Top Features
A new 125cc reed-valve-inducted two-stroke engine delivers enhanced acceleration and mid-to-high-rpm power. The race-tested, highly developed aluminum semi-double-cradle frame is designed to offer precisely the right amount of strength and flex for the ideal combination of stability and cornering performance.
The revised front and rear brake setups provide excellent braking power and feel while decreasing unsprung weight. Lightweight, precisely adjusted chassis offers agile handling, greater control, and less rider fatigue—the perfect foundation for honing skills and developing confidence. The light, nimble, competition-ready 2022 Yamaha YZ125 Off-Road Bike is a proper motocross bike ideal for riders moving up from the 85cc class.
Engine
The new 2022 Yamaha YZ125 Off-Road Bike two-stroke engine outperforms the 2021 model in terms of power and usability. The engine’s almost every functional component is new, including the cylinder body, cylinder head, piston, piston pin, connecting rod, crankcase, expansion chamber, and a redesigned cylinder port form and updated cylinder port timing. It’s a noticeable difference from the first crack of the throttle and throughout the whole rpm range.
The improved intake design allows for a straighter, more efficient air pull into the intake tract. The patented YPVSTM technology blends snappy, hard-hitting bottom-end acceleration with powerful mid-range and top-end performance. For optimum performance, the revised six-speed close-ratio gearbox features larger transmission gear tooth width and new, optimized gear ratios.
The digital CDI technology provides the real spark and monitors engine speed to guarantee optimum timing for quicker, stronger acceleration. This large-capacity radiator has a 10-row core with blacked-out louvers for an aggressive appearance and optimum cooling efficiency.
Chassis/Suspension
The race-tested, highly developed aluminum semi-double-cradle frame is designed to offer precisely the right amount of strength and flex for the ideal combination of stability and cornering performance. To save weight, the removable aluminum rear subframe is made of square-section tubing.
A lightweight braking system that has been upgraded includes bigger front pistons, a more robust caliper, a new 270mm front rotor with a 30% increase in the pad contact area, and higher friction pad material, all of which work together to deliver outstanding braking power and feel. The revised rear rotor retains the same braking control while decreasing the outer diameter from 245mm to 240mm, significantly lowering unsprung weight without sacrificing performance.
The Speed-Sensitive System 48mm inverted KYB® fork has a leaf spring in the mid-speed valve for more accurate damping and improved performance and comfort, with 11.8 inches of travel.
The updated fully adjustable KYB® rear shock includes low-friction Kashima CoatTM internals, separate adjustments for high- and low-speed compression damping, a complete lock oil rebound system for added comfort, and 12.4 inches of travel. All of this adds up to excellent rear wheel control and class-leading capabilities. Bridgestone® Battlecross X20 tires provide excellent cornering grip and race-developed performance.
Additional Features
The 2022 Yamaha YZ125 Off-Road Bike is competition-ready right out of the box, with an aluminum handlebar, two-position adjustable handlebar clamp, wide footpegs, gripper seat, adjustable clutch lever with work-style cable adjuster, and a revolutionary lightweight rear sprocket design.
New For 2022
Over the 2021 model, an entirely new liquid-cooled 125cc two-stroke engine claims increased mid- and top-end power.
To match the improved engine performance, and updated lightweight braking system includes larger front pistons, a more rigid caliper, a completely redesigned 270mm front rotor with a 30% increase in the pad contact area, and greater friction pad material, all of which work together to provide exceptional braking power and feel. The revised rear rotor retains the same braking control while decreasing the outer diameter from 245mm to 240mm, significantly lowering unsprung weight without sacrificing performance.
A new flatter seat and narrower fuel tank design, as well as seamlessly integrated body panels and smaller shroud width, allow for more forward and back mobility, enabling the rider to transfer body weight for improved control and confidence effortlessly.
An all-new front and rear suspension have been updated to enhance bump absorption and cornering performance further, taking the 2022 Yamaha YZ125 Off-Road Bike class-defining suspension and handling qualities to a new level. For improved performance and comfort, the KYB® inverted front fork now incorporates a leaf spring in the mid-speed valve.
For accurate ignition timing, the new high-precision Hitachi Astemo® Keihin PWK38S carburetor has a power jet, throttle position sensor, and 3D-map-controlled CDI unit. Consequently, the throttle response is clean and snappy, with excellent rideability and over-rev character. The improved intake design allows for a straighter, more efficient air pull into the intake tract.
Thinner, more aggressive bodywork, including revised front and rear fender designs, slimmer body panels, and redesigned radiator shrouds, combined with a striking new graphics scheme to showcase the YZ’s unrivaled racing heritage. Premium 2022 Yamaha YZ125 Off-Road Bike Blue and dark blue graphics are now integrated for added durability and scratch resistance.
