2023 Kawasaki KX450SR Dirt Bike – Features and Specs

Engine

The Monster Energy Kawasaki racing team provided direct input for the 449cc lightweight engine package. Like the KX450, the KX450SR engine is powered by a small Lithium-ion battery and has an electronic start that may be engaged with a button press.

Kawasaki’s elite road racing technology and World Superbike engineers have made a lightweight finger-follower valve actuation mechanism for larger-diameter valves and more aggressive cam profiles. The polished intake ports of the 2023 Kawasaki KX450SR Dirt Bike provide smoother airflow, which boosts engine performance better than 2022 Kawasaki KX450SR.

A high-capacity coned disc-spring hydraulic clutch and a close-ratio five-speed gearbox help maintain control and a steady feel even under demanding conditions.

Similar to the factory racing team of Kawasaki Energy Monser Energy, a lightweight Pro Circuit Ti-6 Pro titanium race exhaust has been installed, which helps to improve engine performance.

For a wider variety of motocross riders, the KX450SR’s unique engine E.C.U. Fuel injection settings provide controllability and factory-spec high-performance riding that aligns with the more powerful engine characteristics.

Chassis

Riding at high speeds, a compact aluminum perimeter frame offers exceptional front-end feel and agility for accurate turns. The lightweight structure of the frame is made up of cast, forged, and extruded pieces.

The engine serves as a stressed member and increases the frame’s rigidity balance. To prioritize the center of gravity and balanced handling, engineers carefully considered the dimensions of the swingarm pivot, output sprocket, and rear axle placements.

Suspension

New SHOWA front and rear suspension parts for the KX450SR include titanium oxide (TiO) on the inner fork tubes, lowering friction and increasing wear resistance. The exact size as the factory racing team of Kawasaki, the big-diameter inner fork tubes enable the employment of huge 39mm compression damping pistons and a 25mm cartridge cylinder, resulting in firm damping and smooth movement.

SHOWA’s Dimplush texture, which features a wave-like finish to maintain an oil layer for smoother performance, is featured on the inner surface of the outer fork tubes. To provide a low-friction surface that helps avoid wear and prolong the life of the sliding surfaces, the Dimplush texture also has a Kashima coating.

The KX450SR’s suspension settings have been refined to provide improved performance, a more comfortable ride, and a smoother suspension movement. Dual compression adjustment on the SHOWA rear shock allows for independent tuning of the damping at high and low speeds.

Using feedback from Kawasaki’s factory racing teams, the front axle’s 22mm diameter improves front-end traction. The linkage ratios of the New Uni-Trak rear suspension have been chosen especially to complement the chassis.

A set of XTrig ROCS (revolutionary opposing clamp system) tech triple clamps, which enhance fork flex motion for better fork operation, support the SHOWA front forks. The top triple clamp is supported by elastomers that are intended to absorb vibration from the engine and chassis, and it is equipped with XTrig’s PHDS (progressive handlebar dampening system) handlebar mounts, which are lightweight and enhance the fork’s responsiveness.

Additionally, by reducing the pressures operating on the handlebars in horizontal and vertical directions, this technology helps the rider steer more accurately. This technology allows the handlebar to be changed in 12 distinct ways, giving the rider complete personalization.

Brakes & Wheels

A set of D.I.D. DirtStar wheels adorn the 2023 Kawasaki KX450SR, enhancing its strength and endurance in the most challenging racing conditions. The rims’ black finish simulates the appearance of a factory racing car—the championship-tested setup with a black Renthal Ultralight aluminum rear sprocket and a D.I.D. 520ERT3 gold chain complements the KX450SR’s eye-catching look.

An enormous 270 mm petal-shaped front brake rotor from the well-known firm Braking is in charge of stopping. A 250 mm petal-shaped brake rotor in the back matches the size of the front disc.

Ergonomics

Kawasaki is unwavering in its dedication to providing riders with industry-leading ERGO-FIT customizable components that suit a range of riders and riding styles. With a lower position that lowers the usual setting by an extra 5 mm, the footpegs’ dual-position mounting points lessen the knee angle for taller riders while they are sitting.

Styling

Apart from the sporty and stylish design of the KX450, the 2023 Kawasaki KX450SR Dirt Bike has unique colors and graphics inspired by the Monster Energy Kawasaki racing team. A Hinson Billetproof clutch cover with the Kawasaki Racing Team logo that enhances heat dissipation and a Pro Circuit Ti-6 Pro titanium exhaust with a unique green decal complete the bike’s authentic racing machine appearance.
