The bike has got the new front guard, engine cover and side panels, which are carbon fiber. It provides not only strength to the bike while reducing the overall weight. The Tuono V4 1100 Factory Motorcycle delivers the most advanced and highly efficient electronic suspension system including the latest technological frontier developed by Ohlins and Aprilia engineers.
An all-new and fantastic technology of Smart EC2.0 semi-active suspension system ensures to provides efficient and straightforward calibration of the fork and shock absorber with two operating modes on the units. There is a wide range of electronic equipment in the motorcycle including ABS and new APRC electronic controls. The beautiful Aprilia V4 engine provides a maximum power of 175 HP and a maximum torque of 121 Nm.
Electronics
The 2020 Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory Sports Bike features the standard and most advanced electronic suspension system. Its latest technological frontier is developed by Ohlins and Aprilia engineers.
The particular technology of Smart EC 2.0 semi-active suspension provides simple calibration of the fork and shock absorbers having two operating modes on the unit’s i.e. semi-active mode and manual mode. Both of them can be easily selected by using buttons on the handlebar. The user can choose between 3 mapping i.e. Track, Road and Sport.
In the new semi-active mode, suspension performance is managed by the new Smart EC 2.0 system that actively intervenes on operation thanks to the latest algorithm that processes the data transmitted from the bike to the dedicated ECU in real-time.
In this mode, this Aprilia motorcycle suspension system adjusts its new hydraulic calibration second by second, to the kind of route and the riding style being used. In the manual mode, three maps offer as many predefined calibration types without semi-active assistance, in the same way as mechanical suspension system work.
The new Ohlins steering damper is now electronically managed by the Smart EC 2.0 system and it can be fully customized to best adjust calibration depending on the fork and shock absorber. An all-new OBTi (Objective Based Tuning Interface), visible on the 4.3 inches of color TFT dashboard of 2020 Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory Sports Bike.
The operating logic of the OBTi is based on the situation of use and the level of the sensation of the rider. The system enables the rider to customize suspension settings according to the situation. It is extremely easy and quick to adjust as well as extremely competent in all conditions. The innovation introduced by an electronically managed suspension system which is extremely important on bikes like Tuono V4 1100 Factory.
The Aprilia Tuono V4 onboard electronics as the same as they were in the previous model i.e. 2019 Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory. It includes;
- ATC – Aprilia Traction Control
- AWC – Aprilia Wheelie Control
- ALC – Aprilia Launch Control
- AQS – Aprilia Quick Shift
- APL – Aprilia Pit Limiter
- ACC – Aprilia Cruise Control
The Aprilia Sports Motorcycle comes with an advanced multi-map Cornering ABS, which is developed with the help of Bosch to ensure ultimate safety on the road. The new 9.1 MP system can easily optimize braking and ABS intervention through the corners and the new specific algorithm consistently monitors different parameters.
The ABS works in collaboration with the Aprilia RLM (Rear Liftup Mitigation) system that reduces the rear wheel lift during sudden braking. The Cornering ABS, fine-tuned following Aprilia’s specific indication. There are three levels of engine maps i.e. Sport, Track and Race that changes the engine power delivery accordingly.
The new TFT digital instrument cluster enhances display options and it is capable of managing the user interface for better electronic adjustment on the bike’s suspension system. There are two selectable screen pages i.e. Road and Race and both of them have night and day backlighting.
The new Aprilia MIA is available in Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory as an option. It allows the rider to connect the smartphone on the bike, for the correct corner by corner calibration of the electronic settings.
Performance
The 2020 Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory Sports Motorcycle is the only naked motorcycle that features a 65-degree V4 engine having unique characteristics. The Narrow V architecture made the engine extremely compact helping in centralizing the weight and achieve compact chassis. The changes have been made in the evolution of Italian V4 that increases overall reliability and performance.
The engine contains the new exhaust system with the original silencer featuring a second oxygen sensor and a built-in valve. The new engine ECU has a high calculating capacity and it is capable of managing maximum rotation speed. To ensure maximum reliability and decreasing friction at the same time, the piston pins contain DLC surface treatment.
The combustion chambers do not have a fusion process and now they are controlled by the mechanical process. At the same time, the gearbox includes a linear sensor that ensures superb gear shifting operation.
Suspension and Brakes
The 2020 Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory Sports Bike ensures the highest level of handling and stability experience like in Aprilia RSV4. RSV4 inspires its front Brembo braking system and it relies on the pair of steel discs with a diameter of 330 mm. It is gripped by Monobloc M50 calipers and activated by the radial master cylinder. The Aprilia Bike features the new Ohlins Smart EC 2.0 semi-active suspension system that incorporates the steering damper, NIX fork and an electronically adjusted TTX shock absorber.
