The FJR1300ES is powered by a tiny 1298cc DOHC 16-valve liquid-cooled four-cylinder engine that produces fantastic torque and power across a broad rpm range. The brand new stacked tri-axis transmission shafts used in the slant-block motor design minimize engine size while enhancing chassis geometry for balanced weight distribution and outstanding handling. Six LED units illuminate consecutively above the quad-element LED headlamp assembly controlled by Yamaha’s IMU technology to beam through turns. The headlamps also provide a toolless headlight angle adjustment to accommodate vehicle weights. Last but not least, the LED tail lamp assembly blends visibility, aesthetics and quality. The FJR1300ES’ smooth supersport-inspired bodywork with integrated airflow control makes the rider comfortable, highlighted by the LED headlamp system. A central vent beneath the instrument panel minimizes negative pressure for less buffeting and the rider can direct lower body airflow through movable fairing side panels.

The FJR1300ES is an excellent touring machine because it responds to the rider. The plush thick saddle is adjustable over 0.8 inches without tools and provides plenty of riding comfort. The windscreen is automatically adjustable for a range of over 5.1 inches and the handlebars may be changed to one of three positions to fine-tune rider ergonomics. Finding the appropriate setting is as simple as pressing a button with the electrically adjustable suspension. The FJR1300ES suspension can be dialed-in to match the rider’s needs passenger and riding circumstances with four pre-load settings, three dampings preset, and a further seven damping fine-tuning adjustments.

The sophisticated front and rear brakes deliver great braking force and control coupled with balanced braking power via Yamaha’s Unified Braking System. ABS increases rider confidence even more by preventing wheel lock-ups in low-traction situations. The FJR1300ES has a hefty aluminum frame that delivers an optimal chassis rigidity and input and a long swingarm to boost traction and rear suspension movement similar to Yamaha’s supersport motorcycles. The large-capacity ergonomically-shaped 6.6-gallon fuel tank provides good comfort and range and is steel, allowing for magnetic tank bags.

The three-part instrument panel includes trip computer functions, riding modes, and more to provide riders with all the information they need while on the road. It has a flick of the bar-mounted switchgear riders can simply adjust the dot-matrix multi-function display to show the information they choose.
