New Double-Profile-Design Wings

More compact and thinner double-profile design wings with enhanced efficiency have been included in the fairing of the Panigale V4 ’22, ensuring the same maximum vertical load of up to 81.5 lb at 186 mph.

Cooling System

The engine’s performance, especially on the track, has been enhanced by redesigning the extraction sockets in the fairing’s bottom section.

Engine

The updated Desmosedici Stradale MotoGP-derived 1,103-cc engine is the bike’s beating heart. For 2023, the Desmosedici Stradale undergoes yet another modification, adding specialized technological parts that improve its performance on the track and the speed of its throttle response.

At 12,500 rpm, the Desmosedici Stradale produces 210 horsepower. The engine produces 90.6 lb-ft of torque at 11,000 rpm, with 80% of the torque accessible at 6,000 rpm.

SBK Gear

The new gearbox increases the ratio in the first, second, and sixth gears. Therefore, the new SBK gear ratio is more “racing-oriented” and well-suited for usage on the track.

New Power Modes Strategy

The 2023 Ducati Panigale V4 Sports Motorcycle has updated Power Modes logic for four distinct engine settings: full, high, medium, and low. A new approach is used for the High and Medium settings, while the Full and Low configurations are freshly conceived.

Counter-rotating crankshaft

The crankshaft of a road bike spins in the same direction as the wheels. In contrast, a counter-rotating crankshaft with the opposite rotational polarity is often utilized in MotoGP. Desmosedici Stradale bikes use this innovative solution to reduce the gyroscopic influence of the wheels, allowing for quicker and more accurate directional changes. The inertial torque produced by the counter-rotating crankshaft tends to bring the front end down during acceleration and the rear end up under braking, mitigating the wheelie effect.

“Twin Pulse” firing order

The V-engine arrangement and specific shaft geometry provide a unique “Twin Pulse” ignition pattern. The two cylinders on the left and right of the engine fire in unison, which sets them apart. So, the ignition timing chart has the zero, ninety, two hundred and eighty degrees, and three hundred and eighty degrees positions. With this ignition sequence, the V4 mimics the sound of the MotoGP Desmosedici.

Chassis

Even the 2023 chassis redefinition of the 2023 Ducati Panigale V4 Sports Motorcycle and 2023 Ducati Panigale V4 S introduces several significant improvements. Aiming to improve on-track performance, certain technological decisions were informed by lessons learned in MotoGP and SBK. The end goal is clear: quicker timings, less effort, and higher consistency.

The renowned aluminum Front Frame is integrally joined to the chassis and relies on the Desmosedici Stradale for support. The lightweight magnesium front frame and the shell-cast aluminum seat post, attached at the top to the Front Frame and at the bottom through screws to the head of the rear bank, round out the chassis.

Öhlins pressurized fork

A hlins NPX 25/30 pressurized fork is used on the Panigale V4 S, and it is compatible with the hlins Smart EC 2.0 event-based electronic control system. The latter is the cutting-edge road sports bike right now. It employs a pressurized system, with a 25 mm piston controlling compression in the left leg and a 30 mm piston controlling extension in the right leg, to provide a stroke 5 mm longer than standard forks (125 mm).

This SBK-derived design reduces oil cavitation during intensive usage. In what way? Superior aid when using the brakes and excellent damping of road irregularities. What this means for riders is an enhanced sense of speed and comfort at the limit.

The redesigned fork’s enhanced 5 mm of travel allows for softer settings, allowing for a smoother ride and a more fantastic grip in challenging situations. Additionally, this fresh fork can provide a greater quantity of stroke, enhancing the sensation even during the most taxing braking segments.

The second-generation Smart EC 2.0. The system with OBTI (Objective Based Tuning Interface) circuitry comprises the new fork, the retained hlins TTX36 shock absorber, and the Ohlins electronic steering damper. The rider is afforded considerably more straightforward control with this approach since it operates “for objectives” and costs no extra for each click.

New chassis set-up for vigorous cornering

The pivot point of the swing arm of the new Panigale V4 is raised by 4 mm compared to the 2021 model. With this unique technological decision, the anti-squat effect is amplified, stabilizing the bike during acceleration and assisting the rider through all those throttle-open moments, such as directional changes and acceleration out of corners. Even though the pivot is now fixed, unchangeable, the rider has more leeway to adjust the suspension.

Cast aluminum wheels with a five-spoke design, a Sachs steering damper, and a fully adjustable Sachs monoshock all contribute to the exceptional handling of the basic Panigale V4.

Tires and Wheels

The Panigale V4 S rides on Pirelli DIABLO TM Supercorsa SP tires sized 120/70 ZR17 up front and 200/60 ZR17 at the back.

Brembo Stylema

The new Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers with four 30 mm diameter pistons each function on 330 mm diameter discs on the front of the Panigale V4 ’22, providing excellent braking power. A 245 mm disc is clamped by a two-piston caliper at the back.

Ergonomics

The ergonomics of the Ducati Panigale V4 have undergone extensive research with the goals of enhancing the rider’s command of the bike during track sessions and maximizing the bike’s performance throughout a single lap and prolonged track usage.

Tank

To help riders of all sizes feel more secure under braking and enjoy longer, quicker rides, the fuel tank has been redesigned to increase capacity by 1 liter and provide an entirely new fit area compared to the 2021 model. The rider feels more at once with the bike and in the ideal aerodynamic position, thanks to the revised tank design. In addition, the hanging-off phase increases the arm contact area.

Saddle

The new and updated saddle’s covering and flatter design provide more comfortable riding and less forward movement while braking.

Electronics

Using a 6-axis inertial platform, the 2023 Ducati Panigale V4 Sports Motorcycle’s cutting-edge electronics package can instantaneously determine the bike’s roll, yaw, and pitch angles.

The riding phases are controlled by the electronic package, with their operational settings linked by default to the four riding modes (Race A, Race B, Sport, and Street).
