BMW’s all-terrain 2023 BMW G 310 GS Adventure Motorcycle received a redesigned soft body and several drivetrain changes better than 2022 BMW G 310 GS Adventure. Beemer updated their smallest GS with additional comfort and security features.

Performance and Capability
The 2023 BMW G 310 GS Adventure Motorcycle retains the rearward-canted, single-cylinder, forward-exhaust/rear-intake engine design of its predecessor. It has an over-square design with a diameter and stroke of 80 mm and 62.1 mm, respectively, for a total displacement of 313 ccs at a compression ratio of 10.9:1. This should be OK with regular gas.

The Electromotive Throttle Control and automatic idle-speed increase were introduced in the previous year to provide ride-by-wire capabilities and low-rpm safety. It ensures that there are no missteps after emerging from the hole.
The exhaust heat is cooled by water, and twin overhead cams and electronic fuel injection govern a four-valve head. Beyond that, it’s a bare-bones computer that weighs in at a svelte 386 pounds thanks to the absence of any unnecessary extras.
With a chain-style final drive, power is slipped through a clutch to reduce back-torque. It can propel a 2023 BMW G 310 GS Adventure Motorcycle as fast as 88 miles per hour.
Diminutive yet powerful, the 2023 BMW G 310 GS Adventure Motorcycle engine generates 34 horsepower at 9,250 rpm and a peak of 20 lb-ft torque at 7,500 rpm. It prefers to work in the upper rpm range, as would be expected of any thumper.
Design
The new 2023 BMW G 310 GS Adventure Motorcycle only saw modest cosmetic revisions. The improvements begin with a new, higher-profile front wing, distinguished by taller, foil-shaped uprights. It increases the space between the tire and wing and protects the upper stanchion of the inverted fork.
The assembly line gave the rest of the bodywork a facelift for a new look and did some neat things with the multi-toned paint jobs. The remainder of the bike retains the same sporting orientation and youthful vibrancy as its forerunner.
All-new for this generation, LED headlights, daytime running lights, and blinkers are standard equipment for the day and nighttime visibility. In this day and age of multitasking drivers, it’s a need.
An LCD panel, protected only by a thin transparent fly screen, displays all the instruments and is located behind the Cyclops headlamp housing. It has a USB connection for charging mobile devices.
The risers supporting the handlebar are extremely short, allowing for almost no pushback. It positions your hands perpendicular to the steering head, maximizing leverage and input.
The adjustable seat is in front of the distinctive hump in the fly line caused by the three-gallon fuel tank. The standard height is 32.8 inches, but you may adjust it to 32.3 inches, and the nosebleed section is 33.4 inches high.
That’s not all you can do to customize your riding experience. The clutch and brake levers are adjustable in length (by 6 mm) to suit drivers with varying hand sizes. To complete the daring profile, a deep swale accommodates the pilot’s seat between the fuel tank and the pillion seat.
J.C. is kind. LED taillights and a tiny luggage rack flank the P-pad to round off the equipment. The only means of stowing gear on a stock GS is the venerable p-pad and bungee net arrangement in the boot. Well, that and a rucksack would do the trick.
Chassis
The tiniest Gelände-Straße, or “terrain and street,” by Beemer, is constructed on a tubular “space frame” resembling a Trellis. The 2023 BMW G 310 GS Motorcycle has a 55.9-inch wheelbase and a rake angle of 26.7 inches thanks to its steering head. The G 310 GS’s 19-inch front wheel has a relatively short trail of 3.9 inches.
Cast-aluminum wheels complete the rolling chassis, one measuring 17 inches in diameter with a 110/80 hoop at the rear and another measuring 19 inches in diameter with a 150/70 hoop up front. The combination makes it more effective on unpaved surfaces.
The front suspension consists of inverted forks floating on fixed variables, and the rear suspension consists of a shock with a single spring-preload adjuster. It’s not particularly complex, yet it does its goal without issue.
The cast aluminum yoke-style swingarm keeps the rear end light and relieves strain on the rear shock. The 7.1 inches of suspension travel at each end is not surprising for a vehicle designed for use on rough terrain and should be adequate for light off-roading as long as you don’t try to jump it.
A four-piston caliper clamps down on a 300 mm disc up front, while a single-pot anchor and 240 mm disc sit in the back. Under the watchful eye of Beemer’s patented ABS, you can make the most of your braking power.
2023 BMW G 310 GS Adventure Motorcycle – Price and Availability
The new 2023 BMW G 310 GS Adventure Motorcycle is now the company’s second-cheapest offering (after the G 310 R), thanks to a price cut for the 2023 model year. For $5,695, you may own a 2023 BMW G 310 GS. You may get this year’s model in Cosmic Black, Style Sport Polar White/Racing Blue Metallic, or Style Rallye Kalamata Dark Gold Metallic.
BMW G 310 GS vs Kawasaki Versys -X 300
The Versys-X 300 makes a fantastic first impression as an adventurous and daring vessel. The Kawi’s front fairing swaps out the Beemer’s signature duck bill for a snub nose, lending the bike a more urban aesthetic.
Much of the Versys’s foundations are concealed by its bulky exterior. The final effect is slightly less industrial and more polished.
The Kawasaki has standard anti-lock brakes, a slipper clutch, and an adjustable rider’s triangle, just like the BMW. To gain a technological edge, it also has a Dual Throttle Valve, which is superior to BMW’s Idle Speed mechanism.
The 296 ccs parallel twin in the Versys produces only 19.2 lb-ft of torque, just a hair less than the competition. Yet, the change is so negligible that it won’t even register on the heinie-dyno.
Kawi’s Versys-X 300, which competes with the 2023 BMW G 310 GS Adventure Motorcycle in pricing, is only available in one color combination at a starting MSRP of $5,899. The decision will not be based on cost.
