2020 BMW R 1250 GS Powerful Adventure Bike – Features and Price
Engine Power
For almost 35 years, the flat-twin boxer engine in BMW Motorrad GS and RT models has stood for unique, strong, and dependable propulsion while embarking on an extended tour or a long-distance trip – or just enjoying the rewarding pleasure of a short weekend getaway.
BMW Motorrad has employed 4-valve technology in conjunction with electronic fuel injection and closed-loop catalytic converter technology for over 25 years to produce the highest possible power and torque delivery, efficiency, and environmental friendliness.
Two riding modes are standard, allowing the motorbike to be tailored to specific rider preferences. Because of the greatest possible traction, the standard Automatic Stability Control ASC gives a high degree of riding safety. Hill Start Control, a set-off aid, is also included in both models, allowing for easy set-off on hills.
Electronic Suspension
Damping automatically adjusts to the circumstances based on riding state and maneuvers with the optional equipment item BMW Motorrad Dynamic ESA “Next Generation,” There is also automated compensation in all load states.
It enables fine-tuned adaption of the motorbike to ride conditions, resulting in optimal damping comfort and a highly steady ride response — this is now available for the R1250 RT.
LED headlamp
The LED headlight is now standard on the 2020 BMW R 1250 GS Powerful Adventure Bike. In addition, the LED daytime riding light is offered as an optional accessory for both the BMW R 1250 GS and the BMW R 1250 RT, both of which have halogen headlights.
Connectivity
The 2020 BMW R 1250 GS Powerful Adventure Bike now comes standard with Connectivity, as well as a 6.5-inch full-color TFT screen. When used in combination with the standard BMW Motorrad Multi-Controller, the rider can easily access vehicle and connection features quickly and easily.
The R 1250 RT has a substantial 5.7-inch TFT color screen. An analog speedometer and rpm counter are also included.
Intelligent Emergency Call as an ex-works option.
Providing the quickest possible aid in the case of an accident or in times of emergency and danger may save lives. Intelligent Emergency Call, an optional equipment piece, calls help the site as soon as feasible. This functionality, like previously, may be ordered for both models.
BMW Motorrad Spezial — high-quality customizing options available as optional extras.
BMW Motorrad Spezial provides various distinctive modification options that improve both performance and value, all of which are offered as optional equipment ex works. The emphasis is on harmonic integration in the vehicle as a whole, the use of the highest-quality materials, intricate hand craftsmanship, and the typical attention to detail.
The Billets Packs Option 719 Classic and HP, for example, are available for the 2020 BMW R 1250 GS Powerful Adventure Bike and R 1250 RT.
Option 719 wheels Classic or Sport, a particular seat, and one of two Spezial paint treatments are available on the R 1250 RT. For the two new boxer versions, an HP sports silencer is also available ex-works.
New attractive colors and style variants
The R 1250 GS is available in two contemporary basic finishes and two distinctive style versions, showcasing its travel and off-road capabilities. The unique touring nature of the R 1250 RT is embodied in one base color, two style variations, and two Option 719 Spezial finishes.
Technology
While the previous boxer engine produced superior forward propulsion in all conditions, the boxer engine in the 2020 BMW R 1250 GS Powerful Adventure Bike and BMW R 1250 RT goes significantly further. It has a capacity of 1 254 ccs in the newest edition (previously: 1 170 cc).
The bore-to-stroke ratio is now 102.5 to 76 mm (previously: 101 to 73 mm). It produces 100 kW (136 horsepower) at 7 750 rpm and produces 143 Nm at 6,250rpm (previously: 92 kW (125 hp) at 7 750 rpm and 125 Nm at 6 500 rpm).
With a 7% capacity increase, the boxer engine produces 14% more torque and 9% more output than its predecessor, making it the most potent BMW boxer engine with built-in serial production.
The boxer engine employs the well-established air/liquid cooling system even at this late stage of development. Precision cooling refers to the flow of cooling fluid through engine components that are more strongly exposed to heat, such as the two-cylinder heads and sections of the cylinders. Two radiators located to the left and right of the front vehicle segment dissipate heat.
These improvements were made possible thanks to BMW Shift Cam Technology. It is a new technology for BMW motorbikes, and its job is to alter the valve timings and new valve stroke on the intake side.
The technique is based on a single-unit shift camshaft with two cams per valve to be activated: one partial-load cam and one full load cam, each with optimized cam geometry. The partial-load cam has been developed to optimize fuel efficiency and refinement, while the full-load cam has been created to maximize output.
As previously, the optional sports suspension for the style version HP enables the 2020 BMW R 1250 GS Powerful Adventure Bike to be optimized for more aggressive off-road usage.
The greater spring rate (“harder suspension”), longer spring struts, and therefore longer spring travel substantially improve off-road ride stability, notably visible over gravel stretches. This sports suspension is beneficial to experience off-road riders who understand when to convert suspension reserves into more outstanding performance.
Without putting the motorbike or themselves in danger. Due to the tighter suspension set-up, heavy and tall riders will enjoy the benefits of this additional capacity, particularly while riding off-road. This optional equipment item, which is only available in combination with Dynamic ESA, also contains all mechanical damping and load correction capabilities.
Wide range of seat height variants.
The R 1250 RT comes with three different rider seat options. The regular version is a two-level seat with a seat height of 805/825, and there is also a 760/780 mm and an 830/850 mm variation.
As a result, a whole spectrum encompassing a height variation of 90 mm between the lowest and maximum seat variant ex-works is provided. Seat heating is available on all three models.
Several seat height versions are available for the 2020 BMW R 1250 GS Powerful Adventure Bike, ranging from the low-slung version with low seat (800mm) to the HP style including sports suspension and Rallye seat (900 mm).
See and be seen even more effectively and influentially – LED headlight as standard on the R 1250 GS, and LED daytime riding light as an optional ex-works equipment component on both versions.
The BMW Motorrad has long been considered a leader in motorcycle safety. The new LED headlight, which is now standard on the R 1250 GS, is a brilliant example of the most acceptable meaning of the term.
Furthermore, the LED daytime riding light is an optional equipment item for the 2020 BMW R 1250 GS Powerful Adventure Bike and R 1250 RT halogen headlights.
The 2020 BMW R 1250 GS Powerful Adventure Bike’s LED headlight lights the road with previously unrivaled clarity, providing increased perception in traffic.
The light unit consists of two brand new LED units for low and high beams, as well as four extra LED branches for daytime riding light and side light when used in conjunction with the LED daytime hanging light as an optional equipment item.
