KTM 2021 1290 Super Adventure S Adventure Motorcycle – Features and Specs
Engine & Exhaust
Cooling
Instead of a single radiator, the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S now has two separate radiators. It results in an abrupt increase in heat dissipation and overall cooling. Cleverly engineered air ducts now carry cool air to the engine, which not only keeps the motorcycle cool but also keeps the rider’s legs cool.
Cylinder heads
The 75 ° V-State of the Art Twin 4-valve DOHC cylinder heads plays an essential role in the smooth power transmission of the engine. They include twin-plug ignition, flow-optimized ports, and a low-friction valve drive system, with cameras on each cylinder’s dual overhead camshaft to drive DLC-coated cam followers.
Long service intervals
With a service interval of 15,000 km, adventure motorcyclists can travel in the jungle with complete confidence. It is due to the combination of high-quality components combined with a fully built, tested and reliable engine.
Power-to-weight-ratio
The KTM 1290 Super Adventure S tops its class in power-to-weight ratio and rides dynamics thanks to its lightweight chassis architecture and a small, powerful engine. As a result, it is the industry’s lightest and most adventurous bike in its class.
Exhaust
The new KTM 1290 Super Adventure S has a new modified exhaust system that provides bark for cutting. Exhaust flow is conveyed to the hydroformed collecting chamber with two catalytic converters through two new headers. These, along with three Lambda sensors, maintain emissions under the latest Euro5 guidelines. Meanwhile, a newly developed stainless steel silencer delivers the classic V-Twin tone at the end of the business.
Airfilter
With just four screws removed to remove the front of the fuel filler cap’s storage compartment, riders can easily access the air filter thanks to a redesigned airbox. Also, instead of horizontal ribs, the filter now has vertical ribs. It helps guide the bottom of the airbox instead of sucking dust or sand into the filter slate. Overall, an excellent design for fearless seekers.
Chassis
Fuel tank
A 23 liter, a three-part fuel tank that has been completely repaired. It consists of two large fuel cells on either side of the frame, as well as an upper, central vessel that fuels the background units. The gasoline cap has also been replaced and is now electronically regulated. But what is the best part? The new design includes a storage box from the legendary KTM 990 Adventure, complete with a USB port and large enough to accommodate your iPhone, glasses, or wallet.
Frame
On the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S, a new, redesigned, and lightweight chrome-molybdenum stainless steel trails frame with laser-cut tubes attaches to the forged parts for a powerful component. The steering head has been moved 15mm rear to shorten the overall frame for better turning behavior. In contrast, the front engine mount has been moved 2 degrees forward to support tremendous acceleration, while the front end should be firmly planted on the ground. The set is complete with a newly designed, lightweight, high-strength aluminum side stand.
Swingarm
Diecast, the open lattice swing arm was combined with a more petite frame to increase the tracking stability to 15 mm. Still, it has its lightweight grip to give rigidity and strict control when out on the road and maintains pinpoint preparation.
Suspension
It is not a polite way to say it, but the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S is equipped with the industry’s most advanced suspension system. They feature a new generation of WP Semi-active Suspension technology (SAT) with electronically controlled magnetic valves for variable damping, providing maximum comfort and protection. All suspension settings and modifications can be made via the dashboard and displayed on the TFT screen. In addition, the optional suspension PRO package provides the rider with an individual adjustment for shock or fork, as well as automatic adjustment of the rear shock preload.
Wheels & Tires
Brakes
Precise, powerful, and permanent. Exactly what you would expect from a Brembo brake set. On the front is twin 320 mm diameter radio-mounted discs, as well as 4-piston fixed calipers. The massive 267 mm diameter disc at the rear handles the extra speed. In an emergency, Bosch’s two channels, 10.3 ME ABS, come to the rescue.

Ergonomics & Comfort
Footpegs
Two-foot peg settings, stock or 10mm up and back (diagonal), allow riders to customize their comfort level according to their height and ride choice, making a big difference in what long adventure trips can do.
Seat height
The redesigned seat on the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S consists of separate seats for rider and passenger, with the former can adjust from 849 mm to 869 mm to 20 mm. The seat clip is also removed at the stroke of a button, making it easier to access the area under the seat.
Windshield
The windscreen has been adjusted in the wind tunnel to make riders comfortable for longer, faster rides. It is designed to fight high-speed wind blasts. Adjustment is effortless due to the handwheels on the right and left which change the screen’s height to 55 mm.
Handlebar
The high-strength tapered aluminum handlebars aim to give riders more control and uncompromising comfort. They are comprehensive, adjustable and ready for long hours in the saddle. Handguards that are newly created and strengthened are also intended for ideal aerodynamic performance in rapid stability.
Bodywork & Graphics
LED Headlight
The new Corning Integrated LED Head Lamp has been engineered to connect the front radar sensor on the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S, including cornering and daytime running lights that turn darkness into day. It results in a clean, KTM-specific appearance that provides excellent lighting with broad beam patterns to illuminate the road ahead.
Software & Electronics
Rider Aids
Electronic rider aids provide the rider with better control, performance, and enjoyment in various situations. Advanced ABS and MTC (Motorcycle Traction Control) technology has enhanced your riding experience. Different riding modes make it easier to change rider support features to fit different riding scenarios. Simple adjustment of these features leverages powerful V-revolutionary twin technology and equipment in a vast area.
Cruise Control
Adaptive cruise control based on groundbreaking radar on KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE S is standard. To understand the wonder of our ACC, know that the best roads can be hours away. With motorways in between, ACC will allow you to speed through the transportation system and will keep you ready to strike whenever the opportunity arises. The ACC automatically adjusts the speed and maintains a safe distance when it is ‘locked on’ a previous car. It leads to more comfortable highway blasting while rapidly covering the terrain, giving a new meaning to “intercontinental ballistic missile.”
Dashboard
A brand new scratch-resistant 7-inch TFT display is on the helm. Unmatched in terms of visual and readability, explorers can access information and quickly and easily change the semi-functional suspension of a walking motorcycle without navigating the complex menus. It is made possible by the 6-way switch cube on the handlebar. KTM MY RIDE, which links via Bluetooth for alternate navigation, audio playback, and even answering incoming calls, ensures connectivity. Are you still glowing? TFT screen tilt angle can be adjusted.
