass of the bike. Combining a short wheelbase and an extended swing arm, as well as a sharp steering angle, results in lighter, more agile handling.
Suspension
The square tube swing arm provides stiffness without excessive gusting, resulting in weight savings. Ride quality is better than the suspension linkage ratios and shock settings behind the Uni-Trak® (KP). The 41mm fork provides rigidity and smooth suspension movement, resulting in more front-wheel engagement.
Wheels/Tires
The stylish Star Pattern 5-spoke wheels, comparable to the Z650 motorbike, help save weight and improve handling by increasing cornering performance. Radial tires are lighter, have more traction, and contribute to both agile handling and comfort during the ride.
Brakes
A balanced activation dual-piston caliper grips the large 310 mm semi-floating petal front disc. For a more positive feeling, a stiff front brake master cylinder helps reduce idle strokes. A 220 mm rear-wing disc is closed with a large piston by a rear dual-piston caliper. In some cases, Nissan’s latest compact ABS control unit helps with braking.
Ergonomics
Riders of all sizes and riding scenarios can take advantage of the comfortable position. The seat cushioning is thicker and uses less rebound urethane for extra comfort, as well as the tightness of the riders’ feet to reach the ground quickly.
When riding, sporty aluminum foot pieces make an immediate impression. The bike has an upright riding position, a broad and straight handlebar, and a sporty but forward fogging position that allows the rider to control the bike while also providing considerable comfort efficiently.
Styling
Built for the road, authentic lightweight sprinkled. With its small chassis and dynamic appearance, it reflects the modern street flair and is instantly recognizable to the crowd.
