The Ducati’s Monster 1200R is one of the most influential and highly sophisticated models in the entire family of Monster series. This engine of 1200 R can deliver 10% more power and 5.5% more torque than 2018 Ducati Monster 1200S. Design

The Ducati Design Center worked on the Monster 1200R to make the sleek and compact bike with the real sporting character. The anodized aluminum attachment clip makes the presentation even more attractive and charming. The short, sleek, and compact tail, which is supported by the steel Trellis subframe, not only looks impressive, but it adds in the overall styling of the bike. The sub-frame is supported by the passenger foot-pegs, which is now separated from the rider’s pegs.

Engine

The Ducati 1200R features the liquid-cooled 1198 cm3 twin and 4-cylinder-per-cylinder Testastretta 11-degree DS. When the rear wheel puts back-torque, the same mechanism minimizes the pressure on the clutch discs, activating the slipper function and so preventing back end de-stabilization during aggressive downshifting.

The exhaust ducts use the cross-section of 50-52 mm, which are the part of the 2-1-2 system, and they are uniquely designed with an identical length for both cylinders to maximize power and delivery efficiency. This system contains the lambda probe for each of its bottles to make fueling both autonomous and optimal. This engine has long maintenance intervals, and the valve timing adjustment is now needed just once every 30,000 km.

Frame

The engine of Ducati 1200R acts as a load-bearing element, and an attractive Trellis frame is being attached to the cylinder heads. The racing-derived concept first applied to the factory bike with the Panigale project. This specific configuration gives the highly compact and light frame, while the large cross-section tubing provides the high torsional rigidity, which perfectly brings a dynamic performance. The Monster 1200R also boasts the new beefier swingarm and compact 1,485 mm wheelbase.

The rear seat-carrying sub-frame is attached directly to the engine, which has been redesigned to provide the compact structure supporting the new passenger footpeg struts. These pegs are now separated from the rider’s peg to ensure greater freedom of movement in sporty-style riding. The footpegs are made up of die-cast aluminum, and they are attached with aluminum pegs.

Suspension

The Ducati Monster 1200R contains the fully adjustable 43 mm Kayaba forks with an upfront flexible 43 mm Kayaba forks. At the same time, the Sachs shock absorber at the rear section has spring pre-load and rebound damping adjustment. The Monster 1200R contains the Sachs shock absorber offering the best performance of all times.

Tires and Wheels

The Ducati 2018 Monster 1200R is equipped with the light 10-spoke Panigale style alloy wheels with 3.5″ x 17″ at its front and 6″ x 17″ at the rear section. However, the latest Pirelli Diablo Rosso 3 dual-compound tires with 120/70 at the front and 190/55 at the rear, giving the best mileage during the constant grip even in corners. The quality tires having Pirelli Enhanced Patch Technology (EPT) have been used that maximizes the contact patch area while the lean angle and Functional Groove Design (FGD) to optimize performance in the wet conditions.

Braking System
