2019 Ducati Diavel 1260 Naked Bike Review Specs

The new 2019 Ducati Diavel 1260 Naked Bike is powered by a 1262cc Ducati Testastretta DVT engine with variable cam timing. The XDiavel’s chain-type final transmission has been added to this one, which improves performance even more. The side view of this engine is equally sleek and attractive, with a high-quality finish, establishing it as the bike’s aesthetic centerpiece. 159 horsepower (117 kW) at 9,500 rpm and 129 Nm (13.1 kgm) at 7,500 rpm are available from the Diavel 1260’s twin-cylinder engine. A continuously operating variable timing mechanism on the intake and exhaust camshafts adapts the engine’s power delivery to the rider’s needs: extraordinarily smooth at low rpm, assertively sporty at high rpm.

2019 Ducati Diavel 1260 Naked Bike – Features

Design

The new Diavel 1260 retains the bike’s aggressive stance, sleek tail, and massive 240 mm rear tire from its predecessor, all of which have been updated for the second generation of the Diavel.

The tank’s three covers are made of sheet metal. They’ve been slimmed down in the seat contact zone to improve rider ergonomics. The tank is connected to the C-frame by two massive, brushed aluminum air intakes that a unique colored C-frame frames (again, the concept derives from the first-generation Diavel). To give the Diavel 1260 a sporty look, the taillights and a removable passenger grab rail are integrated into the short, compact tail.

The water radiator side covers of the Diavel 1260 include vertically-oriented indicators that utilize “light blade” technology, which required a significant lighting design effort as another way to differentiate the Diavel 1260. There is a “blade” incorporated in the indicators that is transparent. The new Diavel 1260 has images that create a 3D impression when the hand is activated, making it easy to identify. An upside-down horseshoe-shaped DRL (S variant) and smoke-tinted nose fairing give the Diavel 1260 an imposing front look.

Because of their distinctive clean lines, the engine and frame are critical in terms of the side-on styling of the vehicle. There are several electrical components, and an oil radiator cover integrated into an air intake for the horizontal cylinder belts in the belly fairing, exhibiting once again the seamless integration of parts. Its Thrilling Black & Dark Stealth paint contrasts the bike’s ‘full black’ look with its red frame, making the renowned Ducati Trellis frame a focal point of this bike’s visual design.

Engine

On the Diavel 1260, Ducati’s Testastretta DVT twin-cylinder engine with Desmodromic timing is used. New mappings allow a chain-type final transmission to offer more lively power. The Desmodromic Variable Timing (DVT) of this two-cylinder Ducati engine allows for very linear torque delivery even at low rpm, as well as sportbike performance at high rpm. The DVT system may independently alter the timing of the intake and exhaust valve camshafts due to the usage of valve timing adjustments on the ends of each of the two camshafts.

The diameter and stroke of the two-cylinder Ducati Diavel 1260 engine are 106 and 71.5 mm, respectively. The compression ratio is 13:1. 159 horsepower and 129 Nm of torque are available at 9,500 rpm and 7,500 rpm, respectively. Electronic injection with elliptical throttle bodies is controlled by a complete Ride-by-Wire system (56 mm diameter equivalent).

Secondary air feeds fresh air into the exhaust system, which completes unburned hydrocarbons and lowers pollutants like HC and CO without reducing engine performance in Testastretta DVT 1262.

The Diavel 1260 exhaust is a two-in-one system with a chamber-type body and two tailpipes. Because of the exhaust pipe arrangement, the engine can be seen, but the center body is almost invisible.

Long service intervals

Since Ducati’s design, innovative materials, and cutting-edge engineering are constantly invested, the company can provide an incredibly competitive maintenance schedule. It means that consumers will benefit from a longer service interval of 15,000 kilometer’s (or one year), as well as an extended valve timing adjustment period of 30,000 kilometers. Increased combustion efficiency and reduced operating temperature of the Testastretta DVT engine was achieved by employing particular valve seat materials. DVT technology, on the other hand, does not affect the valve timing change process.

Dashboard

Located below and above the handlebars, the Diavel 1260’s dashboard has a TFT screen and a warning light module. The dashboard has four different modes of display. It’s a first for Ducati, but the Default mode provides a limited amount of information presented in a well-planned manner. Other than that, the Riding Modes’ conventional Track, Full, and City modes are available.

Diavel 1260 has red illuminated keys and specialized switchgear. There are different buttons for activating and changing the speed settings. When the bike is stopped, the rider may enter a setup menu and change settings, including DTC, DWC, and ABS using the left switchgear. When the bike is parked or moving, you may also select between Sport, Touring, and Urban Riding Modes.

For the Diavel 1260 S, there’s also a Ducati Multimedia System (DMS): Bluetooth-
Smartphones may be linked to the dashboard so that riders can see and handle incoming phone calls and texts and can access information about the music being played.

Frame

The steel tubular Trellis frame of the Diavel 1260 uses the Ducati Testastretta DVT 1262 as a stressed chassis element. The two-cylinder heads, like the cast aluminum subframe, connect it to the engine. The single-sided swingarm is held by two forged aluminum plates attached to the engine. Due to its 1,600 mm wheelbase, agile chassis design, and ability to achieve lean angles as extreme as 41°, the Diavel’s mixed-road performance is precisely what you’d expect from a Ducati thoroughbred.

Diavel 1260 has a rake of 27° and an offset of 120 mm at the front end, delivering excellent handling and a giant steering lock.

Suspension

Fully adjustable 50 mm forks are standard on the Diavel 1260. The right fork tube has rebound adjustment, while the left tube contains compression and pre-load damping adjustments. When it comes to the rear, though, the Diavel 1260 boasts a mono-shock adjustable spring preload and damping rebound. Ohlins 48 mm fork and Ohlins shock absorber are fully adjustable on the Diavel 1260 S, on the other hand.

Brakes

When it comes to front-end stopping power, the Diavel 1260 has Brembo brakes with M4.32 radial monobloc caliper’s (M50 monobloc on the S version). Hydraulic calipers are regulated by an integrated aluminum reservoir and a PR18/19 radial braking pump (PR16/19 for the S variant).

In your hands, you have two 320 MB flash drives. Instead, a 265 mm disc is stopped by Brembo 2-piston calipers in the rear.

Tires and wheels

The Diavel 1260 rides on a set of 14-spoke wheels. Instead, the Diavel 1260 S has machine-finished 10-spoke wheels exclusive to it.

The front wheel is 3.5″ x 17,” and the rear is 8.0″ x 17″. The front-wheel features a 120/70 ZR17 tire, while the rear has a 240/45 ZR17. Diablo Rosso III tires are included with the bike standard’s equipment. To maximize the contact surface at any lean angle, the rear tire utilizes dual compound technology and EPT (Enhanced Patch Technology) to provide superior mileage. The tread design and carefully selected compounds give excellent performance regardless of the driving conditions.
