In 2019, the Ducati 916 will be on the market for a quarter of a century, permanently changing the world of superbikes and instantly becoming a modern motorbike icon. Ducati, along with its fans, has decided to commemorate this milestone in the best possible way by creating a unique Panigale V4 dedicated to the 916.
The Ducati 916 (1994) has been a favorite of both motorcycle enthusiasts and the exclusive press since its launch, thanks to its revolutionary Italian-style, dynamic, lightweight design, making it the most popular sports bike in 1994. It was the first bike to be labeled “sexy” because of its distinctive shape and personality.
The Ducati 916, as well as the later 996 and 998 models, were manufactured by 2004. More than 45,000 motorcycles left the factory.
The Ducati 916 was not just a great bike with a large following. He also won the World Superbike Championship: the Ducati 916 SBK was a force to be reckoned with from the beginning; he won 120 races, eight manufacturer titles, and six riders titles in the following years, four of them Englishman Carl. With Fogarty. Ducati 916 SBK and 996 SBK. Fogarty won 43 of the 55 races that Ducati won. Still, the English racer and the 916 Ducati are SBK’s most successful ‘pair.’
Ducati 916 has been on the market for 25 years. The goal of a bike is to change the world of motorcycle design and attract fans from all over the world. The 916 was a true pillar of Italian-made bikes, with its unique style, elegance, lightness and technological innovation.
Ducati will release the 2020 Ducati Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916 Sports Bike to commemorate this important milestone. This special edition will include only 500 motorcycles and a unique levee and racing specials, unveiling on July 12 at 8 p.m. In Pebble Beach, California (PDT).
2020 Ducati Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916 Sports Bike – Features and Specs
Livery
The Panigale V4 25 ° Anniversario 916 livery is inspired by Carl Fogarty’s Ducati 996 SBK, which won the 1999 World Superbike Championship. The bike’s graphics result from a long-standing partnership between Drudi Performance and Ducati Centro Stile. World champion “1” front and literal number holders add to the Ducati Red-based color scheme. The bottom of the tank has a black stripe that extends perfectly to the frame and side-firing vents, giving it a more dynamic aspect that reflects the 996 SBK carbon fiber air box. The lower firing and headlamp mounts are similarly black, giving the two frontal air intakes a more comprehensive, beefier appearance.
Engine
1103 cm3 Desmosedici Stradale Panigale V4 gives power to 25 ° Anniversario 916. This one-of-a-kind engine has a series of counter-rotating crankshaft and twin-plus firing and is based on the MotoGP 90 ° V4 with desmodromic timing. The engine produces 214 horsepower at 13,000 rpm and 12.6 kgm of torque at 10,000 rpm, which is a lot of fun on the road.
Desmosedici Stradale, which operates the “25 ° Anniversario 916”, has become the real object of Ducatisti’s ambition thanks to the adoption of a dry clutch and type-approved titanium acropov silencer. Panigale V4 25 ° Anniversario 916’s 90 ° V4 is equipped with STM EVO-SBK billet aluminum dry clutch.
Chassis
The Ducati Panigale V4 25 ° Anniversario 916 has it all in terms of chassis. The front frame, which uses the Desmosedici Stradale engine as the structural chassis element, is similar to the Panigale V4 R but slightly different due to the lighter, machined sides, which guarantees that the Ducati Corse hardness targets Weight loss will be followed by fatigue and constant tiredness. The frame is attached to an Ohlins NIX-30 fork, an Ohlins TTX36 rear shock, and an Ohlins steering damper, all controlled by the Ohlins Smart EC 2.0 system. It allows riders access to next-generation dynamic motorcycle controls, improves road safety and reduces lap time on the race track.
Electronics
The Ducati Traction Control EVO 2 (DTC EVO 2) method is derived from the Ducati Desmosedici GP18 and is already used on the Panigale V4 R and V4 R SBK. A new “predictive” control method significantly enhances power control out of the corner, interacting with the 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and modifying interference based on wheel spin and lean angle. ۔ It quickly prevents any grip damage and reduces peak wheel spin, providing fast, smooth interference. It works not only on the quick rear wheel spin but also on its fluctuations. It translates to increased stability outside the corner, especially in low-grip conditions, faster speeds, faster lap times, and more extended performance.
