“RDRS Safety Enhancements are Harley-Davidson technology meant to make motorcycling more intuitive,” stated Vice President of Marketing Theo Keitel. “Our main objective is to help riders of all skill levels in an unplanned situation when technical assistance may react faster and more precisely than our responses.” It’s unlikely that an RDRS Safety Enhancement would be activated, but if it does, this technology might be helpful too.”

RDRS Safety Enhancements, which were first introduced on numerous 2020 Harley-Davidson® bikes, are now standard on all 2021 Harley-Davidson CVOTM, Tri Glide® Ultra, Freewheeler®, and LiveWire® models. The road/tire interface determines available traction. On bikes, RDRS Safety Enhancements can only alter brake pressure or engine torque to keep forces at the tire from exceeding available grip. Cornering Enhanced RDRS Safety Enhancements

Some RDRS Safety Enhancements may be “cornering enhanced,” a motorcycle-specific technology that distinguishes RDRS Safety Enhancements from automobile traction and stability control systems. The inertial measurement unit, or IMU, on Harley-Davidson bikes with RDRS Safety Enhancements measures and reports the lean angle of two-wheel motorcycles or the lateral acceleration of a Trike navigating a turn. Because many motorbikes have variable-sized front and back tires, the wheels begin to rotate at somewhat different rates when the rider leans into a turn. As the motorbike leans into a turn, the tire traction patch — the tire’s section that touches the surface – changes. When the motorbike is counted, cornering improved technology takes this into account and intervenes differently for maximum performance than when the motorcycle is upright.
