2020 Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak Ducati Touring Bike offers the Pikes Peak edition, inspired by the classic American hill climb competition, and brings out the sporty side of the Multistrada 1260.
The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, commonly known as “The Race to the Clouds,” takes place in the Rocky Mountains about 16 kilometers west of Colorado Springs. The starting line at 2,862 meters and the finishing line at 4,300 meters are separated by 20 kilometers. It’s a grueling competition that Ducati has previously won three times.
The Pikes Peak variant built on the mechanical underpinnings of the Multistrada 1260 S has a 1262cc Euro-4 compliant Ducati Testastretta DVT engine and updated chassis proportions, including modified front end geometry and a larger swingarm. Along with a race-inspired color scheme, the Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak has new forged aluminum wheels lighter than the Multistrada 1260 S. Furthermore; the bike is outfitted with an Ohlins fork an Ohlins TTX36 shock, both of which can be adjusted mechanically.
A brand new carbon fiber Ducati Performance silencer by Termignoni (EU type-approved) and a low racing-type carbon fiber screen are also available for the Pikes Peak variant and the standard silencer and nose fairing. The brand new front mudguard hands-free cover and front side panels are also made of carbon fiber, and the red-stitched seat has been expressly created to bring out the racing character of this Multistrada.
The Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak provides an even more pleasurable riding experience thanks to the 1262 cc Euro 4 compatible Ducati Testastretta DVT engine. Eighty-five percent of the torque is accessible at 3,500 rpm, with an 18% increase at 5,500 rpm compared to the previous model. As a result, the Multistrada 1260 is the motorbike in its class with the most significant torque figures at 4,000 rpm, which is the most commonly utilized rev range.
This level of performance is also simple to manage, thanks to the new Ride by Wire system, which allows for even smoother fuel delivery, and the DQS (Ducati Quick Shift) Up & Down system, which contributes to an improved riding experience through seamless and accurate gear meshing during both upshifting and downshifting.
2020 Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak Ducati Touring Bike comes standard with a Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that dynamically measures pitch and roll angles and acceleration in three axes raising performance and safety requirements even further. The Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak is a technological marvel that includes Cornering ABS, Cornering Lights (DCL) on the full-LED headlight, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), Vehicle Hold Control (VHC), and Cruise Control as standard. The latter, with the help of the Ducati Multimedia System (DMS), allows riders to connect the bike to a smartphone and manage essential multimedia functions (incoming calls, text messaging, music).
The Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak, like the other bikes in the family, maybe outfitted with one or more Ducati Performance accessory packages. In addition to individual items, the Touring Pack (which includes heated grips, panniers, and a center stand), the Urban Pack (which consists of a top case, tank bag with a tank lock, and a USB hub to charge electronic devices) and the Enduro Pack are all available (consisting of auxiliary LED lights and Ducati Performance components by Touratech: engine crash bars, sump guard, radiator crash bars, a broader kickstand base, and off-road footpegs).
