2020 BMW F 850 GS Adventure Motorcycle – Features and Price
Drive
For dynamic riding experience, a newly built 2-cylinder in-line engine with loads of character and excellent pulling power has been developed. For almost a decade, the 2020 BMW F 850 GS Adventure Motorcycle in the F series have represented the premium range in the middle-class Adventure sector. They have always been distinguished by their persuasive all-around capabilities and as a model of riding pleasure on tarmac surfaces and easy and safe controllability on off-road terrain.
Following the introduction of the newly redesigned BMW F 750 GS and F 850 GS in fall 2017, the new F 850 GS Adventure enhances BMW Motorrad’s premium portfolio in this class. The in-line, 2-cylinder engine is still at the core of the new 2020 BMW F 850 GS Adventure Motorcycle, but it has been reengineered. The developers’ primary goal was to create a considerable improvement in power and torque over prior versions. Furthermore, when building the new engine, tremendous emphasis was placed on optimizing combustion to lower consumption rates.
The engine displacement is now 853 cm3 (up from 798 cm3 in the previous generation), with a diameter of 84mm and a stroke of 77mm. To offer its superior engine performance, the new 2020 BMW F 850 GS Adventure Motorcycle delivers 70 kW (95 horsepower) at 8 250 rpm and 92 Nm at 6 250 rpm. Higher torque, for instance, leads to increased pulling power. The maximum speed is 197 km/h.
Suspension
The suspension has been redesigned using a deep-drawn steel bridge frame for greater stiffness, robustness, and riding accuracy. Geometry has been optimized for greater accuracy.
The new 2020 BMW F 850 GS Adventure Motorcycle also has an entirely new suspension design. Even though the previous model delighted its riders with a high level of riding accuracy, riding stability, and light handling, the developers paid utmost attention to optimizing these features in their technical specifications.
The bridge structure designed for the new 2020 BMW F 850 GS Adventure Motorcycle incorporates the 2-cylinder in-line engine as a self-supporting element. It is constructed from deep-drawn sheet metal pieces welded together.
The redesigned monocoque frame offers more torsional stiffness than the prior model’s tubular steel space frame, and the new gasoline tank was repositioned as part of the new frame idea.
While the predecessor’s gasoline tank was situated behind the seat, the new 2020 BMW F 850 GS Adventure Motorcycle’s 23-liter fuel tank is now located in the traditional location between the seat and steering head.
The reasons for this were primarily to optimize wheel load variations, the overall center of gravity, and the general packing of the vehicle. Furthermore, this enabled the whole back of the motorbike to be thinner, maximizing storage space beneath the seat.
Electrical System and Electronics
See and be seen even more clearly — a complete LED headlamp with a daytime running light is offered as an ex-works option. BMW Motorrad has long been considered a leader in motorcycle safety. The LED headlight, which is now standard on the new 2020 BMW F 850 GS Adventure Motorcycle, is a brilliant example of the purest meaning of the term.
In addition, as an optional equipment item, the ironically styled LED daytime riding light is offered. The new LED headlight not only illuminates the road with a beam that is unrivaled in brightness and purity, but it also improves visibility in traffic.
Furthermore, with its unique LED optical fiber in the shape of an inverted tuning fork, it offers the middle-class premium adventure enduro an unmistakable appearance. The light unit in the basic version consists of two LED-E units for low and high beams, as well as four extra LED units for daytime riding light and side light when combined with the LED daytime riding light as an optional equipment item.
Connectivity – as an ex-works option, the multifunctional instrument cluster with 6.5-inch full-color TFT screen and several capabilities. The new 2020 BMW F 850 GS Adventure Motorcycle comes standard with a new instrument cluster design, which includes an analog tachometer and a multifunctional display, as well as many control LEDs.
Design, Ergonomics, and Color Concept
They are styled more prominently to emphasize the sense of adventure. The new 2020 BMW F 850 GS Adventure Motorcycle has been completely redesigned. It has an even more dynamic and robust appearance, indicating that this bike is all about experience and travel worldwide.
The new Adventure has a more masculine appearance and combines more pronounced offroad abilities with optimal touring capability. The unique middle-class GS Adventure’s robust offroad attributes are highlighted by a high-positioned air intake, generous spring travel, ground clearance, functionally designed surfaces, and precise panel alignment.
Equipment such as engine protection bars and a stainless-steel luggage rack add to the Adventure’s rugged visual appeal. Its look, like that of the vast GS boxer Adventure, is authentic and expresses the true and exhilarating spirit of adventure. The GS fly line is evident from all angles on the new 2020 BMW F 850 GS Adventure Motorcycle.
Iconic design elements like the asymmetric headlight and the GS’s signature fly line easily identify it as a part of the 2020 BMW Motorrad GS family. Starting from the GS’s front “beak,” the fly line runs over the fuel tank and seat to the rear, which is much narrower and more dynamic in form than the preceding model.
Ergonomics have been upgraded, as has wind and weather protection, as well as a massive fuel tank for long-distance use. The new 2020 BMW F 850 GS Adventure Motorcycle’s offroad capability is enhanced by a new design of the fuel tank/seat area that lacks any edges or corners.
It is beneficial when riding off-road in a standing position. Conified and 15 mm higher handlebars support the Adventure rider, ensuring an even more comfortable seated position. Adjustable clutch and front brake hand levers allow the rider to customize his ergonomic setup.
