In 40 years, the GS has traveled from Canada to Central Asia and from the North Pole to the South Pole. A motorbike that has conquered every terrain and road solid and fearless in the face of the weather. The GS was the first dual-sport motorcycle.
Single-Cylinder Engine
The proven 313cm liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with four valves, two overhead camshafts, and electronic fuel injection remains at the heart of the brand new 2021 BMW G 310 GS Edition 40 Adventure Bike. The design characteristics of the cylinder inclination to the rear and the cylinder head turned by 180-degree with intake at the front and exhaust at the back remain.
This configuration adheres to the logic of optimum combustion air ducting, resulting in a very compact vehicle design. The single-cylinder engine of the new BMW 2021 G 310 GS with an output of 25kW (34HP) at 9 500 rpm and a maximum torque of 28 Nm at 7 500 rpm is the ideal companion for aggressive motorcycling pleasure, including in the current EU 5 homologation.
The engine has been outfitted with an “electronic throttle grip” (electromotive throttle controller) in the new 2021 BMW G 310 GS Edition 40 Adventure Bike and now provides an even more sensitive throttle response.
The automatic rise in idle speed while starting also prevents the engine from stalling unexpectedly. A novel feature is the self-boosting anti-hopping clutch. It decreases engine drag torque and significantly improves driving safety, especially during braking maneuvers requiring simultaneous downshifting. It also has much lower operating forces at the clutch lever.
LED headlight & LED Flashing Turn Indicators
BMW G 310 GS already had LED brake lights; the new 2021 BMW G 310 GS Edition 40 Adventure Bike sports a full-LED headlamp for improved visibility at night and LED flashing turn indicators for enhanced visibility in traffic.
The new LED headlamp provides very brilliant and uniform lighting for the road. Distracting vibrations of the light cone are no longer present due to the adjusted connection. The three-light functions, high beam, low beam, and depending on the nation, daytime driving light are easily controlled via the left handlebar controls.
Brake and clutch hand levers are adjustable in four settings. The bike offers the clutch and handbrake levers that may now be adjusted in four steps. As a result, it now provides ergonomic benefits, especially for persons with tiny hands—stage 3 of the brake lever adjustment corresponded to grip width. The new brake lever is 6mm closer to the handlebar in the first position.

The new 2021 BMW G 310 GS Edition 40 Adventure Bike has a particularly athletic design in Rallye style in addition to the standard GS colors in white with the primary color simple polar white and tank side panels in grey.
The frame is painted red, while the tank center cover and front are painted Kyanit blue metallic emphasizing the off-road abilities and giving the motorbike an incredibly dynamic appearance.
The 2021 BMW G 310 GS Edition 40 Adventure Bike is based on a legendary historical model from the BMW GS heritage. The R 100 GS.
