2023 Indian Chief Bobber Dark Horse Touring Bike – Features and Specs
Blacked-out bobber style with loads of muscle to match.
They will hear and see the rider approaching and be curious about the rider’s next destination.
The Story of a Legend
The first production of Indian Motorcycle Chiefs was released that year, 1921. The famed dirt track racer and inventor Charles Franklin, who also conceived of the Scout, designed the Chief. It had a 61-cubic-inch V-twin engine with dual cams, a low seat, and sleek styling. The bike immediately earned a global following because of its dependable power, strong torque, and elegant frame. The Chief was a significant factor in the growth of American motorcycle racing and customization scenes in the 1940s.
A Century and a half later
In 2021, to celebrate its centennial, America’s first motorcycle manufacturer will release a new version of one of the country’s most recognizable motorcycles. The new Chief is the pinnacle of modernity, combining classic style with cutting-edge features and unmatched power. It has kept its traditional small size, bare steel chassis, and short 64-inch wheelbase. Only those hoping to leave it in their rearview will be disappointed by the Chief’s classic styling, respect for Indian Motorcycle’s storied history, and discreet use of current technologies.

Thunderstroke 116
For overtaking in any of its six speeds, the air-cooled Thunderstroke 116’s sheer torque of 162 Nm is hard to beat. It’ll get people’s attention on the sidewalk and pull rider hearts out of rider saddle.
Blacked-Out Bobber Design
Completely blacked out, from bumper to bobbed bumper, and brimming with swagger. Traditional bobber features include a welded steel tube frame, a considerable headlight bucket with nacelle, and covered forks and rear shocks.
4″ Ride Command Touchscreen
The 4-inch touchscreen looks traditional since it’s designed to seem like an analog gauge. In addition to serving as a speedometer and tach, it allows riders to adjust riding modes, accept or reject incoming calls, and control the music playing from any Bluetooth-enabled device.
Style for Miles
The Chief draws attention everywhere he goes because of the iconic design of Indian Motorcycles.
Black and More Black
All exterior surfaces, including the fenders, are a high-quality gloss black.
On the Road
The front pegs and small ape bars put the rider feet forward and the rider’s fists in the wind, while the low single seat gives the rider a sense of power and control.
Iconic Style
Informed by the past, built for the present. The original Chief is honored with the use of a headdress as the emblem for Indian Motorcycles.
Modern technology is hidden in plain sight.
Extra of the good stuff, less of the bad.
Features for the Win
Keyless ignition, a USB charging outlet, cruise control, anti-lock brakes, an electronic stability system, and Pirelli Night Dragon tires are standard equipment for every Chief Bobber Dark Horse.
Light Rider Way
The road ahead is well-lit thanks to the use of only LED bulbs.
Choose Rider Ride
Riders may personalize rider experience by selecting one of three ride modes: Tour, Standard, or Sport.
