Engine
2022 YZ250X Yamaha Dirt Motorcycle is based on the legendary YZ250 249cc liquid-cooled reed-valve-inducted two-stroke engine. It features a revised compression ratio, exhaust port timing, Yamaha Power Valve System (YPVSTM) timing, and a model-specific CDI unit; all focused on creating a comprehensive, controllable power character ideal for cross country racing. The Yamaha Power Valve System, which has a broader opening timing than the YZ250 for smoother power, combines bottom-end acceleration with powerful mid-range and top-end characteristics.
2022 YZ250X Yamaha Dirt Motorcycle has a unique dense exhaust expansion chamber that improves horizontal and vertical clearance on narrow, tricky trails while maintaining exceptional exhaust efficiency. Throughout the power band, the 38mm Hitachi Asthma® Keihin PWK carburetor with a throttle position sensor provides precise fuel/air mixing and crisp throttle response. Carbon fiber reed-valve petals with a unique design improve throttle response and engine performance across the entire rpm range.
From tight woods to wide-open fire roads, a smooth-shifting wide-ratio transmission ensures proper gearing. For maximum cooling efficiency, this large-capacity radiator has a ten-row core with four louvers. The digital CDI ignition system is specifically tuned for the YZ250X and delivers precise spark for faster, more strong response anywhere in the powerband.

YZ250X has super-precise handling, and a smooth ride along with the industry-leading KYB® spring-type fork with speed-sensitive damping employs piston speed to control the damping force. The motorcycle is tuned for cross country racing demands, with low wasted stroke and sudden shocks for the rider. The bike was designed for greater comfort, control, and fantastic rear-wheel traction in challenging situations. The fully adjustable KYB® rear shock characteristics 12.4 inches of travel, separate adjusters for high- and low-speed compression damping, and a broad lock oil rebound system.
2022 YZ250X Yamaha Dirt Motorcycle has the famous handling proved by championship-winning YZ motocross riders on tracks worldwide thanks to a carefully engineered aluminum frame and swingarm. To reduce weight savings, the removable aluminum rear subframe is constructed of square-section tubing.
