2020 Kawasaki Concours 14 ABS Sports Touring Bike – Features and Price
Inspired by the Chassis and Engine Ninja
Kawasaki Advanced Co-Active-Braking Technology (KTRC) Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) (K-ACT). Grip with heat.
Features
Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC)(KP)
KTRC reassures riders by helping them ride smoothly in slow situations and is an example of the unique Kawasaki technology that promotes rider control. Front and rear-wheel speed sensors are used to measure wheel speed. When the rear wheel rotation is detected (when the speed of the rear wheel exceeds the rate of the front wheel), the engine power is reduced to restore the grip of the rear wheel. To guarantee smooth operation, the system uses 3-way control, which regulates ignition timing, fuel delivery, and airflow (via sub-throttle). KTRC assists cyclists in short and long sections of dangerous roads (such as railroad tracks or maintenance hole covers) (e.g., dirt, gravel, cobblestones, grass).
Fuel Economy Assistance Mode
The Fuel Efficiency Assistance setting is a selectable mode that converts the ECU into a lean fuel map with a high priority on fuel economy.
The Economical Riding Indicator (KP) is an indicator on the LCD screen that indicates good fuel efficiency.
Heat-Dissipating Bodywork
Large apertures in the firing were designed using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation to allow hot air to escape faster. The hot air is kept away from the firing sides by the rider’s legs. When stopped, an exhaust pipe guard on the right foot peg helps the rider shade from the heat.
Engine
1,352cc DOHC four-cylinder with variable valve timing (VVT) (KP)
The VVT improves low-end and mid-range torque, reducing emissions and accelerating at any engine rpm. Unique cam profiles enhance the VVT system. Thanks to careful planning, the engine is small and slim.
For maximum durability at high power outputs, chrome composite plated (KP) aluminum cylinder bores are lighter, stronger, and quickly remove heat from the combustion chamber and piston.
Dual engine balancers (KP) with gears
Dual secondary balancers, already in perfect primary balance, eliminate unwanted vibrations, resulting in the engine running exceptionally smooth and the rider getting comfort.
Join Ram Air (KP)
To maximize power output, the system draws cool, high-pressure air from the front of the firing and carries it through the air cleaner and into the engine.
Fuel injection using digital technology (KP)
40 mm throttle bodies are used for better riding ability and more linear low and medium-range throttle response. Throttle response is best at all engine speeds because smaller diameter bodies increase the intake speed.
Dual throttle valves (KP) are installed in the throttle bodies and are controlled via ECU to ensure accurate response and smooth DFI performance.
Aluminum Frame
Monocoque Aluminum Frame(KP)
For sport touring riders, a more sophisticated version of the Ninja® ZXTM-14R frame provides exceptional durability and responsiveness. The steering head, top plate, and swing arm bracket were tightened by up to 20% to reduce the effects of excess weight on the handling features of the machine as a result of the increase in touring luxury.
From the steering head to the swing arm pivot, the frame is a hollow aluminum box with an arch over the engine. It is thin, strong, rigid and light. The engine is rigidly attached to strengthen the torsional stiffness of the monocoque. In addition, using the engine as a pressure frame component reduces the frame’s weight by about four pounds.
Suspension
Inverted 43mm Cartridge Type Front Fork(KP)
When braking, damping rates provide a strong initial response to prevent front and drop. Easy-to-use stepless rebound damping adjustment improves suspension performance.
Uni-Trak® Rear Suspension with Bottom-links (KP)
The suspension components were carefully adjusted for Concours 14 ABS to offer long-distance comfort and dynamic handling performance. They provide excellent collision absorption when barely affected by passengers and luggage.
Preload can be adjusted quickly for different loading scenarios using the Remote Hydraulic Preload Adjuster, which is easily accessible and does not require equipment.
Ergonomics
The front brake caliper is in radio position with four pistons. The radial design incorporates attached attachment points at the top and bottom of the caliper, with mounting bolts inserted into the back of the caliper, not the side or front. As a result, the caliper becomes tighter, increasing the braking feel.
For each piston, a different brake pad is used. Individual brake pads have a more significant cooling effect and absorb more heat without any shapes, ensuring a sense of constant braking.
KIPASS (KP)
Ignition System
When the KI-PASS fob ignition switch is within six feet, it provides keyless ignition without entering the key, just press and flips the ignition switch. It is the first innovative key system in its class. To power the optional gadgets, it is located in the front-firing.
Inflation of tires
Thermostatic Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) (KP)
During the ride, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) notifies riders of tire pressure abnormalities. Sensors continuously monitor air pressure, and the results are presented on a multi-function LCD meter.
