Triumph has upgraded the flagship Scrambler 1200 for 2024, and the more approachable Scrambler 1200 X will accompany the revised Scrambler 1200 XE.
While the new X (which replaces the previous Triumph Scrambler 1200 XC) is being marketed as a bike made for: “the road and beyond, built to be more accessible,” Triumph is selling the revised XE as being built for “the road for adventure touring, for extreme off-road fun.”
Although there are some design changes for 2024, aside from new colors and graphics, it will take some effort to identify them because both models still resemble the ones they are replacing aesthetically.
The two bikes still have distinctive throwback appearance, cross-laced wheels, 21-inch and 17-inch wheel diameters, and delicious high-level exhausts. The identical 15-liter fuel tanks as the previous models are also included with both motorcycles. However, whether enhanced engine economy would result in a marginal increase in maximum range is still being determined.
2024 Triumph Scrambler 1200 Range Revealed – Details
2024 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE
For the 1200 XE Scrambler, While the engine specifications of the new bike appear to be the same as those of the previous Scrambler, Triumph has made considerable improvements to the chassis and suspension to increase the machine’s performance and potential.
First up, new suspension components. The previous model replaced the Showa front/Ohlins rear configuration with Marzocchi 45mm forks and rear shocks. There is still total adjustment at both ends, and the available travel of 250mm is the same.
The bike’s brakes will receive the next refurbishment, with Triumph fitting the front with newer, higher-spec Brembo Stylema monoblock calipers that operate on floating 320mm discs. A Nissin two-piston caliper at the back that is connected with a 255mm disc matches them.
When we compare the XE’s chassis to the X’s, we see that the higher-spec bike has a slightly longer double-sided aluminum swing arm. To aid with the XE’s balance and control when riding on trails, it is a full 32mm longer. Its 250mm of travel offers a lofty seat height of 870mm compared to the 820mm item found on the new X. It is also taller than the X, having a higher seat and better ground clearance.
New 2024 Triumph Scrambler 1200 X
Triumph appears to have paid attention to its owners, dealerships, and the media while designing the new Scrambler 1200 X. Some riders may find it thrilling to own a bike that is almost identical to the top-spec XE, but for many others who may not ride the trails very often, a less concentrated and perhaps more approachable bike was what they were looking for.
Triumph has succeeded in that regard as the renamed ‘X’ takes the place of the former ‘XC’ as the entry-level Scrambler 1200 model. The new bike has Marzocchi suspension on both ends once more, with dual piggyback shocks that can be adjusted for pre-load connecting non-adjustable forks. Although it still features a robust 170mm of travel, this bike’s suspension travel has decreased overall from the previous model, solidifying its status as a more road-biased and more manageable variant of the bike.
The Nissin Scrambler 1200 X’s two-piston calipers grip 310mm discs as part of its braking system. Like its larger sister, the new X has a complete IMU control system, unlike the departing XC. It implies that optimized cornering ABS and traction control are now available for both on- and off-road use on the lower-spec machine for the first time. Since both of these systems are switchable, you may turn them entirely off and slide and ski till you’re satisfied if you want to go rough!
2024 Triumph Scrambler 1200 engine updates
The motorcycles’ intake and exhaust have also been tuned for 2024; However, the total power and torque numbers (89 bhp and 81.1 lb-ft) are identical; the updated system should provide more mid-range torque. The modifications include a redesigned header run that flows more freely and a new 50mm input manifold. According to Triumph, the updated engine produces greater torque from 5,000 rpm. Although the maximum power and torque figures remain the same, the new engine generates these figures at a lower rev limit of 250 rpm, making riding both vehicles off-road easier.
The updated electronics for both models manage the output of the new engine. For the Scrambler 1200 X, five rider modes come with customized ABS, traction control settings, and specialized throttle mapping. Sports, Road, Rain, Off-Road, and a user Configurable mode that lets the user customize the bike’s electronics are among the options available to riders. In addition to the riding above methods, the XE also has an Off-Road Pro mode designed for more experienced riders on more challenging routes, which lowers electronic intervention to the lowest possible degree.
