2022 690 Enduro R KTM Adventure Bike – Features and Specs
Engine & Exhaust
Airbox
The location of the airbox beneath the seat makes it simple to access the air filter while riding. It makes maintaining the bike when off the usual path straightforward and stress-free.
Engine
The engine combines potent acceleration from the lowest revs with an exceptional free-revving nature and smooth operation. The vehicle’s fuel economy is also a significant advantage.
Piston
The lightweight and resilient forged piston is intended to minimize reciprocating mass, hence enhancing engine responsiveness.
PASC Clutch
The PASC (Power Assist Clutch) reduces the amount of input required by the rider to operate the clutch by transmitting less engine torque to the clutch plates. The slipper grip minimizes rear wheel lock-up during strong downshifts, hence reducing destabilizing rear wheel noise on the road while braking or decelerating into corners.
Gearbox
When amid the action, the 6-speed transmission with Quickshifter+ enables clutchless upshifts and downshifts. It not only enhances rear wheel traction by allowing the rider to maintain a firm hold on the handlebars, but it also allows the rider to maintain greater control of the motorbike.
Ride-by-wire
The KTM 690 ENDURO R is fitted with a ride-by-wire technology that interprets throttle twist grip motions using electronic sensors and controls throttle action by activating the throttle valves. It considerably enhances the responsiveness, providing the rider with enhanced throttle control and a more comfortable ride.
Injection / Engine Management
All-new Electronic fuel injection and engine control provide performance optimally adapted to the circumstances of the ride. The result is higher and better-regulated power, lower fuel consumption, and fewer pollutants, in addition to the advantages of technologies such as MTC (Motorcycle Traction Control), MSR (Motor slip regulation), and Quickshifter+. The rider may choose between two distinct mappings to modify the engine’s characteristics. A twin-plug ignition system separately controls two spark plugs of various sizes in the cylinder head for more efficient combustion and a more consistent, carefully regulated combustion sequence.
Long service intervals
In addition to its fuel economy, the KTM 690 ENDURO R’s extended service intervals of 10,000 kilometers save its owner even more money.
Slipper clutch
Irritating rear wheel chattering? It is protected by the standard slipper clutch that is installed.
Exhaust
The exhaust system is constructed from high-grade stainless steel. It is routed near the motorcycle to contribute to its thin profile, and the exhaust form has been tuned for intense off-road use.
Chassis
Fuel tank
The large fuel tank holds 13.5 liters of petrol. It is also a load-bearing component, making the chassis more rigid for improved handling and feel.
Frame
The trellis structure is made from lightweight lengths of chrome-molybdenum steel tubing of varied wall thicknesses of premium quality. This style of balanced frame design delivers high torsional stiffness for optimal handling and ride quality. At the same time, a more precisely-tuned longitudinal flexibility may absorb wheel impact energy and support the suspension to prevent rider fatigue.
Subframe
The novel use of the rear gasoline tank as the primary structural component of the subframe reduces weight and avoids design complexity.
Swingarm
The swingarm design permits an excellent mounting location for the rear shock, providing a fast progression rate. Casting a single component avoids the irregularities and weak areas in a welded swingarm.
Triple clamp
Highly robust forged triple clamps with an offset of 24 mm (adjustable to 22 mm), providing a firm hold on the forks for precision handling. They enable forwards and backward adjustment of the handlebars in four distinct settings for optimal rider ergonomics.
Front Fork
Riding across rocky terrain is more straightforward with the WP XPLOR 48 upside-down fork. WP and KTM initially designed the KTM 690 ENDURO R’s split fork concept for the EXC versions. It is supplied with springs on both sides with independent dampening functions – compression on the left and rebound on the right-hand side. They have no damaging effect on each other. Therefore, damping can be changed using the dials on both fork tubes, including 30 clicks of adjustment each.
Rear Shock
The new WP XPLOR shock absorber is attached to the swingarm via a linkage. It guarantees a progressive suspension nature and a solid resistance to bottoming out. Fully adjustable, with high and low-speed compression, you may set up the shock absorber for any situation and rider choice.
Wheels & tires
The KTM wheels employ lightweight, CNC-machined hubs and high-end 21″ and 18″ rims to combine maximum strength with the least weight. The rims are covered with Continental TKC 80 tires — delivering exceptional traction and a high lifetime.
Brakes
Sublime class-leading BREMBO brakes paired with lightweight wave discs – 300 mm diameter front and 240 mm on the rear tire –give a critical balance of stopping force and a consistent brake feel.
Ergonomics & Comfort
Seats
The 2022 KTM 690 Enduro R’s seat height is 910 mm for ease of access without losing ground clearance, while the seat material is created for offroad riding and is slightly textured to provide optimal wet and dry grip.
Handlebar
The new lightweight tapered 808mm wide handlebars are rubber attached to prevent vibrations. Their breadth and form are geared at offering optimum control in all scenarios.
Footpegs
Sophisticated “No Dirt” footpegs avoid clogging up the pegs, even while digging your way through deep ruts or crossing damp terrain. Rubber inserts may be added for street usage to lessen any vibration that can be perceived through the pegs on smooth surfaces.

Software & Electronics
Offroad ABS
When selected, ABS function on the front wheel exclusively in the optional offroad ABS mode of the 2022 KTM 690 Enduro R. The rider may lock up the rear wheel for offroad vehicle control. In contrast, limited ABS activation on the front wheel aids efficient deceleration in loose conditions. The standard ABS setting is no longer lean angle sensitive in this mode and does not detect the rear wheel raising.
Rider aids
The new Electronic fuel injection, ride-by-wire, and engine management system (EMS) enable innovative but easy-to-use electronic rider aids. These characteristics may be chosen, deselected and employed to put the powerful new-generation LC4 motor to efficient use in a more comprehensive variety of terrain types and situations.
Lean Angle Sensor
A lean-angle sensor maintains track of the bike’s angle. It provides information to the ECU and related control units, which utilize this data to change traction control and ABS activation.
MTC (Motorcycle Traction Control)
An all-new MTC (Motorcycle Traction Control) lean-angle sensitive traction control technology responds promptly the second the rear tire rotation speed becomes inappropriate to the riding scenario. In just milliseconds, MTC decreases engine output with an incredibly smooth, scarcely detectable intervention at the throttle valves until slippage is decreased to optimum proportions for the chosen riding mode and current lean angle. For extremely adventurous riders, the traction control may be disabled.
Cornering ABS
KTM’s Cornering ABS mode enables riders to always employ the maximum power of their brakes in all situations while considering the lean angle of the motorbike. In an optional Offroad ABS mode, the ABS only functions upon the front wheel, while cornering sensitivity is removed. In severe cases, the rider might even disengage the ABS entirely.
Dashboard
The dashboard provides the rider with critical information in an easy-to-read arrangement.
