Engine Features
The 84.7cc, two-stroke, liquid-cooled, reed-valve, single-cylinder engine has a 48.0 mm bore and 46.8 mm stroke. It is a high-revving engine. Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM) is used in an all-new cylinder to provide excellent class performance because of its low weight, durability, and efficient heat transmission.
Aluminum is used to match better the cylinder’s expansion rate in the exhaust valves, increasing sealing and enhancing engine efficiency. The governor and actuator of the exhaust valve facilitate good throttle response and general tractability.
The Keihin PE28 carburetor is precise, has a smooth throttle response, and is easy to tune and maintain. At high RPMs, digital CDI mapping contributes to powerful engine performance. At all engine speeds, the new large-capacity radiator effectively cools the engine.
Transmission Features
The new 2023 RM85 Suzuki Dual Sports Motorcycle has a precise rack-and-pinion operated clutch and a smooth-moving six-speed gearbox like in 2022 Suzuki RM85. Thanks to the lengthy clutch lever, the engagement point is simple to find and use during starts and while accelerating out of bounds.
This long-lasting gearbox is characterized by a refined shift mechanism with a robust detent spring and needle bearing on the left side of an all-new shift drum like in 2022 Suzuki RM85. A knurled shift pedal tip provides excellent grip and shift feel for accurate gear selection.
Chassis Features
Performance on the track is class-leading thanks to a tubular steel frame with an all-new aluminum beam swingarm, particularly in the bends. The frame has a wide front reinforcing plate and oversized diameter tubing in strategic locations for strength, longevity, and straight-line performance.
You may fully adjust the Showa 37mm inverted-type front fork to suit your riding style, weight, and skill level. The fork has a cartridge system with 20-way adjustable compression damping and completely adjustable rebound damping (guards to protect the inner fork tubes are also supplied). The travel of the fork legs is 275 mm (10.8 inches).
Thanks to its valve design, the big-diameter rear shock absorber from Showa is resistant to bottoming and has a velvety feel. The shock has an adjustable compression and rebound damping force, allowing for 277 mm (10.9 inches) of wheel travel.
Excellent stopping performance is ensured by a rear brake with a 200mm (7.9-inch) disc and a front brake with a twin-piston caliper front brake with a 220mm (8.7-inch) large-diameter disc. The lightweight, narrow-diameter front and rear brake lines enhance the rider’s sensation and input.
No brake hose cover is needed since the brand-new front hose runs beneath the fork leg. A stiff rear brake caliper offers reliable braking performance, a long pad life, and ease of maintenance. The plastic protection on the caliper lessens damage risk and saves weight. The rear brake pedal of forged aluminum alloy is robust and lightweight, giving the rider a precise braking sensation.
Rather than stamped steel, high-quality footpegs are manufactured of cast chrome-molybdenum steel, giving them more durability and grip—Champion Yellow bodywork with black guards and fork protectors for a polished racing appearance.
The new color seat features a rough side surface to improve knee grip. The wheel sizes of the RM85 (Front: 70/100-17; Rear: 90/100-14) comply with AMA 85cc class standards.
