2022 KTM Freeride E-XC Electric Dirt Motorcycle – Features and Price
Engine
Ride modes
On a race-ready motorcycle, three alternate riding modes are offered to adapt the powertrain’s response to different skill levels while providing the most efficient energy management tailored to the rider’s needs. And according to their preferences: unlimited mode “Cross,” where full power up to 18 kW is available, Economy with a speed cap of 50 km/h and Enduro with a power cap of 16 kW is available as standard.
Drivetrain
The clever, advanced control unit that powers the brushless electric motor on the KTM FREERIDE E-XC has been specially designed for this use and ensures highly efficient power delivery for the most enjoyable riding experience. There is no easy way to ride a motorcycle as full torque is available from a standstill, negating the need for a gearshift lever or clutch. The tighter and more winding the circuits, the more the enjoyment. With 18 kW of peak power from the advanced motor in Cross Mode 3, the KTM FREERIDE E-XC easily competes with many motorcycles powered by combustion engines. Additionally, when the economy mode is engaged, the vehicle can recuperate braking and coasting deceleration energy for additional range gains. The KTM FREERIDE E-XC offers complete operating safety without sacrificing performance simultaneously. The innovative, fully sealed powertrain and KTM Powerpack technology pose no electrical hazards even when completely submerged in water.
Display
The rider can choose from three different power delivery modes on the multi-functional display between the steering wheel and the seat. Additionally, a sequence of LEDs from green to red shows how much energy is still in the KTM Power Pack. When the charge drops below 10%, the red LED blinks, and the bike automatically enters “lame home mode.” The red LED also flashes at different frequencies to indicate trouble codes.
Control unit
The state-of-the-art control unit is an advanced electronics suite that contributes to the KTM FREERIDE E-responsive XC’s yet highly responsive power delivery. It is water-cooled to guarantee reliable performance in any environment.
Chassis
Frame
The KTM FREERIDE E-chassis XC is made of high-quality chrome molybdenum steel and bolt-on forged aluminum components, making it incredibly light. The motor and significant aluminum skid plate are compression components in the open bottom of the frame. Even in high jumps, this design offers maximum rigidity and stability for safety.
Subframe
A high-strength polymer was used to create the bolt-on subframe. It reduces the vehicle’s overall weight thanks to its excellent stiffness. The integrated grip handle protects against mud and grit kicked up by the rear tire and setback.
Front Suspension
The new WP XPLOR 43 fork, a set of 43mm inverted fork legs with 250mm of travel, is used by the KTM FREERIDE E-XC. WP XPLOR 43 offers excellent response and damping properties, a sensitive feel, and resistance to bottom-out. With springs on both sides, the fork has a distinct design including compression damping on its left and rebound damping on its right, both easily adjusted using a dial on top of the fork.
Rear Suspension
With 260 mm of wheel travel, the WP XPLOR shock absorber is the ideal complement to the WP XPLOR 43 fork. The successful PDS rear suspension is a classic KTM Competition Enduros design that avoids the weight and complexity of a linkage by mounting the shock absorber directly above the swingarm. The WP XPLOR incorporates a second damping piston with a closed cup towards the end of the stroke to provide additional protection against bottoming out, adding to the advances made by the suspension geometry and progressive spring. Is. The shock absorber independently adjusts high and low-speed compression damping and rebounds adjustment. A custom kit designed for the KTM Power Parts program is available to lower the seat height by 25mm.
Wheels
KTM FREERIDE E-XC’s premium wheels are unmatched in weight and durability as they are constructed with anodized aluminum giant rims, CNC machined hubs, and lightweight aluminum spoke nipples.
Brakes
The new KTM FREERIDE E-XC has been updated for 2021 with new front and rear brake systems for better feel, performance, and extended brake pad wear. It features a newly developed Formula system with floating calipers, one-piston rear and two-piston up front, and thinner brake discs. The technology ensures solid and safe brakes and sets the standard for controlled action and performance.
Ergonomics & Comfort
Footrests
The long, narrow seat of the 2022 KTM Freeride E-XC Electric Dirt Motorcycle is easily unlocked and unfolded to access the KTM Power Pack, providing unimpeded mobility with exceptional comfort. With a seat height of just over 900mm, most riders can make ground contact even in challenging terrain, which boosts confidence and gives the rider a greater sense of security. It is especially beneficial for newborns. An additional seat with an even lower height is available in the KTM Power Parts line of high-quality accessories.
Handlebar
KTM FREERIDE E-Tapered XC’s Neken High-Strength Aluminum Handlebar has the same bend and width as the EXC handlebar, enhancing rider control and ergonomics. The handlebars feature ODI grips, including an easy lock-on grip on the left side that doesn’t require wire or glue to attach securely.
Bodywork and Graphics
Dashboard
The 2022 KTM Freeride E-XC Electric Dirt Motorcycle features a dashboard with an integrated warning and indication light system, a digital speedometer by MAE, and many more. The braided front brake hose tube, with an integrated channel, provides excellent protection for the speedometer cable. The bike also has an easy-access location for the ignition lock on the right side of the headlight mask adjacent to the speedometer.
Software & Electronics
Charger
By flipping the seat, the external charger can be instantly attached to the KTM Power Pack and plugged into any standard 230V outlet fused at 10A or 13A. A full charge takes about 110 minutes, while an 80% charge takes about 75 minutes.
