The new Adventure Sportbike is much lighter and nimbler, offering an unsurpassed mix of long-distance performance and sports skills with an entirely new engine and suspension, as well as a DIN unladen weight of 226 kg – 10 kg lighter than its predecessor when equipment is considered – the 2020 S1000XR BMW Powerful Adventure Motorcycle ushers in a new era in the Adventure Sports sector.
The new 2020 S1000XR BMW Powerful Adventure Motorcycle advances the sports to touring range in its distinct new way, leaving nothing to be desired – not least because it comes standard with the following features: Dynamic ESA, riding modes Pro, ABS Pro & DTC, Hill Start Control Pro, a perfectly readable 6.5″ TFT screen complete with connectivity, and full LED lighting.
2020 S1000XR BMW Powerful Adventure Motorcycle – Features and Price
Drive
The new 4-cylinder engine is based on the RR engine with modified gear ratios for lower consumption and noise levels. The new 2020 S1000XR BMW Powerful Adventure Motorcycle is powered by a newly developed water-cooled 4-cylinder in-line engine based on the S 1000 RR engine.
At 11 000 rpm, it produces the maximum output of 121 kW (165 horsepower). At 9 250 rpm, the maximum torque of 114 Nm is achieved. Compared to the prior model, compression might be increased from 12.0 to 12.5. However, with a very linear torque curve in the new 2020 S1000XR BMW Powerful Adventure Motorcycle, it was feasible to broaden the engine speed range further, making it more buttery and harmonic to improve rideability.
The 4th, 5th and 6th gear ratios are now longer than the previous model. It reduces the engine speed by up to 8% without affecting the rider’s dynamics. Furthermore, according to WMTC, fuel consumption has been lowered by 8% from 6.7 to 6.2 liters compared to the prior model.
In practice, the very linear torque curve and high torque level have a good impact. As a result, the new 2020 S1000XR BMW Powerful Adventure Motorcycle manages to balance leisurely touring and sporty-style rural road riding – while still being capable of rapid circuits on the racetrack.
The new engine of the 2020 S1000XR BMW Powerful Adventure Motorcycle provides a touch more power at low and mid-range engine speeds than its predecessor, which was far from weak in its own right, as well as enabling an even more supreme riding style across all sorts of terrain.
Suspension
The new development work conducted in the 2020 S1000XR BMW Powerful Adventure Motorcycle is shown not just in its entirely new drive technology. In reality, the new model’s improved riding dynamics and riding enjoyment over the prior model are mainly due to a redesigned suspension. The optimal interaction between the frame design and the engine as a load-bearing element is the crucial component here.
The engine is now more tightly incorporated into the frame as a load-bearing part in the new, significantly lighter Flex Frame. The centerpiece of the suspension of the new 2020 S1000XR BMW Powerful Adventure Motorcycle is still an aluminum bridge frame, albeit the configuration has changed dramatically from the previous generation.
The primary structure remains a welded construction constructed of four cold cast pieces. The engine was inserted at a 32-degree forward tilt but with a considerably more evident purpose as a load-bearing part.
Frame
Because of its small shape, the new frame provides additional advantages. It dramatically decreases the width of the 2020 S1000XR BMW Powerful Adventure Motorcycle in the region crucial to gaining adequate knee grip. The rider now has a significantly narrower spread of the upper thighs, allowing for a more comfortable riding position. The rider has also been relocated 20 mm forward compared to the prior model, allowing for a more dynamic and comfortable riding position. Additional benefits include improved input from the front wheel and, of course, better weight distribution.
The key aims in constructing the new 2020 S1000XR BMW Powerful Adventure Motorcycle suspension were to boost agility, feedback, and ride accuracy, as well as to improve the mechanical grip of the rear wheel. As a result, the steering head angle was changed from 64.5° to 65.1°, and the offset of the fork bridges was modified as needed. The castor was shrunk to 116 mm (previously 117 mm). Simultaneously, the wheelbase was increased to 1,552 mm.
The updated suspension geometry also gives sharper, more accurate input from both the front and rear wheel controls. Furthermore, the new 2020 S1000XR BMW Powerful Adventure Motorcycle has improved handling attributes and is more precise and directionally to ride.
The rear-wheel control was also tweaked to improve the bike’s suspension performance. The swinging arm has been modified and produced as a cold cast item made of two welded pieces. It also weighs 20% less than previously, at 6.6 kg. The swinging arm now articulates the suspension strut directly. It leads to less unsprung mass, less friction, and hence better advancement, as well as more sensitive response and enhanced comfort.
At the rear axle, the total spring travel is 150 mm (previously 140 mm). With an upside-down fork for front-wheel control, the new 2020 S1000XR BMW Powerful Adventure Motorcycle satisfies high riding dynamics standards. The total suspension travel is also a comfortable 150 mm in this case.
Electrical system and electronics
“The new 6.5-inch TFT screen provides an unrivaled degree of display and information quality in this market.” The degree of readability and operation is unmatched, and the amount of information available leaves little to be desired.”
The new 2020 S1000XR BMW Powerful Adventure Motorcycle has the same 6.5-inch TFT screen as the S 1000 RR. The instrument cluster of the new 2020 BMW S1000XR provides a variety of screen displays, and the rider may choose which one they want to utilize based on their demands. Based on the current basis of the S 1000 RR, the new instrument cluster has been further developed and fitted to the purposes of the 2020 S1000XR BMW Powerful Adventure Motorcycle.
The range of information, display quality, and, most importantly, user-friendliness of the new instrument cluster is now unrivaled, as is the case with the version for the super sports model. The new 2020 S1000XR BMW Powerful Adventure Motorcycle already has practical arrow navigation and multiple waypoint assistance on display, thanks to the BMW Motored Connectivity App.
The new TFT screen provides uniquely customizable displays for a variety of applications. For example, an all-new Pure Ride screen has all the information needed for typical road riding, while an extra Core screen displays banking position, braking, and traction control. The dynamic red engine speed range contains essential information.
When the engine is cold, the read field of the engine speed display begins at less than 6 000 rpm and gradually builds to the goal level of 11 000 rpm. The engine speed display shows a bar chart in the Core panel and a circling instrument on the Sports screen. An extra optional screen display, if needed, gives a status summary of the vehicle, integrating the most critical information such as tire pressure control RDC.
Design and Color Concept
In terms of appearance, the new 2020 S1000XR BMW Powerful Adventure Motorcycle ultimately represents its function as a versatile bike for sports, touring, and adventure. It blends the strong character traits and exceptional attributes of the BMW Motored GS, traveling, and sports divisions to produce a one-of-a-kind synthesis: Adventure Sport. As such, it is positioned as a flexible player, incorporating features of various games.
BMW GS boasts super sports DNA and the legendary touring capabilities of a BMW motorcycle. The new 2020 S1000XR BMW Powerful Adventure Motorcycle blends character characteristics and attributes from all three categories to produce a one-of-a-kind combination of emotion and function.
The new 2020 S1000XR BMW Powerful Adventure Motorcycle emphasizes its robust character with dynamic proportions while retaining the distinctive sculptural surface design. Touring and GS solutions mix with sporty components to offer the bike a significant overall look, symbolizing its wide variety of probable usage. The new 2020 BMW S1000XR has a dynamic look backed by vividly contrasting design elements. This so-called layering results in an astonishing fluidity and three-dimensionality of the fairing parts, even more so than in the prior model.
